Today's layout features my friend Mirjam's happy family! :)

A paper doiley, burlap, chipboard swirls, buttons, brads, stickers and lot of fussy cutting! :)

A little paper curling and fussy-cutting at the corner. :)

This one's for Maggi! :)

This one's dedicated to my friend Maggi...who looks so radiant in this photo taken minutes after delivering her baby girl...:) The photo was matted on Webster's trim packaging [the stamped work was all done *winks* upcycling pays!:)]

I stamped and clear embossed the Maya Road doilies...spritzed a little glimmer mist and added some distress ink to further define the doiley pattern. Some twine, burlap, buttons and scrunched up old book paper. Journaling written on an ice-cream stick.

I used the sketch at Sketchy Thursdays. :)

How to use mats to create interest on your layouts...:)

Hello friends! Today I want to share how to matting can be used to create interest on your layouts. :)

For the photos, I

1. Used a chipboard as a frame

2. Matted with scrap cardstock/patterned paper

3. Double matted with scrap cardstock/patterned paper

Matting gives the photo depth but is a real paper waster unless you use scraps [mine usually has stamping or journaling underneath it actually] or you can cut out the backs of the paper.

I placed all three photos on a piece of patterned paper and used some scrap brown cardstock to mat that patterned paper [these are strips of brown cardstock to reduce the bulkiness]. It wasn't big enough to mat the whole piece of patterned paper...so I used some red patterned paper scrap for the last bit [on the right]...again, I didn't have enough [notice the gap?] so I strategically placed some burlap and a butterfly element there to "distract"...I'm sure you wouldn't have noticed if I didn't tell you! *LOL*

My main photo mat was propped up on 3D dots so that I can slip little bits of burlap, doiley and pearls underneath.

 

I crumpled some wrapping tissue to serve as a mat for my journaling.

Is blackmailing in my future? *winks*

I find myself saying "Look here!" a lot as the official memory keeper. We all know photo-taking is such hard work. Someone blinks. Someone looks away from the camera. The lighting conditions are less than perfect et cetera. It can be frustrating! But on the bright side, I have in my possession, lots of future blackmail photos [insert evil laugh] ...hehe..naked bath photos of my nephews...*LOL*

Here is my mother, holding my niece, S and argh...not looking at the camera....yes yes yes, it's the same day I took the candid shot of my dad with my nephew and niece [which you all had a good laugh over *winks*]

I love it when I can use minimal supplies to create a layout (aka my guest Lynnda's minimal challenge). I used the sketch from PageMaps.

Go minimal with Lynnda Hosni! :)

My guest today is my friend Lynnda Hosni of ArtyScrappy! :) I love that Lynnda's style is always fun and fresh...she's enthusiastic about trying out new techniques and that keeps her creations fabulously interesting because you never know what to expect! She doesn't shy away from bright and bold colours but uses them to showcase her quirky side! In all her fearlessness, she epitomizes the one quality that I admire - the ability to go with the flow and just do it! She hosting an awesome challenge and has two prizes up for grabs!!!! :)

G'Day! My name is Lynnda Hosni. I have a son Matin who is going to turn 7 in August, and my other half DH. Since I work full-time, I really treasure every minute that I get to spend my time with both of them! I live in Melbourne, Australia, but I grew up on the Sunny Island of Singapore. I've just started to get naughty with this crafty hobby... to be exact early last year...I don't have any particular style as I still consider myself as a newbie. But I'm keen and I'm a very addicted scrapbooker...My style just keeps evolving... but one thing that is constant in most of my work is color!!...I love bright, cheery and rainbow colors..be it from paints, glimmermist, distress ink, pp, ribbons, twine... bright
cheery happy colors would definitely be my 1st choice!! Personally I like to create a layout that goes with the "flow" with just a twist ...keep it minimal...less is more! I'm pretty sure most of you are the same... so today my challenge to you is to create card, layout or any other form of altered art with a twist ~  less is more - keep it minimal... easy peazy isn't it? A play tag! :)

Hello friends! Hope you had a great weekend! I recently joined the design team at Your Scrapbook Stash and just got my fun supplies in the mail...always exciting to play with new things, eh? :)

This was a tag I made with some Crate Paper goodies I got in my kit...:) I'm trying to make some smaller things to send in the mail as opposed to my usual 6X6 cards...I realise most people make way smaller cards...I don't even know what a standard card size is...*LOL*

This candid shot really reminds me of why I scrapbook...to capture the stories of real life...and maybe have a good laugh about those silly moments like this one....:)

A mid-week boost! :)

How about a happy burst of colours for a mid-week boost? I had some hardware issues at the beginning of the week and I'm so glad my laptop's back! Yay!:)

Summer days are hot! :)

Hi there! :) It's interesting how folks from the northern hemisphere get all so excited about summer...while people like me, located near the equator where it's summer all year round, just get more hot and bothered...*LOL*

Just a super quick card using the sketch from Card Patterns and the cute gumball machine image from Bows and Berries. And a new month means a new digi freebie...mushroom love! Go snag yours!

You really don't need a lot of supplies to complete a layout...

[This layout was done for my friend Spardha and features her family!] 

I misted the circles using a toilet roll tube as a mask...added some bits of patterned paper and rub-ons.

I misted the chipboard which served as a cool frame for the photo....added some wrinkle ribbon for a little more texture and dimension.

I used little bits of pom pom trim and baker's twine for some texture. And played with some chipboard letters, stickers and rub-ons for the title/journaling for the page. Mixing the fonts adds a playful feel to these happy photos! :)

You really don't need a lot of supplies to complete a layout! I used the sketch at Pencil Lines! :)
