You rock

"You rock!" I said to myself this morning in order to psyche myself out of this creative rut I've been in for the last week or so. I blame it on recent insomnia which has left me a little crankier than usual. And overwhelmed. I guess the sleep-deprived tend to overthink things...*LOL*...I got to wondering what my creative style is...hard to tell since I dabble in EVERYTHING. What do you think is my style?

Oh well, getting up in the wee hours does have its perks...no distractions...I made this layout just this morning! :) My oldest nephew... always photo-ready! :) The base paper is from Far Flung Craft and the rest are paper scraps from Sassafras..:)

Of course, I had to add some cute stickers and that happy little cup charm. Letters are from American Crafts.

On the road

Don't you like to be on the road, soaking in the sights and smells when on vacation? :)

I tried my hand at a little doodling on this layout...okay, it's evident I need more practice! *LOL* I remember the hours I spent on the phone chatting and doodling when I was a teenager...those were great doodles! ;) No patterned paper on this one! Just a piece of white cardstock and mists! The cute images (Hero Arts) were stamped and coloured in with copics, propped on 3D dots for some dimension. Some handstiching along the border of the photo. The photo was my attempt at taking a picture in a high-speed moving car that included me in the side mirror [of course, you can always trust your friend to drive faster when you're attempting this feat!] I used the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays...:)

The new sketch at Card Patterns is up! And here's my card...From my heart to yours...:)  Yeah...a lot of red on this card! :) A little misting on white cardstock, colouring with copics and handstitching. Stamps are from Hero Arts. Isn't she the sweetest little thing? :)

Treasure hunters

So my sister and I were treasure hunters, driving our desert jeep through an abandoned Egyptian excavation site...Okay, it was a totally lame ride (they tell you it's a really slow kids' ride) but we took lots of fun photos! :) One day at Universal Studios and we took 430 photos! :)

I used Sassafras papers along with the cutest embellishments from the Purple People Eater Mixed Media Color Kit and the Envy Green Mixed Media Color Kit. Totally fun! :) Love the layered doilies...this time, I added some sparkling stars! Some inking on the edges (with distress ink) and handstitching! :) Chipboard letters are from Heidi Swapp..originally white, I coloured them with a purple Sharpie!

Far far away

Hello from Far far away...at Universal Studios Singapore that is...My sister and I spent a day there last month. Anyway, we spent a huge amount of time taking photos with the cute merchandise...check out the third photo of us pretending to be sad because we were on possibly the world's smallest ferris wheel (and possibly the lamest ride ever! ). 

As promised in my last post, I did a little misting and stamping to create textures on this layout!

The title letters were stamped on white cardstock, cut out and adhered to the layout (I added some 3D dots on some of the letters for some extra dimension). The letter stamps are from Prima, the word stamps are from Technique Tuesday and the castle stamp is from Imaginisce.

The little bits of embellishments are from Gauche Alchemy. Speaking of which, do play along with Scrapping The Music's prompt this week to win some Gauche Alchemy goodies.  This week's song is Aerosmith's "I don't wanna miss a thing".

Create textures through stamping with Jeanet!

Hello friends! Today I want to introduce you to my talented friend Jeanet from The Netherlands! I just love her creative style which includes lots of misting, painting and stamping to create lots of amazing textures! Today she's sharing how textures can be created using stamps! But first, let's take a look at some of her beautiful work!

I'm really honored Yvonne asked me to be a guest blogger on her beautiful blog "Do more with less", just love her blog - it's so inviting, friendly and inspiring.....and I love Yvonne's short posts!! Yvonne and i are fellow Dt members on Scrapping The Music and i'm so happy we met online and became friends through blogging! She is just the sweetest girl, she sends me gorgeous gifts and cards...and she always leaves me such sweet comments on my blog!Not to mention Yvonne's work...it's always beautiful and full of color, the greatest titles, the cutest cards and ...did you notice this girl's awesome stitching??!! It's all eye candy!!

So Yvonne asked me to do a little challenge, and i thought of this:

I know we all have stamps somewhere in our scrappy rooms, but i guess we don't use them very often...i challenge you to just use 'em on your layouts. Not only for a title but to create a fun background with stamps.

On this layout, I used different word stamps, a numbers stamp and some circle stamps...makes a great background. just stamp anywhere you want. Add photos and  patterned paper if you like and you can create your own background.I used a little glimmermist too. It's even cool to stamp on patterned paper.

