A trio of clean and simple Christmas cards for SRM Stickers

SRM-stickers-and-Doodlebug-Papers-X'mas-cards

So I was told that I am wayyyyyyy behind in my Christmas cardmaking since I have only made 4 so far. For the year. *winks at Lizzy Hill!*

Here are the 3 clean and simple ones I made for SRM Stickers. Quick to make and postage friendly.

P/s:  I don't mass produce my cards. Not even the CAS ones...I only make one-of-a-kind couture cards...*LOL*

The one about the "I love Bali" bag...

Bag-girl

So my niece S discovered my "I love Bali" bag and was super happy! She couldn't wait to pose with it...*LOL*

Ahhh...kids have that twinkle in their eyes when they get excited right? :)

Totally crazy about the Blue Fern Studios chipboard that I used as a mask for the background. I'm using it to test how much mist/paint I can get on it before I actually use it as a chipboard! *winks*

Inspired by the sketch at Scrap Friends and the mood board at Scrap Around The World. I went with the bold colours and the birds...can you spot my little birdies?

Fall canvas using a Gelli Plate and Speedball Paints

Fall canvas

So I scored a Gelli Arts Gelli Plate and some awesome Speedball paints when I was invited to be a guest this month at Berry71Bleu, sister site to Zeus and Zoe. This month's theme is fall.

I love how I got my background design on the canvas panel in just one print. And then I went crazy with chipboard, mesh tape, some mediums and lots of embellishments! *winks*

For those of you who are curious about what a Gelli Plate is and does...
1. It is a tool made from gelatin that lets you make monoprints.
2. It's soft and flexible and you spread paint over it with a brayer.
3. The fun part is when you layer stencils over it and create unique designs that you can "print" on a variety of surfaces - paper, fabric, canvas etc.
4. You can also use your stamps on it so the possibilities for unique designs are endless.

Check out this video by Melissa for Donna Downey where she shares gelli plate printing on washi tapes and glassine bags. [Please click the link to get to the original post if the video doesn't play for you.]

The quick party card!

It's-party-time-card

I LOVE a quick no-fuss flat card....

When in need of a quick card fix, I turn to my trusty supply of "residual mists on watercolour paper", throw in some cute elements like these October Afternoon fellas, a random found feather, SRM sticker and a few sequins.

10 more tag ideas!

You know how I love making tags...*winks* Back in April, I shared 6 tag ideas. Here are 10 more! :)

1. Try something red, white and sparkly.

Tone down the red by mixing in some white and glitter.

2. Draw inspiration from a bold patterned paper.

Add a paper bloom, an embroidered blooms and lots of vintage buttons.

3. Go monochromatic with a soft blue.

A little distressing at the edges with faint stamping on the background. Throw in some pretty lace, pearls, blooms and bling and you're all done.

4. Go classy with a black and gold combo.

Black lace, gold mica flakes and white pearls. Classic elegance.

5. Try a little artsy meets cutie.

A little humour can be fun.  :)

6. Use a fabric button as your inspiration.

I love the sweet fabric button so I added little bits of lace and colorants to match the hues on the button.

7. Try a little drama with an unusual colour combo.

Mix things up with scraps from your "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash...remnant lace, resin bloom and leather strip.

8. Make your handmade embellishment the focal point.

Add some texture with lace, bling, sequins and beads.

9. Mediums and lace are a winning team.

Create bold textures with mediums and lace. Add a little extra sparkle with mica flakes.

10. Give gold and red a try.

Play with different tones of gold and textures of different sizes to create interest.

There you have it. 10 tag ideas! Do you have a fave?

Meet the master of disguise...*winks*

Master-of-digsuise

Let me introduce you to the master of disguise and princess of dress-up.....[drumroll], my niece, Sophie! :)

Despite having 3 brothers, she just loves all things girly and pretty!

She cracks me up with her fun expressions! *LOL*

It's been fun watching her journey of growth...

The story about the day the store ran out of canvas....

An-art-journey-canvas-panel

So last week, I went to my craft supplies store to replenish my canvas supply and nearly suffered a heart attack when the shelves were empty! And that the next shipment is in mid-November!

"Can this one-canvas-a-week girl survive such dire circumstances?" [Dramatic music plays in the background!

"Especially since she just scored these beauties from her LSS Made With Love. And really needed to play?" *winks*

Hehe...fortunately, I found some canvas panels in my stash! [Disaster averted! Yay!

Which meant lots of fun with my new distress paints and glitter! :)

I am a little sad about using the last feather in my stash though. Guess I need to go feather shopping! *LOL*

Yum....Gelli Plate print on a mixed media layout

Yum-mixed-media-layout

Hello friends! Just wanted to share my latest mixed media layout for Zeus and Zoe.

The background design was created with some Crafter's Workshop masks and paint on a Gelli Plate printed on watercolour paper. LOVE the print! Yum indeed! *winks*

Went a little crazy with the Golden gold mica flakes on the fish charms...they look sad because their "scales" are sooooooo heavy! *LOL*

Pie plate + old book paper + cute photo = wall art

Upcycled pie plate with old book paper

So at LESSology this month, we want you to raid your kitchens! *winks* I went with a pie plate!

The background was created using torn old book paper [leftover from creating "windows" in my altered book projects] and Faber Castell gelatos.
