Has Pinterest taken over blogging?

Pure-goodness

This morning, I woke up to an email from Pinterest informing me that Cath Edvalson (Moxie Fab World) mentioned me in a pin. Curious, I clicked the link....it was yesterday's 5-minute card. :) On that same page I saw a link that said "Also from yyam.blogspot.com" and I just had to click! *LOL*

Screen grab from Pinterest

Turns out I've been unknowingly pinned many times by people who have sadly, never left me a comment on my blog. :(

The interesting thing is that I don't pin my own projects on Pinterest *LOL* Go check out who's been pinning you...http://pinterest.com/source/URL of your blog/

Has Pinterest taken over blogging? Should I start pinning and stop blogging? It would save quite a bit of time...[Hey it's hard to think of something witty to write about 5 days a week! *LOL*] What are your thoughts on this?

[This card which features the use of confetti was first shared in the Three Cool Chicks' Let's Get Trendy Now! workshop held in May.]
Supplies: Bazzill, Echo Park and GCD patterned papers, Ranger stickles in rock candy and Distress Ink in antique linen, Maya mist (for chipboard), Fancy Pants chipboard, SRM sticker (heart),twine, white pen, plastic confetti, wood embellishment, corner rounder, ribbon, trim, button.

This is so cool. I just checked out the link to see if I had been repinned by someone other than me. And I have-a few times. That's so awesome!! :) Love this card by the way! :)

This "accidently" happened to me the other day! I was browsing on Pinterest and came accross my layout that was pinned from my design team! Kinda weird to see your stuff out there when you don't know about it. I am slowly learning Pinterest but find it time consuming. I still prefer a Blog.

Everyone is using Pinterest and I seen many of my cards on there too and had no idea. So now I am actually on Pinterest.. but we still love blogging..

Your card is adorable..one of my most favorites..

You give up blogging and you will have to deal with me *wink* :)

I like both -- but I don't spend as much time on Pinterest as everything and everywhere else :) I pin from blogs... not from Pinterest directly.... so I still needs blogs (hint hint!!) to pin from :)

I didn't know about that link...hmmmmmmmmmm will need to check that out!!!

Loveeeeeeeeeee your card!! LOVING the jar and love love love all the bits inside!!!!!

Sorry! I removed my previous comment with all the spelling errors LOL!
I had a love/hate relationship with Pinterest at first. I didn't like their user agreement before but they changed it and made it less of a copy right issue to have someone else pin your work so I'm ok with it now. I have seen my blog comments dwindle now that people pin more but I must admit that having less time to peruse other people's blogs and leave comments really affects that as well.
You have an active readership and a distinct voice so I wouldn't stop blogging. It's more of an uphill battle for someone like me who doesn't blog as much as she used to and rarely leaves comments due to time constraints.
I use Pinterest to keep track of trends and to recommend scrappers I love to other scrappers. Also, when my brain is fried, I like to go and just look at lovely things. I rarely repin or leave comments- it's comforting and much more to my taste than mindless tv shows since I get to edit who I watch. ;) Congrats on the Moxie Fab World mention! % minute cards- now THAT is a skill worth developing!

No don't stop blogging please! You inspire and make so many teaching points on your blog! Don't get me wrong, I like Pinterest and it's so visually stimulating but funnily enough, if something catches my eye, I want to READ about it, dig deeper. And often I find myself on someone's blog... Love this card BTW ;)

Yvonne its true a lot of people pin nowadays without leaving comments on blog posts but I guess just the action of pinning our photos is such a high compliment!! I myself prefer to visit blogs and comment and yours is one blog where just reading your posts cheers up a person!!
keep blogging my dear friend!

Your jar is wonderful and love all the little bits inside. Yippee for you being pinned so many times.Sad that they had to pin the card, yet failed to leave a comment on something they cared enough about to pin.

Yvonne, to me Pinterest is no substitute for a blog. I love to read what you were thinking as you created a design, for whom and how it came to be created. Pinterest is really only a bulletin board to my mind, a place to see images you wanted to remember but not a human connection, as a rule. Please keep blogging!

Lovely card, confetti looked cute..Its a great compliment to get pinned so many times...Yet v love blogging and so please do post here too!!

I hope not because I really like posts and your fabulous creations, and I don't pintrist. In a world full of instant gratification, I suppose that is the way to go, just pin you because I like your project, but never read your entree's and never know the story or thoughts behind your projects, hmmmmm..... that would be sad.

sandi said...

Yeah, I see why you've been pinned....your creations are so inspiring!!!! This card is another cutie....love it!!!!

Cute card! Stick to blogging. I blog more then I pin.

NO! Blogging is so much more than Pinterest. I consider Pinterest to be a tool to help me find the bloggers I want to follow. I don't use Pinterest very much, though I do check once in a while to see which of my items are being pinned. Every once in a while, I see a huge surge of blog traffic that is due to a particular Pinterest pin.

cute card! I have done this "looking for your cards on pinterest" thing! lol tempting eh? sad too though tht these people took time to pin but not to comment :/

Roxy said...

Isn't that strange to see your stuff out there all of a sudden? Same thing happened to me! But please, don't stop blogging! I like to pin things that I'm going to revisit, usually a tutorial or instructions and not just the picture of the project, so I like having the blog link! Hugs, Roxy.

It is always interesting to see who follows you on Pinterest, and who is pinning your projects. I'm like you....seems to be mostly people who don't comment on my blog. :) But please don't stop blogging..........I love your witty stories that go along with your posts, and want to see more than just the one photo of each project. :)
LOVE this card! Always love the mason jars and love the fun-fetti you used in this one! Such sweet colors and papers, too! Looks like ice cream!

love love the yummy "candies" you put in the jar! such a sweet and beautiful card, Yvonne!

i am not surprised that you have been pinned hundreds of times! you do amazingly inspiring work. i never expected anyone to inform me when they pin my cards, and i don't pin my own work either. well, unless Cath has pinned it. =) i also spend too much time on pinterest just looking at inspirations and fun things. so NO! don't stop blogging! =)

Honestly? I think Pinterest is a waste of time! I pin myself as a way of getting known & hopefully bringing more visitors to my blog. I like having a Pinterest Gallery as I can find everything easily there & I like to "look" active there but truth is I hardly visited and haven't for months. Nope it's impersonal - give me bloggy friends any day. And disgusting that they nick your stuff and can't be bothered to say hello...

I totally agree with what WillieburgScrapper had to say..
