Juhi's handmade cards

Hello friends, today I'm introducing you to my blog friend from India - Juhi Khanna of Juhi's Handmade Cards! I "met" Juhi through Card Patterns last year and I love that her cards always has lots of textures and bright vibrant colours! She's great at crochet and quilling (Two things I've been meaning to learn! :)...

Hi, I'm Juhi from Bangalore, India and I am the guest blogger at Yvonne's blog for today. This is truly an honour for me because I am a HUGE admirer of her work. I would like to thank Yvonne for giving me this opportunity.

Now a little bit more about me...I am an electronics engineer who works with a semiconductor company at Bangalore. I discovered cardmaking a little more than a year ago and it has become almost an obsession now.

I love working with bright colors. My color inspiration comes from the rich textures and colors of Indian handmade paper. Since very few scrapbooking/cardmaking products are available in India I try to make the most of locally available materials which is intimidating at times but huge fun most of the times as it helps me think out of the box. 

I like to combine different styles and techniques in my work, for example add a quilled creation on a regular card (mostly because I am too impatient and lazy to make an entire quilled card :P ).This is what I have done on this project for my guest post. 

My challenge for you is to make a hybrid quilled project, i.e. add some quilling to your project, it need not be a flower, you can be as abstract as you want.........this is especially for those who haven't tried quilling yet (including you Yvonne!), trust me it's not as difficult as it seems and its a whole lot of fun too! So go on and surprise me..........

No time to lose. Too much life to taste.

This week's challenge at Scrapping the Music is the song 40 Dogs by Bob Schneider. My layout "No time to lose. Too much life to taste" features adorable little Toot, my friend Maggi's little girl...such a cutie eh? You can tell I really like the floral paper from Girls Paperie because here it is again! I just used it on this layout! This time I added some handstitching and some stickles (Maggi really likes glitter! :). I used my scraps from a Teresa Collins paper to make some flowers and added bling flowers too. The titlework/journaling was a mixture of white stickers which I adhered directly on the photo. The chipboard is from K & Co. Pink mist is from Maya Road.

This was what I got when I asked my nephew J to smile for me - he lunged towards the camera and gave me a smirk! Using Jillibean Soup goodness, Maya mist, buttons and stickers! :)

Baby Cheyenne

Welcome to the family Baby Cheyenne! My cousin R's first baby and my first niece!:) Love that the floral paper (Girls Paperie) matches her sweet dress...love the pink green combo! :)

Pink mist on the white cardstock, fussy paper cutting and some lovely ZVA bling (courtesy of Amy! ). Chipboard is from K & Co, quote is from Teresa Collins, chipboard letters are from Heidi Swapp (topped with pink stickles), letter brads are from EK Success, some floral paper scraps from American Crafts, button and pearls.

I donut what I would do without you!

Hey there! It's time for another sketch over at Card Patterns! This week's sponsor is Hero Arts so make sure you play along for your chance to win the Have a Donut 4x6 clear set! Yes, it's the one I used here...I donut what I would do without you! and also for this card... I did a lot of stamping on this one...(which is a great achievement for me! :) I coloured my donuts with Copics, added some stickles and glossy accents.

Melbourne in Autumn

This was a quick layout I put together for the challenge at Scrap It Lah. The fussy cutting was done a while ago (while watching tv ;) so I just had to assemble the pieces and glue them down. My layout, Melbourne in Autumn, features the view of the city from my hotel room (37th floor of the Sofitel).

Patterned paper is from Imagination Project, flowers from Sullivan's, bling brads and butterflies (courtesy of Cindy Lee), rub-ons are from Autumn leaves, title letters are from SEI and Cosmo Cricket. Pin It

It's movie tribute week at Scrapping The Music and this week's song is Footloose - a really catchy tune by Kenny Loggins! My layout features me at one of the numerous beaches along the Great Ocean Road...:)

I can't seem to photograph this layout well...there is silver mist on the white cardstock for some nice shimmer that matches that silver strip of wrapping ribbon (guess you have to imagine it..:) Patterned papers are from American Crafts...some handstitching on the blooms and the word "cool"...observations stamp is by 7 Gypsies...felt butterfly (from my friend Mirjam! )...journaling is written on the photo..:) Pin It

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Here's a quick card for you my friends! To thank you from the bottom of my heart..for all the sweet comments in yesterday's post! :)

Just some paper scraps...the white portion is actually an upcycled coaster...I misted lightly with light green glimmer mist and covered the drink-stained parts with patterned paper...added the lace bow and button and some stickers! (I got tired of handstitching which explains why only the bottom part has stitching! *LOL*)..

