How many projects do you work on at any one time?

Christmas-party

If you haven't already noticed.....I work on multiple projects at any one time. Which is why you sometimes see the same papers or embellishments on multiple projects. I try to insert some of my "spare" projects [usually publication rejects] or a Tips post to break up the monotony so that you wouldn't notice...*LOL* How many projects do you work on at any one time?

I find it a lot more efficient to do similar activities in one sitting. Like misting a few backgrounds or colouring a few images.

It reduces the clean-up time substantially and having ready-made backgrounds can really speed up the process when you have limited time but really want to complete a project.

My card was inspired by the sketch at Some Odd Girl. :)

A showcase of my fave Some Odd Girl creations...:)

My fave girl!

Today's the day! My fave girl - Some Odd Girl -  is officially 1 today! :) I'm truly honoured to be part of such awesome design team headed by our fearless leader Kristy who is the illustrator of these fabulous digis! :) The birthday girl gets to make a wish! :)

Make a wish

Oh, so you want to see a showcase of my Some Odd Girl creations, huh? *wink*

Dinner time

This was the very first card I designed for the design team reveal.:)
It is sitting pretty somewhere in North Carolina! :)

Good luck

Okay, I love this card because it showcases my fave oddie - Tia! :) Plus I thought it was an ingenious way to use those misted pieces of scrap paper! :)

Hiya

Gotta love the penguins! :) This card, sadly, has been decimated by my nephew J!!! [insert super sad face!]

December 25th

I made this card with my fave Some Odd Girl digi ever - Tiny Tia. She is now living happily in Washington! :)

I love the Halloween collection so much...and tried my hand at incorporating them on an art journal page.

Hello friend

What can I say? I really love the misted background on this one. :)

Best wishes

This one just makes me smile. I did cut away her crown because it was blocking my cute cloud! *LOL*

So totally in love with you

This one is a total labour of love - an altered shoebox. I discovered that the Cuttlebug machine has serious recoil...had a boo boo on my right hand (dominant hand) and completed this project mostly with my left hand...[applause please!] *LOL* You still have time to enter this box of scrappy goodness giveaway if you haven't done so already! :)

Thank you for allowing me to reminisce a little. :)

Geyser....and prizes galore! :)

Geyser

Hey there! The latest challenge at Scrapping the Music is up! It's the song Stand by Me! :) My layout features my sister at a geyser in Chile. Yes...dramatic as always...*LOL*

I extended the background by using white acrylic paint. And added some silver mist on the gray paper. Mine is a simplified version of my guest Mandy Dodd's example. :) Hope to see your entries to her challenge! :)

Martha Stewart Edge Punch, Jillibean Paper, Gauche Alchemy Purple People Eater Mixed Media Color Kit.

P/s: I also wanted to alert you to the week-long  first anniversary celebrations at Some Odd Girl! :) Lots of fun challenges and prizes galore [psst...it includes some awesome Cosmo Cricket goodness!]. Go check out the Some Odd Girl blog! :)

So totally in love with you ... and a giveaway! :)

So totally in love with you

The Some Odd Girl Challenge blog is back in action after the holiday break and the new challenge is to emboss! :) I am so totally in love with the new releases from Some Odd Girl...have you seen them? :) I got Sweet Kody and Night Out Mae...:)

Awww...don't they look sweet together? :) I used Echo Park Papers (swoon-worthy!). And my fave Gauche Alchemy Pink Parts Mixed Media Color Kit. My friend C gave me the lovely cut/emboss die for Christmas. :) I also did some heat embossing on the swirly chipboards. Jenni Bowlin banner stickers. Buttons. Trim. Mist. Copics. Stickles.

I actually upcycled a shoebox for this project...the sides are covered with pink felt and silver trim.

 *****************************************************

And I'm giving this box away! Now what fun would it be to receive an empty box right? So it will be filled to the brim with scrappy goodness! :) Stuff I actually use on my projects! :) I don't have a picture to share yet because I'm still filling it up...who knew a shoebox could store so much???

Just leave me a comment telling me how you found my blog...I'm curious! :) I'll pick a winner on 31st January! :)

And I want to announce the winner of the wrinkle ribbon giveaway (randomly picked)
#6 E.T!
Congrats E! :)

How to: Create an outdoor "scene" background using mists

Best wishes

Hi there! :)Those of you who have been reading my blog know how much I enjoy using mists on my creations. It can be a very subtle way to "freshen" up old papers or just add a subtle sheen to any project. Today I want to share how to create an outdoor scene background using mists.

Here are the supplies you require...

White cardstock/watercolour paper, a box to mist in (so the mist doesn't go everywhere) and various mist colours. I use Maya Mists because I love the strong intense colours they come in and a little goes a long way. Plus, they dry almost instantaneously. (But you can use Glimmer Mists if you like subtle colours).

I started by using the green mist for the grass. The closer you spray, the more intense the colour. My first spritz is about 3 - 4 inches away and then I add another spritz about 2 inches from the paper for an intense burst of colour.

Then I used blue mist for the sky.  You will notice that the paper starts to curl a little. No worries. When it dries, it will be completely flat (unless you spritzed too generously).

Then I added a bit of yellow mist. It's okay that the colours overlap each other...but you can mask the sections off for a neater outcome of course...:)

Some Copic-coloured digi images from Some Odd Girl and my little scene is completed! :)
*This tutorial was first shared in the Some Odd Girl newsletter and edited for this blog post.*

Please go check out the new releases from Some Odd Girl! Here's a sneak of what I did with the new images...it has something to do with next week's giveaway...;)

P/s: Don't forget about Flashback Friday 6.0! You have till Friday to link up your entries. The prize is a yet-to-be released Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp! I would really love for you to play along! :)

Good luck!

Good luck

You like my Good Luck card? It's for the new challenge over at the Some Odd Girl Challenge blog! :) This time we want to see you use your digital stamps to create a background! Totally fun! :)

I printed my little Some Odd Girl digital images on a piece of transparency. The coloured pieces of paper are actually misted scraps...too tiny to put through the printer. Managed to use my neglected scallop punches (Fiskars). Patterned paper is from Sassafras. Sentiment is from E.A.D. Designs. A little bling. My first attempt at channeling my inner Andy Warhol...*LOL*

P/s: New month means new digital freebie over at Some Odd Girl! :)

Spooky October

Spooky October

Hi there! Are you having a Spooky October? I love all the Halloween-inspired creativity out there even though technically, I don't really celebrate Halloween...except for the "eating the treats" part...*LOL* Are you sending me treats??? ;)

This is the art journal page that I created for Some Odd Girl's latest colour challenge...which kind of screams Halloween...orange, green and purple! Layers and layers of paint and gesso on the background...the webs were created from Tim Holtz masks...coloured in with a black Sharpie! :) The Some Odd Girl digis were coloured with Copics. All the cute embellishments are from Gauche Alchemy's Mixed Media Color Kits!

Let it snow cupcakes

Let it snow cupcakes

Hi there! I have no idea why the sentiment on this card is "Let it snow cupcakes"! *LOL* This is when you try to craft in the wee hours of the morning and have a serious craving for cupcakes. :) But SERIOUSLY, wouldn't it be cool if it actually snowed cupcakes?

Some misting on the background. Digital image is from Some Odd Girl. Coloured with Copics. Notepaper is from Teresa Collins. Fimo clay cupcakes (courtesy of Mirjam). Inspired by Sasya's Sketches.
