When the elements appear to be unrelated...

Be-brave-mixed-media-canvas

"Creativity comes from a conflict of ideas." Donatella Versace
And that apparently, is supposed to explain the cluster of seemingly unrelated elements on my mixed media canvas....*winks*

I would like to tell you that there's a deeper meaning to the elements here but really, I just pulled together all the browns and beiges in my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash...*LOL*[ yes, the teddy bear fabric button looks totally out of place, right?].

I started by covering an old canvas with DCWV burlap, then used distress paint and my fave The Crafter's Workshop stencil for the background.

Then I picked out elements in neutral tones for an overall organic feel.

FABULOUS! Totally love that you put 'unrelated objects' together like that....colour has a way of working to bring unison, so it would seem!!! And this is a REALLY fabulous take on our Off The Rails challenge....sooo happy to see you playing along:):):)

Even though I am also a collector of bits of this and that, my favorite part of this project is the stenciled burlap. It is really interesting and adds so much to the piece. I really need to revisit all my stencils and maybe get a few more *wink-wink*

I was totally expecting the items to mean something, like the pigs or other things you work into your projects! Either way, it looks great.

Amazing! Gorgeous! My favorite color is actually brown, so this particular collection of goods really tugs at my heartstrings. Love the chevron stencil pattern on the background, and your unique combination of elements is what makes you such an amazing artist. And honestly, I think the bear goes with the sentiment. Reminds me of Pooh Bear and those famous lines: “Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
