I am insanely jealous of photogenic people.

Hats make me happy

I am insanely jealous of photogenic people. Insanely jealous. Seriously. Those who can strike a pose and look so effortlessly chic. Blow kisses at the camera and look super sexy. Believe me, I've tried. And just end up looking like I've tried...maybe a little too hard? *LOL*

Photobucket

Just wanted to play along with Scrapbookers Anonymous "H" challenge - I went with hats! :)

Supplies: Echo Park Papers and stickers, Ranger Distress Ink, brown pen, trim.

P/s: Come play along with my guest Emily's multi-loop bow challenge...it ends on Friday!

I went for a 8.5 x 11 layout...and ended with a two-pager!

I love Sydney

So I decided to try a 8.5 x 11 layout since I discovered a pack of A4 page protectors in my stash. But had to make it a 2-pager because I didn't have enough space for the layout I envisioned...*LOL*

I had a lot of fun using my paper scraps from My Mind's Eye and lots of stickers! :)

Some stamping and a cover-up [I blotched the stamping...so I covered up with some patterned paper and distracted with a fabulous twine action...*Did it work? ].

I scanned a map and printed it out on transparency to pinpoint the exact location the photos were taken.

Check out the cute little girl that was coloured with copics and paper pieced...[aka my guest Annette's colouring and paper piecing challenge].

I was inspired by the sketch at Creative Scrappers and the 'G' challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous [I am the girl in the photos and I also have a paper pieced little girl *grins*].

Supplies: My Mind's Eye patterned papers, Soft Pencil image, American Crafts felt thickers, SRM sticker, Sam and Lucy stickers,7 Gypsies sticker, Imaginisce sticker, Fiskars border punch, Fancy Pants chipboard frame, Maya Road mist, Technique Tuesday and Fontwerks stamps, The twinery twine, printed transparency, brads, black pen, paper doilies, wrinkle ribbon, copics.

P/s: Don't forget to play along with my guest Annette's colouring and paper piecing challenge...it ends on Friday! :)

Chic bones...;)

Chic bones

I did this quick layout last night inspired by several challenges - the Lollipop Ladies and the fruit salad inspiration, the concepts at Mission to Create, the trims, ribbon and lace challenge at Show us your stuff - and the sudden compulsion to do a layout on me...*LOL*

I found some photos on my phone taken back in January when I was stuck in a traffic jam...back when I truly wanted to embark on a Project 52 (take weekly self-portraits)....which hasn't exactly panned out. *LOL* The title for the piece - Chic Bones (totally corny I know) was inspired by the fact that I watching Bones while working on the layout!

I used this plastic mesh frame (from Gauche Alchemy's Wholey Sheet Kit) as a mask and misted with the colours from the patterned paper onto white swiss dots cardstock.

I upcycled one of those twist-and-turn bottle caps - cut petals around, then added some wrinkle ribbon and baker's twine - for a fun handmade embellishment.

Patterned paper: Webster's Pages. Paper doilies. Maya mists. Trims. Ribbon. Lace. Baker's twine. Rub-on.

New hairdo

New hairdo

Whenever I feel "blah" and think that things aren't going my way, I visit my mane man for a haircut! Somehow a new hairdo does the trick...and Lady Luck starts smiling at me again! :)

It's just weird that when you cut off 4 inches in length in hope of a fresh look, suddenly everybody on the street has longer and sexier hair ...:( *LOL*

I tried misting on a dark background (silver on black)... and opted for some drama with a minimal use of colours... aka my guest Michelle's Out of your comfort zone challenge

Patterned papers are from Teresa Collins. Embellishments from Gauche Alchemy. Silver mist. White pen.

I believe in love

Believe in love

I believe in love. Do you?

The challenge over at the Bo Bunny blog is to scrap something about yourself that you love.
Wikipedia defines love as an intense feeling of affection.
I love that I believe in love.
All kinds of love. For people and things. For life. :)

A lot of misting on white cardstock. A mix of black, silver, red and pink. Fussy-cutting. Papers and stickers are from Bo Bunny. Ribbon. Heart charm. White pen. Handstitching.

Do you believe in love?

Love notes

Love notes
Love notes: expressing true love...for food! :)

Okay, this is the best I can do for the camera when I'm hungry....I was waiting for my food to arrive at a Bulgarian restaurant. [I get cranky when I'm hungry.] And there are no photos of the food because I was halfway through the meal before I remembered to take photos...errr...what can I say? I love food??? *LOL*

This layout was inspired by this week's challenge at Scrapping The Music - Suds in the Bucket by Sarah Evans! Love this resist paper from Pink Paislee. All I did was mist the different colours and then added distress inks (in hues similar to the mists) and got this really awesome background (at least to me! ;) And then I just added some embellishments (mostly from the various Gauche Alchemy Mixed Media Color Kits). I had fun with the Pink Paislee Artisan element (swirl)...coloured it with copics in matching hues. My journaling was printed on a transparency and tucked in the frame.

What do you think?

P/s: There's still a little time to play along with my guest Julie Tucker-Wolek's challenge! :)

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition: Synonymous with contrast; two objects/texts that oppose one another.

