Fsst and furious painting to get caught up...floral projects update

31/100

Great news friends! Your gal here did some fast and furious painting over the weekend....and *drumroll* is all caught up on her creative projects for #the100dayproject! *high fives all around*

32/100

Admittedly some are a little amateurish but the gal did try to use a wide variety of art supplies to vary the outcomes and give some love to her neglected art supplies...*winks*

33/100

This one was pure stress relief with all the splattering. Erm...going for the impressionist abstract look. Did it work? *LOL*

34/100

Another fast piece with a watercolored base and then adding some details with coloured pencils. :)

35/100

I always struggle with roses but I try anyway.

36/100

Really wanted to try the ink and wash technique again (aka lazy person's way to complete a painting).

37/100

Trying to impressionist style with water-soluble mediums and acrylic paints.

38/100

A play with purples and greens.

39/100

Abstract hanging blooms. Not sure if it worked. If in doubt, add some paint splatters to make it look artsy...hehehe..

40/100

An attempt at a monochromatic painting. This was fun!

What do you think?

Another one of my goals in 2022 is....

Two years into mostly staying at home and ordering stuff online have certainly changed my perspective on consumption and the "waste" that comes with said consumption. If you are a regular visitor to my blog over the last decade, you would know that I'm big on recycling, upcycling and repurposing things.

But my recycling/upcycing/repurposing cannot keep up with the rate at which stuff enters my orbit. Pictured is the average number of cardboard boxes that goes into the recycle bin each week. Because I don't have the space to keep everything for "future" projects. (cardboard boxes don't keep well in a hot and humid climate..)

I'm already making the conscious effort to use what I have instead of buying new stuff. From using existing art supplies to wearing clothes already in my closet...

To opting for eco-friendly refills...

To drinking only Nepresso coffee because they collect and recycle the pods.

Still, I ask myself constantly if I'm doing enough for the environment.

So in 2022, my goal is to be a more conscious consumer when it comes to purchasing things that I need/want so that I don't accumulate so much "waste". And to use things that I already own instead of buying a new fancier version. To stop buying things on impulse because it's on sale.

I don't think it will be easy since I love stuff. But I'm going to try. *triumphant music plays in the background*

What about you? Do you have any eco-goals?

What the nephew had for breakfast this week

It was lovely to have had a whole week off from making breakfast for the nephew (yay for the school hols!) but it was a back to the grind again this week.

Monday: scrambled eggs with leftover stir-fried black pepper beef on sourdough milk bread.

Tuesday: Egg mayo with leftover minced pork on walnut and cranberry sourdough toast.

No school on Wednesday this week...yay!

Thursday: Scrambled egg with leftover gochujang pork with sourdough pancake (with chia seeds and dried fruit).

Friday (aka today): leftover sourdough pizza (with chicken and cheese) plus a sunny-side up.

And that, my friends, is how I used up this week's leftovers. *LOL*

Happy weekend!

Sharing the next lot of mixed media floral pieces from #the100dayproject

21/100

Every year I tell myself not to get behind in #the100dayproject because it's quite stressful to play catch-up while still trying to work on your daily piece. And yet, here we are again.

22/100

Of course, there's the added "stress" of using different mediums, styles and composition to really stretch my creativity. *winks*

23/100

The struggle. *sad music plays in the background* This piece had so many layers of paint/wet media on it because the gal refused to "waste" paper. *LOL*

24/100

I wanted to work with a limited colour palette but this one is missing a focal point....

25/100

Tried the ink and wash technique in reverse because I didn't feel like adding more colour layers to the flowers. This was surprising quick. Must revisit this technique again.

26/100

Of course I had to do the "bokeh" effect...super fun!

27/100

Finally got my gouache set out to play!

28/100

Had to paint some cherry blossoms after seeing them last week...:)

29/100

Really got into the pinks.

30/100

Rounding out the lot with some bright bold blooms.

This week's decorated paper bag project is a "scene" from the past

This week's decorated paper bag project is a "scene" from the past...back when I was doing my sketch practice at a cafe, totally zoned out of the hustle and bustle of my surroundings.

It took a while to "not care about what passers-by thought about my sketches" and just enjoy the process. I miss my alone time sipping my cuppa and unleashing my creativity.

Life is so different now. If I can't get creative time in the morning, I pretty much won't paint/draw for that day. I'm just too exhausted by the end of the day.

So these days I work on fewer projects but I try to vary them to stretch my creativity and use up my existing stash.

And hoard less. This was a paper bag I was holding on to. It was for a local scrapbooking store that I used to design for. Which closed down in 2018. *LOL*

I think this decorated paper bag turned out quite lovely (aka I got a lot of stash on it...*winks*).

Baking on a Tuesday

Today was a relatively productive day. Made brekkie for nephew #1. Went out for a breakfast meeting (Which meant I had breakfast...yay! Sometimes life gets busy and I forget to eat...like yesterday.) Got back home to cook lunch. Got more work done. Then baked sourdough bread loaf #1.

Followed by loaf #2. Can't decide which scoring style I prefer. (They are walnut, apricot, raisin and cranberry sourdough bread loaves).

And since I got the oven all nice and hot, I decided to make some miso peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Like 31 of them. Only ended up with 30 because 1 got "stolen" while it was chilling on the cooling rack. Yep, that's why I can't start a home bakery business friends. My food gets stolen before they can get packed and shipped off to customers. *LOL*

Then I cooked dinner and cleaned up. All done by 7.30pm. Now just blogging about my day before heading to bed. :)

What about you? What's Tuesday like for you?

Make Stuff Monday - a decorated notebook

In today's Make Stuff Monday, I'm sharing a quick decorated notebook. Just found a stack of unadorned notebooks that needed some "love". *winks*

I went for a muted colour palette because I really wanted to incorporate this gal (from recent happy mail). :)

I wanted to use the "Our all-time favourites" sentiment (from coffee packaging) so I added a strip of black washi tape at the base of the notebook to create a cohesive look. :)

Happy week ahead friends! :)

Happy birthday to me - how about some cherry blossoms to celebrate?

It's officially my birthday today (even though I've been celebrating since the start of the month...hehehe). Yesterday I went to Gardens by the Bay because it's Sakura season featuring Tokidoki!:)

Everything was so sweet-smelling and pretty. I love cherry blossoms!

It was pretty crowded but I did my best to take photos without strangers in them so that I could share them with you. Happy weekend friends!
