Mummy Yam's birthday 2026

We recently celebrated Mummy Yam's birthday! :)

We went out for dinner...

And she chose her own birthday cake.

Really had fun with the white paint marker on this layout. :)

Happy weekend friends!

Another page from the Beijing trip

Beijing has really beautiful ancient architecture. Like the Temple of Heaven.

The place is huge (270 acres) and so many people dress up in period costumes to take photos.

The usual mish mash of packaging and scrap bits. :)

Beijing Trip Day 1

We arrived at our hotel in Beijing in the wee hours of the morning and first stop after a night's rest was Yuan Ming Yuan - the old Summer Palace. Huge place to explore...ruins mostly and a lot of greenery. The thing about visiting China is that there is no getting away from walking because everything is large-scale *LOL*. And also no getting away from the local tourists.

Tried my best to not include other people in my photos...*winks*

Just the usual mist mash of scraps and packaging bits.

Travel day 2026

We went on a family vacation last month and I strong-armed myself to start scrapbooking immediately (since I haven't even got started on last year's vacation...*oops*)

Having lots of fun with my printer options. And using lots of packaging materials as always.

Look at this cute travel frame!

I even got the stickles out to play (still trying to finish up what I have and not buy any more).:)

Papa Yam's birthday 2026

We recently celebrated Papa Yam's birthday. He picked out his own cake so he looked really pleased...*LOL*

Yep...I even took out my glass cake stand and all. *winks*

The usual mist mash of packaging materials as tabs and fussy cut elements on the page. :)

Steak kind of day

The other day I brought the folks out for steak.

Mum was very happy...dad was slightly annoyed that photos had to be taken before he could eat...*LOL*

Having fun with the new "frames" on the CP1500 printer....

Especially the food one with the cutlery and checked tablecloth...super fun! :)

Happy weekend friends!

Monday

The one about last week's day out shopping

Last week I had to head to town to make full use of my birthday month vouchers and rebates. Of course, I had to bring the folks. *winks*

We had lunch at a foodcourt, did some shopping and then sat down to a lovely dinner at a Peranakan restaurant....here they are happily waiting for the food to arrive.

Here are the folks again with the food and dessert photos. :)

Used lots of packaging boxes as tabs for journaling spots on this layout. Can you spot them?

The one about dinner at a nursery

Two Sundays ago, we went to have dinner at a restaurant located in a plant nursery. It's a short drive from home and boasts of cosy outdoor dining surrounded by beautiful plants.

Of course, the folks and sister have to take a photo with the horse and fortune god. *LOL*

I actually didn't take any photos of the plants so I added some potted plant stickers. *winks*

Despite the rave reviews, we were kind of disappointed with the food. The portions were small and the food was just okay and not worth the price. We did end with a slice of yuzu matcha cheesecake which my sister said it's my birthday cake (this was 3 days before my birthday) and that was really good. But that was not done in-house. So I guess we're not going back.

Just another day in the life of the Yams. :)

The one about the Lego Lion

So my sister E spent quite a bit of time putting together this CNY Lego Lion...

And I figured we should have it in the family scrapbook while it's still intact (I tried moving it and promptly lost 4 pieces at the side...LOL*)

I got some of these horse red packets from Vietnam..they are perfect for the CNY layouts. :)

Celebrating my brother's birthday with my first ice-cream cake

I haven't made anyone's birthday cake in a while...it's just been easier to buy one....but I baked a Basque Burnt Cheesecake for CNY and discovered that I really miss the therapeutic process of measuring and mixing and making something delicious. So I'm going to bake a lot more in 2026. :)

Incidentally, I also bought an ice-cream maker a few months ago and have been enjoying making my own ice-cream. So I decided to try an ice-cream cake. Back in December I served my vanilla ice-cream with blondies and it was a hit....so I went with a blondie vanilla ice-cream cake. I did run out of time and didn't manage to cover the cake with frosting but I decorated with Fererro Rochers and it looked pretty good. *winks*

I almost forgot how excited the Yams get when there's cake. *LOL*

Can you spot the upcycled packaging on the layout?

Happy Tuesday friends!

Meet nephew #1's girlfriend!

So nephew #1 brought his girlfriend over to meet his grandparents and his fave aunt (of course! *winks*).

They met in Melbourne last year...yes, she's tiny!

Meanwhile nephew #1 also came with a fresh new perm. *LOL*

Lots of red packet bits as embellishments since this was during CNY 2026. :)
