The week in eye drawings

This week has been all about rediscovering the Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils as I get into my new sketchbook which has super smooth and ultra-thin pages.

I'm also playing with a limited colour palette...from a friend's stash of Prisma Premier Colored Pencils that I was recently tasked to "save" from the jaws of death (aka the trash bin).

These pencils are way softer and more waxy than the Holbeins so you get a lot of blending but lose out on the details.

I'm also reminded of the "mess" that it creates as you colour...and the constant need to sharpen the pencils.

But it's been fun! :)

Friday's desk - this week's eye drawings

Happy Friday friends! Today I'm sharing some of the eye drawings I did this week. :)

It's the only thing I've been keeping up with on a somewhat daily basis. I am a little bored with the subject matter but only 20 + pages to go in my little sketchbook. And I'm getting really proficient at eye drawing...each one takes about 45 minutes max...and on a good day, I can get 3 drawn. (I share a daily eye sketch on IG.)

I want to go back to drawing portraits in November so these are really good for practice.

Enjoy your weekend friends! :)

Monday

Mixed Media Monday - another week of mixed media eye drawings

Has it been a week? Oops...I may be a little behind in the eye drawings. *sheepish grin*

But I did try to increase the complexity of the mixed media eye drawings...

And got a teeny weeny bit overzealous with the white highlights. *LOL*

And maybe the lashes...

But I had fun along the way. :)

Happy week ahead friends!

Mixed Media Monday - 1 colour palette 5 eye drawings

So I decided to challenge myself to see how different my eye drawings can be when I limit my colour palette....*winks* I used Primacolor Premier Colored Pencils and for highlights - a Posca white acrylic paint marker and a Signo Uniball pen.

I did wish I picked a dark brown in my lineup to help with the darks because the black can be a bit severe if heavy-handed. But the dark purple did help and I just had to be light-handed when using the black.

Overall, I think I did a decent job with the limited colour palette...*high fives all around* I think it's a great way to practise drawing without decision paralysis on colour choices. That said, I'm happy to move on to a new self-imposed challenge. :)

How did I fare on the 1 colour palette 5 eye drawings challenge?

Tuesday

A page from my travel sketchbook

Well, this gal has finally gotten on a plane again *high fives all around*. Here is a page from my travel sketchbook. I did the first eye in pencil because I didn't want to take out my box of coloured pencils on the plane. Then I remembered how bad my graphite sketches were and did the second eye in coloured pencils. Way better right? *LOL* Definitely need to work on my graphite drawings though. :)

Finale - the last of my eye drawings for #the100dayproject

And so this is it...the end of #the100dayproject2021...and I completed it with 100 mixed media eye drawings! Yay! Go me! *high fives all around*

Meet 97/100.

And 98/100.

Say hello to 99/100.

And the finale - mixed media eye 100/100. :)

Gotta say that yesterday was a weird day because I did not have to do an eye drawing. I had gotten so used to devoting 60 minutes a day on each drawing. I need to find another series of projects to work on. Any ideas? *winks*

Thursday

Yet another week in eye drawings

I can't believe that I have done 96 eye drawings since January 31 this year. Some have been pretty shady (pun intended) but most have actually turned out quite decent. *self-praise* Hahaha!

Meet 90/100.

Since I was getting too comfortable with my choice of mixed media materials, I decided to add some new friends to the mix...like my highly neglected Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water-soluble crayons. :)

This was 91/100.

And now I might have a slight obsession with the ArtGraf watehrsouble pencil in gray. I have had it for years and never used it. Now that I've actually used it, I can't seem to get enough of it. I should stop buying art supplies and just shop my stash...it's clear that I own some good stuff. *winks*

Say hi to 92/100.

Played with darks for 93/100.

A muted colour palette for 94/100.

Tried a textured Kraft paper for 95/100 and hated it because it was so hard to blend.

Went for bold and colourful for 96/100.

There you have it, yet another week in eye drawings. Just 4 more and I would successfully complete #the100dayproject2021! Pretty excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! :)

My week in eye drawings...

Another week has gone by and here are my eye drawings for #the100dayproject. :)

Meet 83/100.

And 84/100.

Tried an angled eye for 85/100.

Here is 86/100.

A different angle for 87/100.

A sleepy eye because I had a long day..88/100.

And today's eye..89/100.

Almost to the finishing line...can't wait to finish up the last 11 days so that I can draw something else. *LOL*
