Morning tea at The Tearoom...

So I finally got to enjoy morning at The Tearoom at the iconic Queen Victoria Building in Sydney. It was a decadent indulgence after a long red-eye flight. :)

The couple seated before us was dressed to the nines in labels to match the grand decor of the place....while I was still wearing my in-flight outfit because it was too early to check-in! At least they didn't turn me away...*LOL*

The morning tea was scrumptious and terribly sinful. Even the macaron was yummy. [I typically find meringue-based confections too sweet for my liking.]

Lot of fun with a new medium - Liquitex resin sand, mixed with glass bead gel and mica flakes. Love the shimmering effect.

Everyone loves dino cupcakes!

So one of my best buys from last month's trip to Sydney was the dinosaur cupcake mold. Because everyone loves the dinosaur cupcakes! Yep...who wants regular cupcakes when you can get dino ones, right? *winks*

The T-Rex is particularly popular but generally everyone got a kick out of biting every dinosaur's head off....*LOL*

The 20 minute layout

Sometimes, limiting your craft supplies makes it much easier and faster to complete your layout because there are fewer elements to fiddle around with. 

For this layout, I challenged myself to use only black or white embellishments [to match the photos taken with my bloggy pal Lynnda when we met in Melbourne]. Once I adhered the photo and the largest element - the swirl, the rest of the elements fell into place quickly and I had this layout done in 20 minutes. :)

The art class is in session...

So the two older nephews have started their own mixed media art journals! :)

The art class is in session....playing with Derwent Inktense Blocks...they love spritzing water and seeing the colours mix! [Can you spot the washi tape? *winks*]

The background was created with a ScrapFX stencil + Maya mists + some Ranger distress stain splats! :)

The patterned paper mystery....

I pride myself on being very "controlled" when it comes to scrapbooking supplies. I don't buy paper packs. Because I have a tendency to get bored with the same pattern. I buy individual pieces that I really love from each collection and prefer to make my own embellishments from found objects.. And I haven't bought any patterned paper since September 2012. So why is it I'm still drowning in patterned papers? A real mystery eh? *LOL*

I had a lot of fun creating this little "scene" - my nephews and niece with their great-grandma and grand-aunt.  It's a composite of 2 photos actually. *winks*

Meeting a kindred spirit... :)

I recently visited Kuala Lumpur and met up with bloggy pal Shahrul Niza. We hit it off instantly. :)

Lunch and an afternoon of sightseeing became 2 lunches, 2 teas, 1 afternoon of sight-seeing and 1 afternoon of mixed media play at a local scrapbooking store Scrappingville. :)

Always nice to meet a kindred spirit. We were like giggling schoolgirls every time we saw something pretty or yummy...like red velvet cake...:)

Nah...it's just me in a wig with really heavy bangs and big curls. *LOL*

Now a wig may be the "insta-chic" solution for a wash-and-go person like me....if only I could stop giggling when I wear it....*winks* Plus my sister says it looks like "I'm trying too hard!" [insert super sad face]. Needless to say, I haven't worn it out yet....hahahaha....

Mahjong - the cure for a sprained ankle...

The reason why I spend so much time with the nephews and niece is because my mother, brother and sister-in-law are obsessed with playing mahjong. Yep, we are all "mahjong-trained" in this family to stave off Alzheimer's disease...*LOL* I'm what you call the "filler" player, taking over when someone else has to leave....we don't play with money though, just chips and the one-week glory of being the big winner!

So when my mother sprained her ankle for the very first time....we proposed playing mahjong to take her mind off the pain...

It worked like a charm! She didn't complain about the pain until the game ended. Mahjong - the cure for a sprained ankle. *winks*

Shopping is really hard work...*LOL*

I confess. Whenever I go on a trip, I don't count calories. I just eat what I want. :)
There's nothing I like more than hot chocolate and a red velvet cupcake.
Especially after doing really hard work. Like shopping. *High fives all around*

I love map paper. This was scanned and printed on kraft paper [my travel pages are all 8.5x11]. Playing along with the challenge at Skissedilla.

The scene stealer.

Meet little Oliver. The scene stealer. My cousin's nephew. A mere toddler...he's winking at the camera! :)

And here he is using an umbrella as a prop. [I'll just look stupid posing with an umbrella...*LOL*]. An impromptu shot at my cousin's wedding.
