A lot of you have asked about how I create the abstract backgrounds of my layouts. The base is always created from residual mists from previous projects...I just keep using the same sheet of watercolour paper [takes "abuse" better than regular cardstock!]. It's very interesting to see how the layers of colours build up to create a spectacle of a background [At least to me...*winks*].
When I'm finally ready to use the base, I add colours to complement my photos. Love these photos of the nephews and niece playing with fun spectacles. *winks* For this layout, I added Daler-Rowney liquid acrylics in green and yellow [okay so I only have 4 colours in total so I didn't exactly have choices...*LOL*]
Then I added some Purple Pumpkin embellishments to finish off my layout based on the May sketch at Purple Pumpkin. Come play along! :)
P/s: A couple of reminders - my guest Lizzy's challenge ends on Friday, LESSology Challenge #24: Are you a Cover girl? ends on Sunday and I also have a Faber Castell Design Memory Craft giveaway.

Love the background and can't believe it is created just from overspray from other projects.
The Niece and Nephews are adorable with the glasses.

Seriously, what a fab idea! Most people use art journal pages to "absorb" the extra paints/mists...you put it on WC paper and basically have your own unique BGs ready for your next page! Brilliant!!
I love that background, it is an awesome layout Yvonne!
Awesome!
What an amazing LO your misted Bg really looks fabulous ! this is one tip I will definitely keep in mind when creating a mixed media project :) ..your niece and nephew look so adorable in glasses :)

Great idea for bgs...using the watercolour paper must help, too....LOVE that saying about nuts in families...how true! And that delicious blue PP doily...fun LO:):):)

One more fun layout ! I liked the text.."Family is like a fudge...". Goes perfectly with the snaps .You always create fab bg for your layout Yvonne. This one is no exception
I've bought the watercolour paper - now just need to cut it to size and stop wasting mist!! Your backgrounds rock Yvonne!!
Your backgrounds are always truly amazing, and I love to see your finished projects. You put together the most interesting goodies, making your work truly unique. I would never think of adding that Elmo circle on this......but my gosh, it soooo works. You are brilliant!
Fascinating! I didn't realize you were using watercolor paper as your base, nor did I realize that you used the same sheet of paper for multiple residual mist transfers. So unique and so cool!
