Flowers galore! (mixed media canvas tutorial)

Flowers galore!
So I think I might have gone a teeny weeny bit overboard with the flowers on this 8x8 mixed media canvas. *LOL*

Can I claim that they were all part of a huge coverup? *winks*

Anyway, I was organizing my remnant lace and ribbon bits the other day and decided that I was going to use them all up on a canvas!

Well, I was a bit ambitious about the using them all up on a canvas part because I had enough for THREE canvases [still working on the other two] Anyway, this was one of the canvases. I adhered the remnant lace and ribbon bits randomly with matte medium.

After that, I painted the canvas with gesso. I went over with 2 or 3 layers of gesso because I didn't want the underlying colours to show. Then I misted with shimmering mists from ColourArte. Check out the amazing texture from the remnant pieces of lace/ribbon! :)

The last (but most fun) step was to embellish!

I added more texture to the piece by mixing paper blooms with resin ones and incorporating feathers, beads and mica flakes for allover shimmer. :)

Very cool! I throw out ribbons and lace when they get that small. I should start keeping them and give this a try!
