We recently celebrated Papa Yam's birthday!
He got to choose the cuisine (he went with Thai) and also got his fave mango birthday cake.
Enjoy your weekend friends!

Still trying to get the hang of working on toned tan paper for my eye drawings...
I do enjoy the depth I can achieve with a few more layers. :)
An ode to the pineapple tarts I make every Chinese New Year. They aren't difficult to make but they are very time-consuming to make. The dough has to be weighed. The filling has to be weighed. They then have to be rolled into balls, glazed with an egg yolk and milk mix and baked for 35 minutes. In my tiny oven for 3 rounds to get a total of 90 egg tarts. Which people just pop into their mouths like candy.
Which is why I only make them once a year. *LOL*
In case you were wondering, I tore some pages from an old cheap sketchbook and just glued them on my birdie playbook. It's thicker than the notepaper with a little bit of tooth but of course, not the best quality. You can see some peeling from areas where I added too much water. But I love that I "saved" the page with a mix of mediums. I forgot how fun it was to experiment!
Happy week ahead friends! :)
This week has been particularly stressful so I'm back into my eye drawing therapy.
Still love blue eyes the most.
And yes, I've really been enjoying that neon pink coloured pencil. A lot. *winks*
Hello friends! Just wanted to share the pretties from a recent happy mail! Maybe you can spot some bits that I've already used? *winks*
I love my miniature perfumes...so I was really happy to be gifted these by my cousin. Since I printed a floral border design on the photo, I added a strip of vine washi tape to extend the theme. I went with a girly gal to "frame" the other side. I really like how this turned out. :)
Happy Monday! Just a quick decorated paper bag project with bits from a recent happy mail.
Tried to use the decorated collage piece as is and just added a few extra elements to make it more "me".
And here is my completed project. :)
What do you think?
Still enjoying my eye drawings despite being obsessed with mixed media birds at the moment. *LOL*
Yes, still enjoying the luminosity of those neon coloured pencils too. :)
I loved the cherry blossom branch I got from the Hanoi market. There were new blooms every day right until CNY. It did get fed with a sugar and vinegar solution every day for an extra boost. :)
Who knew birdies were the way to go when it came to getting back to my mixed media supplies? *winks*
Yep. Used my Faber Castell gelatos and Pitt pens. Along with Holbein coloured pencils and Posca acrylic paint pens.
Happy week ahead friends!
P/s: Never knew there were so many types of colourful birds that I could draw/paint! Love that my little birdie play book is filling up nicely. :)
Well, the girl has been fairly distracted by the birdie play book so there's just one eye drawing for the week... *winks*
Happy weekend friends!:)
Just love this adorable crochet bunny flower in a pot that I bought from a street vendor in Hanoi. Super cute! It has a place right next to my monitor. :)
It's not always easy to bring the old folks out because they tire so easily. But we did try for a couple of hours on May 16.
We left at 10am (after mum took a nap) and headed straight down to the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. They were between exhibits so we did get to see some tulips (previous exhibit) and Lillies (the new one). My faves!:)
Well, the girl has been keeping up with her birdie play book. Here are this week's mixed media birds. :)
Hello friends! I have been getting back into my mixed media supplies...even glued some paper scraps with gel medium and played with my acrylic paints for the background of this upcycled box (*yay...go me!).
And then I pretty much went a little crazy with the fun scrap bits. :)
