Somebody really likes to make cards...

Now that the Gangster Gang [aka 3 nephews + 1 niece] is into digital media [games on the tablet], I see a lot less of them on Saturdays. I mean, I still hear them when they are arguing over whose turn it is, but I don't really spend time with them until they get bored and ask to watch something on Netflix. Or when they turn into "zombies" and I have to bring them out to the playground to get "unzombified". *LOL*

The first one to get bored is usually the niece. She would come to my room and just stare at me. Apparently, I'm a mind reader. *winks*

"What do you want?" I would ask her.

" I don't know." She would reply.

"You want me to tickle you?" 

"Noooooooooo....."

"You want to sit on my lap?"

"Yes."

Of course, having a child sit on your lap when you are drawing/painting/scrapbooking is not exactly the most ideal of situations. Especially when the child asks a lot of questions. And there's also the weight situation. I draw the line when I can't feel my legs anymore.

"Would you like to make cards?"

"YES!!!!!"

And that was how I got somebody interested in making cards....

Just look at her happy face...somebody really likes to make cards...;)

These days I'm challenging myself to really mix it up when it comes to patterns. Tucking in little bits and pieces here and there...

And then trying to pull the whole thing together with embellishments.

It takes a lot longer on each layout but there's a great sense of satisfaction when the little bits and bobs get used up. :)

Let's take a stroll...

"Let's take a stroll around the neighbourhood..." I said to my niece on Saturday.

"Yay!" she beamed excitedly.

Yep. It is really easy to get a 6 year old excited about a stroll, with the possibility of stopping at a playground when she's been watching her brothers play on the tablets all day long. *winks*

She paid attention as I named the plants we saw along the way and was proud of herself for identifying them correctly. And of course, she was happy to pose for photos. :)

I was really pleased with the amount of paper scraps on this layout....even though it has hardly made a noticeable dent in the scrap pile. *LOL*

I love adding dimensional elements on my layouts but keep them relatively flat for easy storage.

Guest designing for Stuck?! Sketches...

So I was invited to be the guest designer for the May 15 sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches. :)

I decided to go the pretty route for this layout....because of this sweet photo of my niece in her new tutu dress. Yeah, she's like my real-life doll. I totally "staged" this photo...*winks*

Trying to work through my chipboard collection too...[Can you believe I still have a lot of chipboard from my 2013 design team stint with Blue Fern Studios? ]

I love adding the tulle and the lace for a dreamy feel.

Miss Super Sticky...*winks*

Meet Miss Super Sticky [aka my niece]...at least she was last Saturday....*winks* 

Usually, she takes time to "warm up" when she comes over. Grandma would try to talk to her and get ignored.... Grandpa would try to talk to her and get ignored....you get the drift.

But last Saturday, she was Miss Super Sticky. Somehow, all day long, she would hold my hand or climb over to sit on my lap...you know, sticking to me like super glue. *LOL* Of course, I had to milk it for all it was worth...and took a gazillion photos. :)

Still working through my patterned paper stash...I think I've used up an inch or so. Only another 24 inches to go....wish me luck!

Self-expression...

This is self-expression...when a little girl [aka niece] gets frustrated with her brothers! *LOL*

Having been on a floral kick for the past few weeks, it was nice to work with my fave Dylusions ink sprays for bright pops of colour!

The first round of photos I printed were too dark so I printed another set and fussy-cut them. The old photos were used for the "background" and the silhoutte photos were adhered with 3D dots for a pop-up feel.

Rice only?

My niece is always the first at the dining table when dinner is served. 

" Do you want chicken?"

"No!"

"Do you want fish?"

"No!"

"Do you want vegetables?"

"Nol"

"Rice only?"

"Yes!"

Yes...all the glorious food on the table and she wants plain white rice. Yeah, not even gravy. Weird, eh? *LOL*

My little helper...

My niece gets really excited when she gets to be my little helper...*winks*

I like to remove the packaging from my embellishments and put them in clear containers for easy viewing. My niece would happily help by separating them by colours and types...while telling me how pretty each embellishment is. :)

It's nice to have a little helper who appreciates my taste in embellishments...*LOL*