On this layout I used flower stamps, stamped over them with the same stamp in a different color, so you get a nice effect...I also stamped the flowers and the angel on pieces of cardstock, cut that out and glued them on the layout to give additional texture... you can ink the stamped pieces or color them, leave them white or stamp on a colored piece of cardstock...lots of possibilities, looks great on cards too!And again I used a little bit of glimmermist. Just experiment and have fun with your stamps!!

All mine now

Ahh..."All mine now..." ..possibly what my father was thinking...;)...as he fetched his bride...

I am playing along with Let's get shabby's latest challenge to incorporate paint, chipboard and lace. Patterned paper is from Graphic 45...edges distressed and inked with the background glimmer misted for a little sparkle! I also added some crackle paint in rock candy for subtle cracks on some parts of the paper [you may have to use your imagination for this...it doesn't show up in the photos!].

The chipboard key (from Delish) was painted with crackle paint and blended with distressed inks. A little tulle! :)

The "frame" for the photo was assembled with 3 pieces of doiley. Some distressed stickles in rock candy for the glass glitter finish...pearls, some gathered lace and 7gypsies velvet flowers. Stickers are from Cosmo Cricket and chipboard from Pink Paislee.

Upcycled gold tin

It's Theme Day over at Gauche Alchemy and my project is an upcycled gold tin! :) A really easy project using an old tea tin, decoupaged with 7 Gypsies patterned paper, overlayed with yummy punchinella in gold and topped with embellishments from the Yellow Hammock Mixed Media Color kit. I love how gold and sparkly it is...:) Hmmm...what should I put in it?

Watching the evening sun

I was watching the evening sun...on board the A380... love this plane...there's this extra compartment to store your stuff when you score the window seat [yeah, I'm one of those big bag ladies...isn't such a hassle to get something from the overhead compartment?]. This layout was inspired by the latest challenge over at Scrapping The Music which is the song Fragile by Sting. A really simple and quick layout. Patterned papers are from Jillibean, crepe paper, doiley, MS border punch and felt cherries (Sassafras).

By the sea

Ahhh...I wonder what it would be like to live by the sea..white sandy beach, clear blue waters and the salty air...[even though I'll probably be at the beach at dawn and dusk only! I want to be fair and freckle-free! ;)] This picture was taken along the Great Ocean Road Drive in Australia...and I created this layout with Webster's Pages patterned paper, a little orange mist (my current fave hue!:) and the cute embellishments from the Lady Marmelade Orange Mixed Media Color Kit! Flowers are from Prima, sea creature stickers and for the title, I used SEI stickers. (This post was in the Gauche Alchemy blog earlier this week.)

I love how vibrant the orange embellishments are! I used the orange fibers to "frame" to photo and embellished with some bling!

And so totally cute! Check out the stirrer and goggles! And I can't help it...had to add some stickers...in the form of the white cloud and the balloon...:) And some handstitching..

P/s: Thanks for all the lovely comments on my last post. A lot of you commented on how splendid my stamping was...but they were rub-ons! ;)

Dear sweet nephew S,

When you smile, you really light up the room! :) I'm happy that it's so easy to coax you out of a bad mood. And that you always make the effort to smile for me when I stick the camera in your face! May you always look on the bright side of life and smile always!

 A fun layout using My Little Shoebox papers! How did I not discover MLS till now? I scored some of last year's papers from a friend who sold them to me (thanks Y!)...so I mixed them with the new stuff! :)

Some misting and ink dripping using two different shades of orange mist ...some rubons, stickers (SRM & 7 Gypsies), brads and my MS border punch! :)

Hi there! Just a simple layout to share today! Fun with dad features my friend K's husband and son enjoying time together at a pool. Hello friends! Gauche Alchemy's monthly challenge is up! And it's a celebration of mothers! My layout, Chic, features my chic mother back in 1970 when she was a swinging single gal. :) I used the pink, green and yellow mixed media color kits. :)

Patterned paper is from The Girls' Paperie. I made my own button with fabric [okay the butterfly's a little off center]...7Gypsies, stickles...

Some handstitching [cheated a little and poked holes in some of the panels though ;], journaling was written on a piece of doiley...:) Come play along! Check out the details here!
