My guest today is the immensely talented Elizaveta Danenkova from Russia. I "met" her when we were both on the Card Patterns design team. Liz has a knack for creating beautiful layered projects with great attention to the little details. She often combines contrasting colours in a harmonizing way that makes me wonder "now why didn't I think of that?" Today she shares how she creates a vintage layout in a step-by-step tutorial. She's also hosting a vintage-inspired challenge with a RAK for the winner! :)

First of all I want to say a big thanks to Yvonne for inviting me to be a guest on her blog. I really love her creative layouts and other projects.
I want to say a little about me. I live in Moscow, Russia with my husband and my daughter Margo who is 3 years old. I have been making layouts for about 2 years and am still very much enjoying it. I love painting with acrylic paint and cut a details from paper!! Also I really love work with ink.
I love making layouts in vintage style and today I want to show you how I do it.
Step 1: Dissolve a small amount of coffee in some warm water. Cut sheets from the book and paint them with the solution. Dry the pages with a heat tool.
Step 2: I used cardboard (from a box) as the base for the layout . Along the edges I remove the top layer to reveal the corrugated parts. Glue the pages to the cardboard.
Step 3: I chose to compose my layout using the visual triangle...selecting the spot for my photo and putting embellishments in the other two corners of the triangle.
Step 4: Ensure that the hues of the photo matches the background papers. Cut out the outline of the photo. Place a piece of vintage fabric under the photo.
Step 5: Start embellishing around the photo.
Step 6: Add some inked tags and the title.

I dye my pages and ribbon the same way. Infact in my post yesterday, I used a white lace which has been dyed in the same manner! I tell ya this that it dyes fast and strong, plus it smells GOOOD!!!
