Hello card

Happy Monday friends! :) I had some fun this weekend playing with Gauche Alchemy's November kit - Nearly Nekkid...it's a really cool kit with neutral colours. :)

I love the textures created on this card with the braille paper, woodgrain punchinella, dress pattern tissue flower [yes I just scrunched up the tissue, put a button on it and called it a bloom! *LOL*] and twine...inspired by Moxie Fab World's textured to perfection challenge. Gotta love a 15 minute card! :)

So I did some pro bono chauffeuring last week [in addition to sharing my bed with the nephews] when my brother was away...lots of pickups and drop-offs at unearthly hours...*LOL* but I did manage to get some sweet pictures of my niece S....wish she had more hair though...*LOL*

I was inspired by the sketch at Get Picky

I can work with pastels! :)

Little sprout

Littlest nephew J loves to be surrounded by his toys when he's watching his fave Thomas the train DVD which he's seen like 50 times [at least *LOL*]...he laughs out loud before the funny parts come on...pretty entertaining to watch actually. *LOL*

This Simple Stories Baby Steps line [that I got as part of my October DT kit from Your Scrapbook Stash] was surprisingly easy to use. I tend to shy away from pastels because I love to use strong colours in my creations. Guess what? I actually made 5 layouts, 1 card and 1 altered item on Sunday afternoon. Pretty productive to be done with DT assignments before the end of the month...yay, go me! *LOL*

I was inspired by the sketch at Sketchy Thursdays.

Supplies: Simple Stories Baby Steps patterned paper and stickers, Tim Holtz mask, Maya mists, ribbon, buttons, brown pen.

P/s: I would really love for you to play along with my guest Erin's faux letterpress challenge. It ends on Friday! :)

Vintage layers with Debbie Burns! :)

My guest today is the lovely Debbie Burns of Love Life's Little Pleasures. Debbie has a beautiful layered style with great attention given to little details. She does amazing fussy cutting and I love how she fuses that with her love of vintage photos. Today she shares a vintage layout with lots of fussy cutting. She is also hosting a challenge with a fabulous prize package for one winner! :)

Let's have a look at her beautiful gallery, shall we?

Hi everyone, I’m Debbie Burns.  I was beyond thrilled when Yvonne asked me to be a guest blogger for her ever so creative blog!

I live in Maryland, a stones throw away from our Nation’s Capital.   I have two grown kids, both still living at home and one precious dog, Zoey.  I love to scrapbook and if I’m not in my scrap room you can find me outside
tending to my flowers!

I adore working with vintage photos and over the last couple of years I received an assortment of them from both my mom’s and dad’s side of the family.  They have sort of taken priority over my regular photos.  I had a lot of fun working on this layout which holds a precious picture of my mom and her little brother.

One of my favorite manufacturers to work with when it comes to vintage photos is Webster’s Pages.  I save every scrap and love to fussy cut the intricate designs and layer them on my layouts.

This is my challenge to you  . . . Make a layout or card using a vintage photo. I would love for you to use a photo of a family member, but if that is not possible you can incorporate any kind of vintage clipart on your project.

Link it up here on Yvonne’s blog and one lucky person will win a little package full of vintage goodies, including a booklet of embossed frames by K and Company.  I love to use these frames on my vintage layouts.

Wow! Isn't that a lovely RAK? Are you ready to play along? Please link your newly created projects via Inlinkz (located at the end of the post) by Friday November 4, 11.59pm (GMT+8)

As always, please leave a little love for my guest Debbie.

Error 99

Happy birthday

I'm experiencing a little separation anxiety today. My "baby" has to be "hospitalized" for the next 7 days. We have not spent a day apart since 2007. *LOL* The dreaded Error 99. [Be gentle with him, good folks at Canon!]

Which resulted in nephew #2 having just this ONE not-so-perfect picture to commemorate his 5th birthday...:( Of course I could just gone to get another camera but we all really wanted to just eat the cake....*LOL*

I was inspired by the challenge at  Scrap-It-Lah this month to use old book paper, fussy cutting and handstitching.

Supplies: Simple Stories patterned papers and stickers, old book paper, gesso, distress ink, punchinella as a mask, cardboard, white pen, stickles, buttons, ribbon, thread.

P/s: Have an amazing weekend friends! :)

To pee or not to pee. That is the question. :)

S can sit up

To pee or not to pee. That is the question. I would say, "Please don't! "...*LOL* My brother's in the UK for work so my nephews have been sleeping with me. This morning, we woke up to a little mishap. Let's just say I'm glad I have a mattress protector...*LOL*

Somehow the yellow in my layout prompted all the pee talk...*LOL* My layout today features my niece sitting up and playing with her toys. I was inspired by The Studio Challenge (use grey, pink and yellow), Scrapbookers Anonymous (use diecuts) and Get Picky ("celebrate").

Supplies: Patterned paper: Studio Calico and American Crafts, Stickers: Studio Calico and SRM stickers, thickers and rub-on: American Crafts, Gauche Alchemy Pink Parts and Banana Hammock Yellow Mixed Media Color Kits, black pen, Spellbinders label die.

*Edited* This layout was a fave at Scrapbookers' Anonymous.
