Roast chicken again?

Roast-chicken-again?

Apparently so. I have had to make roast chicken 5 times in the last two weeks.

My sister texted, "I'm ordering pizza for dinner tonight. May not have enough for everybody. Why don't you make something? Like roast chicken?"

My nephew (while eating roast chicken), "I could eat this everyday."

Seriously. Even the crab is puzzled as to why the Yams love roast chicken so much. *LOL*

It started with my mum buying me the WMF roasting pan which I had been eyeing for a while. And then it seems that every time I'm at home, there's a chicken in the fridge waiting to be roasted. *winks*

So my goals each time I roast are to get the chicken skin crispier and the breast meat more juicy than the previous attempt. And of course, to fit in as much vegetables as possible. Because a one-pan meal makes it much easier for cleanup. :)

What about you? What dish do you have to make over and over again?

The one about the lame mooncake-making session...*winks*

The-one-about-the-lame-mooncake-making-session

So last weekend there was a mooncake-making session at my local mall and I "made" nephew #1 go for the short session.

Now he thought that the mooncake-making session was a little lame (yes, photo #1 was totally "staged" for the camera) but got a little more excited when he was holding the finished product (photo #2). Then when he finally got to eat it (it needed some chilling in the fridge), he said that it was totally "worth it". *LOL*

Really had a lot of fun pulling bits and pieces from my paper scraps for this layout. :)

The one about the photobomber...

The-one-about-the-photobomber

When we went to Universal Studios last month, the Gangster Gang (aka niece + nephews) went to Raptor Training School (you know, training a very fake dinosaur with a clicking device and hand movements......yes, nephew #1 was rolling his eyes at how lame it was! *LOL*)

Of course, they graduated with "flying colours" *winks* and I asked the training instructor to take a photo with them.

This cute kid who also "graduated" from the class was quick to jump in front of the Gangster Gang the moment I whipped out my phone to take a photo! Hahahaha!

And the photobomber's stance is right on point!

Check out the second photo with the puzzled expressions on #2, #3 and #4's faces! Of course, #1 is still smiling sweetly at the camera (he was trained by the best...aka me!)

The "heat" wave adventure *winks*

The-heat-wave-adventure

So last Friday, my dad, sister and I had a little "heat" wave adventure at Sichuan Kungfu Fish - a restaurant that serves spicy Szechuan food.

You know I love "heat" in my food (even though I know when I meet my bloggy friends in real life, we'll probably be sticking to ketchup...lol) so I was looking forward to the Mala soup base.

The fish came in a fish-shaped pan with a burning flame to keep the dish hot. Check out my dad "fishing" with his chopsticks! *winks*

The verdict? It was spicy but not "tearingly" spicy.  :)

Pasta and waffles for lunch

Pasta-and-waffles-for-lunch

So you know my sister is fantastic at sniffing out great deals on Fave (previously known as Groupon). The other day, she scored a pasta and waffles deal at Gelare....and I was the lucky lunch companion! *winks*

I only managed to get a photo of the pasta because the ice-cream on the waffles was melting away and we had to save the ice-cream by eating it asap!  *LOL*

Of course, that wasn't the only deal she scored...I also snagged a iced milk tea and a pulled pork bun for tea! :)

Yep...even the Mad Hatter was shocked...hehehe...

Can you tell that I had soooooooo much fun using up my paper scraps on this layout?

Tucking a little bit here and a little bit there...:)

Using stuff I've been hoarding...

Best-day-ever1

The recent reorganization of my art supplies had led to the inevitable uncovering of the stuff I've been hoarding...which may be a good thing right? *winks*

I found a gazillion Magnum ice-cream sticks...[hey, they had a 1-for-1 promotion most of last year! *lol*], some fussy-cut patterned papers, doilies, remnant trims,  paper clips and twine. Yeah, I mostly hoard found stuff...the pretty ones I just use immediately.*LOL*

Which was great since I like to use little bits and pieces on my layouts. :)

The cute kids are my cousins' kids...[I have 11 nephews and nieces!]

How my scrapbooking style works for me...

Mother's-Day

My style is quirky at best....but really comes from my need to use up the little bits of scrap lying around that are driving me crazy! And yes, when you see me using a similar embellishment on multiple layouts, it usually means I'm trying to use them all up too. *winks*

I stick down little bits of remnant trim and ribbon, tags and stickers here and there....make sure it's visually balanced and I'm done. There are times after I've photographed the layout when I think the layout can be improved but I usually leave it as it is [*ahem..lazy bones*].

One hour of fun!

The-one-hour-fun

This year, I've challenged myself to spend <= one hour on a layout and focus more on design and storytelling rather than throw lots of products on a page.

Fortunately I have a huge arsenal of pre-prepared masked/misted backgrounds from which to choose from. :)

Then I rummage through my scrap paper box [I will finish using up those scraps...eventually. *winks*] Add some machine stitching and journaling and the layout is done!

Self-expression...

123go

This is self-expression...when a little girl [aka niece] gets frustrated with her brothers! *LOL*

Having been on a floral kick for the past few weeks, it was nice to work with my fave Dylusions ink sprays for bright pops of colour!

The first round of photos I printed were too dark so I printed another set and fussy-cut them. The old photos were used for the "background" and the silhoutte photos were adhered with 3D dots for a pop-up feel.
