Day out - Turkish food for dinner

Last Saturday we finally went to attend a Sephora event followed by some lovely Turkish food for dinner. It's been hard to attend Sephora events of late because we now have another kid in the house. Nephew #3 has moved in to stay with us, less than a year after nephew#1 moved back home (he's now in Melbourne). Nephew #1 stayed with us for 6 years. I'm not one to air out family's dirty laundry...I can only say not all parents are good parents.

Anyway, the folks were excited to have Turkish food for dinner (not currently a cuisine in my cooking repertoire..*winks*). They each chose their own plate while my sister and I shared a mixed grill plate for 2 (pictured) It was pretty good. :)

From the gratitude journal - Balmuda toaster oven

This week's page from the gratitude journal is an ode to my beloved Balmuda toaster oven. After a wait of 3 years, she was finally mine. And I love her.

I did watch a gazillion YouTube videos about all the various ways to get the most out of your Balmuda toaster oven since it cost a pretty penny. But for the past year, I've mostly used her for toast. *LOL* Well, frozen sourdough bread gets toasted to perfection in this toaster oven. Beats the conventional oven, the pan on the stove and the airfryer. All of which this gal owns too. *winks*

P/s: How do you like to toast your bread?

Two weeks' worth of eye drawings

This is possibly the only creative thing I've been keeping up with lately. So here is two week's worth of eye drawings! *winks*

Happy week ahead friends!

Workspace Friday - on my desk

Feeling a little burnout so taking it easy this week. Got myself some lilies. And did a little eye drawing. :)

Hope you are taking time for a little self-care. Happy weekend friends!

A page from the gratitude journal - birthday flowers

Throwback to March last year when nephew #1 bought me flowers for my birthday. This year, he wished me happy birthday from Melbourne, Australia where he is pursuing his medical degree.

Thursday's desk - another week in eye drawings

So I was in Bangkok last week and managed to sneak in a few drawings during happy hour...*yay...go me!*

I was furiously getting my eye drawn before I lost daylight....

While the servers made sure I had a replenishment of gin and tonic....

Gasp! Do I draw better while intoxicated? *dramatic music plays in the background*

Happy Thursday friends! :)

Workspace Wednesday - meet my 2025 gratitude journal

Meet my 2025 gratitude journal.  The cover looked like it was blue and red online but it is actually blue and orange. Such a happy colour combo.

This is my third year using the Hobonichi Techo A6 as my gratitude journal. I love the compact size.:) The first year, I went all out and even bought the plastic cover on cover. But I realised that it just got glue mark stains really fast. So it's just the A6 book and a cover for me. None of the fancy overpriced stuff.

Looking forward to getting this filled up alongside the 2024 gratitude journal because I really need to clear up the gazillion photos on my phone. *LOL*

Make Stuff Monday on a Tuesday - this week's upcycled box project

Hello. Totally meant to post this on a Monday but didn't. Oops. So here it is on a Tuesday. This week's upcycled project.:)

I started with this lovely sturdy box from Kiehl's.

Some packaging bits...

Some happy mail repurposing bits...

Even took the trusty old glue out to adhere the dimensional bits...

And of course, it has to be finished with shimmer mist. :)

Monday's page from the gratitude journal - free birthday cake

Love it when I get a birthday surprise treat at the hotel that I'm staying in. It's a small piece of cake that I get to devour all by myself. Which is a real treat. :)

Kind of a mish mash page. Had to add that My Melody sticker (coz she's my fave and I spilled glue on that part...*winks*). And the banner sticker was kind of wonky but it was stuck down so let's call it a design style eh...*LOL*

Friday's single eye drawing

The schedule has been brutal with travel every 2 weeks...(on the plane home as this gets posted) so this was the single eye drawing I got done before I left. :)

Happy weekend friends!

The one about Ah Seng Durian

So if you didn't already know...the Yams love durian! :)

Our government recently gave all citizens some vouchers to help with the cost of living (and to help local businesses) so we went to Ah Seng Durian for a treat! The box of Blackthorn durian that mum is holding is S$45. It goes by weight and you pay for the thorny shell that is inedible.

Durian season only comes twice a year with the mid-year harvest being the biggest one...so it's really a treat to get to savour the king of fruits. :)

Workspace Wednesday - playing with My Melody stickers

Gotta be honest. Some days just sticking some cute My Melody stickers on my wireless earphones counts as creative time. :)

I love the sweet treats at the Signature Lounge at Caravelle Saigon. They are bite-sized so you can try them all. *winks*

Make Stuff Monday - a muted colour palette on an upcycled paper bag

Decided to challenge myself with a muted colour palette on an upcycled paper bag for this week's Make Stuff Monday.

Pretty happy to be able to use up the little bits in my stash that fall under the muted colour scheme.

As always, it was finished with glimmer mist to tie everything together. :)