Enjoy family time

A moment lasts for all of a second but the memory lives on forever. So enjoy family time! My layout features my brother, his two sons and my mother last November when we attended the boys' dance performance. The plan was to leave right after their slated performance but the boys had to stay till the end of the show...:( Fortunately, one of the teachers recognized me (hard to forget the aunt who visits day care with a camera  frequently..haha!:) and gave in to my pleas for a quick photo! :)

Paper scraps from My Little Showbox, misting in light blue and yellow (Maya mists), letter stickers are from Studio Calico, chipboard tag (K & Co), brads, ribbon, button and some handstitching. Love the clear plastic birds on the clouds (got them from the toy store!)

Is it here? The food that is...I don't know about you but I get cranky when I'm hungry! Here I was, at a Melbourne restaurant, waiting impatiently for dinner to be served...(if you want to have a good laugh, read my journaling...my gluttony thoughts on food...*LOL* :)

Cosmo Cricket goodness! :) Some light misting on the background (light blue). And some stickers! Journaling was printed on transparency...and I did some stamping (Technique Tuesday) along the edges of the photos (check it out K!)...:)

I coloured my cute image with copics, cut it out and mounted with 3D dots on felt-cut grass...the "flowers" are pins from Heidi Grace...lace and button...letter stickers are from Cosmo Cricket (my latest go-to staple:). I love felt...it just adds texture without bulk...:)

Pavlova

So, did you enjoy the tutorial shared by Cindy yesterday? I loved that it was a simple technique with a really spectacular result! :) As promised, here's my inspired piece...My layout, Pavlova (a meringue-based dessert), features a little masking/misting. The leaves were coloured in with Copics...some handstitching, iron-on strawberries, googly eyes and Prima flowers. Heidi Swapp mask...glimmer mist. Patterned papers are from Sassafras and Cosmo Cricket.

A little too cutesy eh? ;)

Hello friends! :) I've a treat for you today! My guest is the sweet Cindy Lee from My Lil Crafty Corner! Some of you might recognize her as the pretty bride from this project I made...:) She is an incredibly talented cardmaker and makes gorgeous cards! :)

When I received an email from Yvonne asking me to be guest on her blog, my mind went blank and when it started functioning again, I shrieked with excitement, "Oh my! Is this for real?" Oh yes it is! Here I am taking over her blog as the guest for today. Yvonne is a wonderful friend I met through blogging and I thank her for giving me the honor of sharing my work with you!



Here is a little something about myself. My name is Cindy and I'm from Malaysia. I discovered cardmaking two years ago when I was introduced to a local scrapbooking store by a friend. Then, I started blogging and LOVE the whole process especially all the wonderful friends I have made and the opportunities that have come my way.


I am constantly inspired by the beautiful work that some of my favourite designers make.I also enjoy flipping through the colorful pages of the home decor magazines that I buy every month. It is my one-stop place for color inspirations.

I made this card for my guest post at "Do more with less". Below is the simple tutorial on how I created the masked background.

  Gather your supplies: Lace cardstock, white cardstock,acrylic paint and sponge applicator.

Cut the lace cardstock and layer on a piece of white cardstock.

Using a sponge applicator, fill the 'white' space with paint.

Remove the lace cardstock while the paint is still wet to reveal the masked background.

I had a blast creating this and my challenge to you is to create a project using a mask! It could be anything that tickles your fancy!  I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Have fun!

And my little project! I love those cute little charms my dad got me from China..:) My "hands" are actually brads (baby handprints!) that were white but I coloured in with Copics (my new love :)...notice how I placed flowers strategically around the area where I'm supposed to have shoes? The shoes I made just didn't look right and it looked odd to be feetless *LOL*...the clothes are iron-ons...patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket. Base is felt mounted on a piece of wood.
