Going places

Going places

That's what I think every time I look at a map...going places...:)
I shared this altered board book last week on the Gauche Alchemy blog.

Love this map paper from the Wholey Sheet Mixed Media Kit...which I adhered to the front and back of a board book...Edges were inked with distress ink in black soot.

I added some rub-ons (American Crafts), stickers (Studio Calico) and pearls (Kaiser Craft) for the titlework. The black portion is 7 Gypsies gaffer tape. I added glossy accents to the gray stickers because they kept coming off but I actually like the end result...:)

And embellished with supplies from the various mixed media color kits...the Winter Slush Blue and Silver Mixed Media Mega Color Kit, the Pink Parts Mixed Media Color Kit and the Banana Hammock Yellow Mixed Media Color Kit. The bird was cut from a playing card...I added distress stickles in rock candy so it really sparkles...:) It's perched on a barrette and  popsicle stick  The heart chipboard (Fancy Pants) was misted and then the edges were inked with distress inks.

Here are the inner pages...all October Afternoon papers...

Going places inner pages 2

I've actually cut the inner pages so they line up like tabs. And provide more possibilities since I can add dimensional stuff, especially on the last page.

Any ideas on how I should embellish the inner pages? I would LOVE to hear your ideas! :)

ONly you can turn any map into a work of art! Awesome album. Love the papers and elements! I say decorate the pages with items from your trip -- receipts, ticket stubs, even condiment packets. Write a little blurb about them so you'll have memories forever!

It really is stunning. I would keep embellishments quite simple as it's so beautiful already. I like the idea of tickets etc that someone here made.

Now, I generally carry back brochures, information booklets, tickets etc from any place I visit. I was planning to use them with my own pics of that place..

fantastic book, i love maps too :D

i would embellish after I took the trip (or if it was about trips I wanted to take, then after I found photos to go with).

we'd all love to see it when it is finished :D
