Make Stuff Monday - upcycled matcha whisk container

I'm old school when it comes to making matcha. I love getting out my ceramic chawan and bamboo whisk to make my matcha latte. Unfortunately no matter how careful you are, the bamboo whisk needs to get replaced every 6 months or so. My recent matcha whisk came in a sturdy cardboard container...which makes for a lovely up cycling project! *high fives all around*

Even got to decorate the top of the container. It turned out really pretty! :)

Friday's quick decorated box

The girl recently got a Faber Castell rollerball pen which came in a lovely sturdy box...and just had to make it a little prettier. *winks*

Here is the original box.

Make Stuff Monday - decorated Xmas box

There are few stores locally selling scrapbook paper these days so I've gone for Christmas wrapping paper instead.

The only downside is that it is super thin, tears easily and shows wet glue marks.

So I used dry adhesive to stick it down then reinforce the sides with trusty washi tape...which doubles as a lovely border design.

What do you think?

Make Stuff Monday on a Tuesday - this week's upcycled box project

Hello. Totally meant to post this on a Monday but didn't. Oops. So here it is on a Tuesday. This week's upcycled project.:)

I started with this lovely sturdy box from Kiehl's.

Some packaging bits...

Some happy mail repurposing bits...

Even took the trusty old glue out to adhere the dimensional bits...

And of course, it has to be finished with shimmer mist. :)

Mixed Media Monday - a mixed media upcycled decorated box

Hello friends! I have been getting back into my mixed media supplies...even glued some paper scraps with gel medium and played with my acrylic paints for the background of this upcycled box (*yay...go me!).

And then I pretty much went a little crazy with the fun scrap bits. :)

Lots of packaging bits too...

Hope I get to fill this box up with goodies and make someone's day.

Happy week ahead friends!

Make Stuff Monday - a decorated black box

Decided to play with lots of colours on the decorated box...

Started with this sturdy black box.

Really just a mish mash mix of really old stuff which I really really want to use up. Some of the pieces didn't quite "match" so I used a black pen to add some line work.

Happy Monday friends!

Tuesday's red decorated box

These days I've been challenging myself to think of creative ways to decorate a box without covering the base design.

Like this gorgeous red box with embossed gold speckles.

I kept everything really simple and used the embossed gold speckles to help create "movement". :)

Wednesday

Workspace Wednesday - colourful decorated box project

Sometimes you get challenged with a particular box design because it's so bold and colourful to begin with....

Like this bright and "loud" box from skincare supplies.

Of course, one has the option to just cover the entire box...but I just pulled from the existing colours and tried to match the overall vibe of the patterns. :)

Make Stuff Monday - decorating a patterned box

Sometimes the gift box itself is already very pretty...and you don't have to do much to enhance it.

Here is the said box with the lovely patterned design all over....

Added a fun "scene" and I'm all done. I think it may be great for some sweet treats eh? :)

Happy 2025! Let's make a fresh start!

Happy 2025 friends! It's a brand new year...let's make a fresh start! *high fives all around*

The end of the gifting season also means that this gal has a fresh new supply of boxes to upcycle and decorate! Yay! And yes, we're still pearl misting our projects this year...because shimmer just makes everything look better right? *winks*

Thursday's desk - this week's decorated box

Found another sturdy box and just had to decorate it of course...*winks*

Started with this lovely sturdy box which had a nice sheen and a gold edging.

Since I used a patterned paper base, I used a solid mat for my embellishment cluster to have a visual pop.

Happy Thursday friends!
