Friday's Florals - a few more from #the100dayproject

65/100

So I may have fallen a little behind in posting for #the100dayproject. Still doing them daily but trying to challenge myself to try new techniques because I feel like some of my recent floral pieces are looking too similar.

Since I missed drawing the eye, I decided to combine the eye with florals. On hindsight, I probably should have done it in watercolours and then work on the details with coloured pencils instead of doing everything in coloured pencils and then adding white highlights with a gel pen. This one was super time-consuming.

66/100

For this one I tried my best to do watercolours the conventional way. Adding colours in layers. Working on the details in coloured pencils. And then adding highlights with white gouache.

Going for the loose and abstract feel...

And of course, the overfilled vase look. *LOL*

P/s: Looking forward to catching up (aka finishing up the ones I started) this long holiday weekend! 4 blissful days of not having to wake up at the crack of dawn. Have a great weekend friends! :)

Pattern-mixing on a layout

Wow...this is like my first layout in 2 months! The photos are piling up...on my phone! *winks*

Of course, the first order of things is to have fun with pattern-mixing. :)

I had fun pictures to work with...mum had her sister and cousin come visit her and they were wearing patterns! :)

Since I have been working on smaller projects of late, this bigger format really allowed me to layer on the embellishments (and use up my stash!).

Playing along with Let's Get Sketchy.

Workspace Wednesday - out for lunch

Went out for a three course set lunch with the bestie today.  We shared the dishes except for the dessert and coffee of course. *LOL*

Hope you had/are having a lovely Wednesday lunch too. :)

Tuesday's decorated gift bag

Progress has been slow but I'm working on the unadorned paper bag collection....the target is at least ONE each week. And given that most COVID 19 restrictions have been lifted (except indoor mask-wearing) as of today *high fives all around*, I can actually start filling my gift bags up and giving them to actual people in my life! *happy music plays in the background* :)

I started with this gift bag.

As usual, just a mash mash of random stuff...bits from happy mail and stuff from my stash. :)

This came together fairly quickly because the main patterned paper has gold glittered bits so it didn't need a lot of embellishments to "dress it up".

Happy Tuesday friends! :)

Make Stuff Monday - new dishes I've tried recently

These days I've been really embracing the whole "since I'm stuck at home, let me make something nice" process....and trying new recipes.

Like this Souffléd Apple and Blueberry Omelette. It was pretty good..aka all gone. *winks*

I also tried this Japanese-style pan-fried tofu with garlic and butter. So simple but really tasty. And another member of the empty plate club. :)

The other day I was watching a Korean cooking channel and they used the 3-egg pan to make mini veggie pancakes! Which got me really excited since I own said 3 egg-pan and it was really under-utilised. Previously I made a large veggie pancake but it was extremely challenging to flip the pancake without breaking it. It was soooooo much easier using the 3-egg pan and making the mini-versions.

My dad doesn't like to eat stir-fried veggies. But he loves a pancake. So this is my way to "force" him to eat the veggies. Especially since I made a spicy dipping sauce to go with it. :)

Just this morning, I tired making Oeufs Au Plat - French-style fried eggs - for the nephew. (It smelled so good that I made one for myself too....a few hours later.) Such a simple dish but oh-so-good. I guess it's all in the butter. :)First, pan-fry the eggs in butter. Remove from pan. Add more butter to pan. Sauté garlic, mushrooms and chicken. Add salt, pepper and oregano flakes. Spoon the herby mix over cooked eggs. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt and black pepper. Super yummy. :)

What about you? Tried anything new recently?

Thursday

My day...in food pics

Well friends, today I'm sharing my day...in food pics. :)

First up: 6.55am - egg mayo on sourdough toast for nephew #1's brekkie. (Yep..he was waiting beside me for me to be done taking the photo so he could eat it. *winks*)

Then I worked on some pickled veggies. These two bottles are pickled white radishes. My first go at these. They were super easy to make. Hope they are good.

These two bottles are pickled cabbage with carrots. A lot more effort required...had to salt the veggies for an hour, rinse them off and squeeze off the excess water. Quite labour-intensive. But totally worth the time. My second go at these. I added more garlic and chilli to up the spicy factor because my first batch was quite mild. :)

Next I took a break and had a hand-brewed coffee made by my sister.

For lunch we had stir-fried pork loin in dark soy sauce.

And fried bean curd in fermented bean sauce.

And a veggie stir-fry.

Since we had some leftovers from lunch, I just steamed some cod fish (Cantonese style).

And cooked another mixed veggie dish.

And that my friends is my day...in food pics. :)

Tell me about your day.

Workspace Wednesday - super quick decorated notebook

Hello friends! How have you been? Life has been busy as always....and your gal is making the best out of the situation. Still working on those florals paintings and simple paper projects in the little pockets of available time. Being short on time means less fluffing around and more decisiveness in just adhering stuff and making it "work"...or you know, somewhat work. *LOL*

Like this quick decorated notebook. Not quite sure about my patterned paper choices here...*winks* but pretty happy to get some scrap pieces used up. :)

This week's "scene on a paper bag" project

This week's "scene on a paper bag" project is a super fun one! :)

Check out the cat on the bookshelf!

Love it when a project comes together super quick with all the bits and pieces from your stash. :)

Happy Tuesday friends!