It's movie tribute week at Scrapping The Music and this week's song is Footloose - a really catchy tune by Kenny Loggins! My layout features me at one of the numerous beaches along the Great Ocean Road...:)

I can't seem to photograph this layout well...there is silver mist on the white cardstock for some nice shimmer that matches that silver strip of wrapping ribbon (guess you have to imagine it..:) Patterned papers are from American Crafts...some handstitching on the blooms and the word "cool"...observations stamp is by 7 Gypsies...felt butterfly (from my friend Mirjam! )...journaling is written on the photo..:) Pin It

Is it here?

Is it here

Is it here? The food that is...I don't know about you but I get cranky when I'm hungry! Here I was, at a Melbourne restaurant, waiting impatiently for dinner to be served...(if you want to have a good laugh, read my journaling...my gluttony thoughts on food...*LOL* :)

Cosmo Cricket goodness! :) Some light misting on the background (light blue). And some stickers! Journaling was printed on transparency...and I did some stamping (Technique Tuesday) along the edges of the photos (check it out K!)...:)

Wild & wonderful & amazing

Wild & wonderful & amazing

My childhood was wild & wonderful & amazing. I think. At least the bits I do remember. And these are possibly my favourite life moments. Eat, sleep, play. Repeat. I remember going to the supermarket with my grandfather in the afternoons to taste food in the aisles. And the pretty dresses my mother sewed me. And the purses I always carried. The bicycle with a basket. My red doll. What are your childhood memories like?

Here I was...in one of those dresses. And the mum-cut mushroom-like hair. (cue: laughter)

Some misting and some handstitching on those beautiful flowers (I love American Crafts)...pink ric rac (too lazy to stitch that portion...lol), journaling card: Studio Calico, felt piece: Tinkering Ink, resin sticker: Stemma, starburst stickers: EK Success and button.

Perfect fit

Perfect fit

There is nothing like the perfect fit. I love to look at pictures of my younger self and check out some of my fashion faux pas and fashion victories...Turns out my mother dressed me well..I was always in pretty dresses with matching purses and shoes, pretty bow in hair and minimal accessories. Things changed when I could dress myself. My teenage years were typical fashion victim years...photos of which my sister suggested I should burn since she believes that we should only preserve the "nice" photos of ourselves...lol..

What's your fashion story?

Some masking/misting (Tim Holtz mask & Maya mist), handstitching, patterned paper from Studio Calico (Homefront collection courtesy of Sherry:), lace, ribbon, crochet flower & flower center bling (courtesy of Juhi:). Journaling printed on transparency. Title prompt was inspired by Category Stories. Pin It

My guilty pleasure

My guilty pleasure

Oh yes. I confess. My guilty pleasure is entertainment news. I love to watch it and read about it. I may not believe everything I hear or read but I'm secretly happy to know that celebrities aren't "perfect". I don't appreciate the methods the paparazzi use to get the so-called scoops but I enjoy seeing pictures of "stars without makeup" or how the celebrities have to starve themselves to look good for a premiere...Poor things...all the money and they can't eat what they want and pay trainers to torture them...haha! (insert evil laugh here)... What's your guilty pleasure?

Just a little misting on cardstock, lace, lovely 7Gypsies velvet flower (thanks Amy!), American Crafts letters, Kaiser Craft paper (babuska doll), We R Memory Keepers gromlet...

Dreaming of a white X'mas

Dreaming of a white X'mas

I'm dreaming of a white X'mas...tough in my part of the world :(.....but the cooler weather at this time of the year means some pretty blooms to admire...:) Are you having a white X'mas?

Papers are from Basic Grey...except for the shaped base mat, KI memories I think...lace, ribbon, pearls, flowers (thanks Juhi!), distress inks, rub-ons, white pen and distress stickles in rock candy (the glass glitter looks like snow!)

Have a great weekend!

Snow

Snow

This was the first time I saw and played with snow...Mount Sorak, Korea..:) This was done for this week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud...which is to include all the colours of the rainbow on your layout. This is sadly, the last challenge over at SOL...Denise and Jessica have decided to close the blog...:( It has been an amazing 6 months on the DT though...I've grown so much creatively through the weekly challenges (kudos to me for not missing a single one!) and even got one of my DT layouts published! So, if you've been meaning to play along, do find time this week!

Rejuvenate

Rejuvenate

Rejuvenate is my take on the challenge at Scrap Mojo...What do you do to destress?...I tried this neat trick I saw by Maggie Holmes on the Studio Calico blog - misting/masking/painting which you can see here. I masked and misted, then added paint around the misted circular journaling block. I love the effect...it is really a quick way to achieve a focal point on the page. Patterned paper is from Scenic Route...some handstitching...

Spring

I live in a place where it's summer all year round (yeah...hot hot hot!)...but my favourite season is spring...I love to travel in spring...it's a little cold but not freezing...I get to see the renewal of greenery...blooming flowers....new beginnings...

This is a picture of me at age 2, enjoying the greenery at a park. I edited the photo and printed it on transparency..scraps from Webster's Pages, some tulle (a current favourite), flowers, stickers, a little handstiching, brown distress inks, glimmer mist/masking..

Japanese

I love Japanese food...do you? There's this restaurant I go to every month for their Kaiseki course...yum...I get a little of everything that is fresh and in season..excellent sashimi..:) .

Love these "old" Sassafras papers...used some felt and ribbon...a little masking for my title work (paint and sponge), handstitching (around the title), faux stitching (white pen), some brads along the ribbon border.
