3 things I learned from 1 year of blogging
Okay, I've definitely learned more than 3 things from 1 year of blogging but these 3 things stand out.
1. Comments. Comments. Comments. The mainstay of a blog. I think I'm better at commenting than I am at writing posts. Especially answering questions. I've stopped leaving single word comments because when people leave me those, I wonder if they actually read my post. So if I comment, it's actually at least 2 lines. More if I like the person and we've become friends. Way more if you ask a lot of questions. I leave a comment on every blog I visit (unless there are technical difficulties) and I visit return blog visits unless the person hides their profile.
2. Google reader is the best invention after cable tv (in my opinion :). It's a time-saver...really helps you organize the posts you want to read ( I hit the blogs I follow FIRST). You can share posts with friends and bookmark items you want to revisit. The only scary thing is when you go away and have no internet connection and then check back to see that you have 1000 + unread posts...lol..
3. Playing in carnivals is possibly the single best way to make new friends with a common interest. I started playing in photo memes, then card carnivals and blog hops. It is a lot of work but the fastest way to network.
What have you learned from blogging?
This layout was inspired by the challenge at Method Playground to go green. I used a mirror (from an old compact), a key (spoiled lock) and a brown paper bag. Patterned paper from Collage Press, vinyl letters from American Crafts. Some pearls, buttons and bling. Pin It

My guilty pleasure
Oh yes. I confess. My guilty pleasure is entertainment news. I love to watch it and read about it. I may not believe everything I hear or read but I'm secretly happy to know that celebrities aren't "perfect". I don't appreciate the methods the paparazzi use to get the so-called scoops but I enjoy seeing pictures of "stars without makeup" or how the celebrities have to starve themselves to look good for a premiere...Poor things...all the money and they can't eat what they want and pay trainers to torture them...haha! (insert evil laugh here)... What's your guilty pleasure?
Just a little misting on cardstock, lace, lovely 7Gypsies velvet flower (thanks Amy!), American Crafts letters, Kaiser Craft paper (babuska doll), We R Memory Keepers gromlet...

Method Playground Challenge - using frames

Supplies: Patterned paper: Kaiser (Butterflies), Cardstock: Bazzill (pink, magenta, white & brown), MDF Swirl frames: Kaiser, Wooden butterflies: Kaiser, Leaf felt: Queen & Co, Pearls: Kaiser, Puffy Stickers: American Crafts (pink & blue). Others: gold pen, white pen, Fiskars border punch
The challenge over at Method Playground is to incorporate some frames in your LO. My piece was done on an 12x18 acrylic. Here are some closeups...

The "frames" are real frames (MDF by Kaiser). I used Tim Holtz swirl mask and used brown paint. Then I sanded the frame and glimmer misted with gold and further outlined with a gold pen. The butterflies were cut from patterned paper, folded and adhered to the frame. Pearls were added for more dimension. I also added string pearls along the perimeter of the photos to draw the eye to the photos.

Method Playground Challenge - 5 different papers from 5 different manufacturers

So, the challenge over at Method Playground is to use 5 different papers from 5 different manufacturers. I used my scraps on this and had fun scrapping this "funny" photo I took of my nephews...they were wearing princess crowns..yeah tiaras...don't get me wrong, they were definitely willing participants in this...
Here's the story:
I was sorting my stash when the older one spied my crowns. His eyes wide open, he asked if those were crowns..like the one the Prince in Cinderella wore (yes, that's his favorite fairy tale). When I said, "yes", he looked at me pleadingly and I had to ask if he wanted to try them on..I had 3 crowns so all 3 of us wore the crowns and had fun taking photos. This will be hilarious now and in the future (LOL)! :)

Supplies
Patterned paper: Making memories, Graphic 45, October Afternoon, Teresa Collins, Basic Grey
Stickers: Toga, EK Success
Brads: Junkitz, American Crafts
Others: Ribbon, skeleton charm, tiara/princess crown, Sakura micro pigment pen, animal stickers Pin It
