Chic bones...;)

Chic bones

I did this quick layout last night inspired by several challenges - the Lollipop Ladies and the fruit salad inspiration, the concepts at Mission to Create, the trims, ribbon and lace challenge at Show us your stuff - and the sudden compulsion to do a layout on me...*LOL*

I found some photos on my phone taken back in January when I was stuck in a traffic jam...back when I truly wanted to embark on a Project 52 (take weekly self-portraits)....which hasn't exactly panned out. *LOL* The title for the piece - Chic Bones (totally corny I know) was inspired by the fact that I watching Bones while working on the layout!

I used this plastic mesh frame (from Gauche Alchemy's Wholey Sheet Kit) as a mask and misted with the colours from the patterned paper onto white swiss dots cardstock.

I upcycled one of those twist-and-turn bottle caps - cut petals around, then added some wrinkle ribbon and baker's twine - for a fun handmade embellishment.

Patterned paper: Webster's Pages. Paper doilies. Maya mists. Trims. Ribbon. Lace. Baker's twine. Rub-on.

Brrrum!

Brrrum

Brrrum! I love this photo of my littlest nephew J playing with the red Ferrari ...a little rite of passage for all my nephews. The oldest nephew has promised to buy me a real one when he starts work...I'm thinking they might have an eco-friendly version in 15 years eh? *LOL*

Paint splatters on kraft cardstock. A little handstitching. Did a little stamping with Technique Tuesday stamps.

Check out that cute little calendar....I stamped some Stazon on shrink plastic and watched it shrink under my heat gun....sooooooo much fun (virgin shrinker here...*LOL*)

This was inspired by the challenge over at Mission to create. Patterned papers are from Pink Paislee.

Excuse me....and a winner!

Excuse me

Happy Thursday friends! :) Today's layout Excuse me features my littlest nephew J. I just love taking his picture. He's always camera-ready. And I haven't taken a bad shot of this cutie! :)

A little fussy cutting with My Little Shoebox papers...

A little button and Stickles action.

Layered title work using stickers and typed journaling (on transparency).

Inspired by the sketch at My Little Shoebox, the concepts at Mission to Create, the candy necklace/circle challenge at The Lollipop Ladies and my fave pastime challenge at TAAFOMFT.

And a big thank you to those who played along with my guest Laurel's paper-piecing challenge...the randomly picked winner is...

#8 Julie E with this adorable creation!

Congratulations Julie! :) Lucky you...Laurel's sending you some October Afternoon goodness! :)

A day in Uruguay

A day

A day. In Uruguay. My sister. In a dramatic pose.

I used punchinella as a mask and inked with distress inks. Then some spritzes and splatters of walnut ink. Map of South America printed on transparency. Various paper scraps. Stamping (Technique Tuesday and Heidi Swapp). Buttons from Gauche Alchemy's It's All Gravy Baby Brown Mixed Media Color Kit.

P/s: Come play along with my guest Dora Dekker's cone challenge! :)

* Edited* This layout was Top 6 in the Embellish challenge! :)

Crawl

Crawl

Did you crawl a lot when you were a baby? My older brother did. Apparently, he couldn't pass up on any stairs...*LOL*. Yes, I'm still scrapping his baby photos...he has a LOT of them. In all fairness, he was cute as a baby...Now...not so much...[insert evil laughter].

I had fun with this layout! :) Patterned papers are from Sassafras. Mist splatters. Buttons. Stickers. A little handstiching. A little bling. I was inspired by Sketchy Thursdays and Mission to Create.

P/s: Don't forget to submit your creations featuring handmade flowers for my guest Sherryann's challenge! It ends this Friday! :)

*Edited* This was a Sketchy Thursdays Fave! :)

Live a little...

Live a little..

This week's Scrapping the Music challenge is up! And the song is "Somedays you gotta dance" by the Dixie Chicks! My layout, Live a little...features cheese at Victoria Market...I just love cheese...do you? I had a great time just tasting the cheese ...:)...Anyway, I tried this paint splatter technique that I saw here...[okay, so it looks like I had an accident or something but it was my first attempt!] and I used the sketch over at MME and incorporated some of the concepts over at Mission to Create. Papers are from MME, yellow embellishments are from Gauche Alchemy..I just love my new MS border punch! :) And I actually distressed and inked the edges of the paper! :)

Back in 72

Back in 72

My mother always laughs when she sees this photo...back in 72 when so many relatives turned up at the studio where my parents were supposed to take their bridal photos...she even has her grandmother in the photo! She isn't the eldest in the family but the first one to get married so there was a lot of excitement!

Some misting on the cardstock (yes, orange is my current fave), patterned paper is from My Little Yellow Bicyle, I used a Fiskars border punch and a MS butterfly punch, ribbon on ribbon, tag is from MME and journaling tab is from K & Co, American Crafts puffy stickers, Studio Calico letter stickers (the word "back"), Heidi Swapp chipboard number (7) and Doodlebug sticker (2) and red button.

Inspired by Mission  to create and Sketchy Thursdays.
