Learning to love my sewing machine...

The-latest-buzz

It's confession time. Any machine stitching you saw on my projects prior to Christmas 2013 was done by someone else [hangs head in shame]...I went with the "free rider" approach. If my mother or sister was sewing something, I'll just swing by with my layout...."Could you just do a row right over here?"

The reason is pretty simple actually. I HATE threading the machine. It drives me CRAZY! *LOL*

So now I'm learning to love my sewing machine...*winks*

Just a layout about a fun morning walk with the niece and nephew.

The story about my niece in my wig!

You-wore-my-wig

So last week when my cousins came over to celebrate Chinese New Year, we all had a fun time "dressing up" my niece Sophie...in my wig *LOL* and her fairy costume!

There were lots of giggling and photo-taking! :)

I created a "dreamy" backdrop for the photos with a little gesso + lace + star bling [Sophie-approved of course..she even chose the papers!].

A play with modeling paste, glass bead gel and gelatos!

Walk

So nephew #1 makes a rare appearance on the weekly walk...usually reserved for littlest nephew and niece so that auntrazzi can take cute photos...*LOL*

This is real life...

So, trying to take a good photo of the nephews and niece continues to be challenging...*LOL*

At least ONE will not be looking at the camera....

*sigh*
This is real life.

The one about the "I love Bali" bag...

Bag-girl

So my niece S discovered my "I love Bali" bag and was super happy! She couldn't wait to pose with it...*LOL*

Ahhh...kids have that twinkle in their eyes when they get excited right? :)

Totally crazy about the Blue Fern Studios chipboard that I used as a mask for the background. I'm using it to test how much mist/paint I can get on it before I actually use it as a chipboard! *winks*

Inspired by the sketch at Scrap Friends and the mood board at Scrap Around The World. I went with the bold colours and the birds...can you spot my little birdies?

The owl on a paper plate story....and a challenge winner! :)

A-beautiful-mess

So my niece S really enjoys colouring. She was really enamoured with my altered mixed media owl box so I drew an owl on a paper plate for her to colour....*winks*

Check out how happy she was! After that, I cut out holes for the eyes and nose...and she played with her paper plate owl mask for the rest of the day! :)

The background was made with strips of scrap paper with text stamping.

Washi tape, chipboard and stickers!

How do you organize your layouts/photos?

Say-cheese-sunshine

Does it seem like I take a lot of pictures of the nephews + niece? Because they only have one "official" photo shoot [5 minutes to take as many photos as I can] each month...unless there's a birthday or some special excursion. I actually have more pics of food...hehe...totally into food porn..*LOL*

This is really to cut down the number of scrapbooks for each of them...the older two scrapbook their individual photos in their art journal books. And the two younger ones will have 12x12 scrapbooks till they are 6. And they also have art journal albums for remnant photos.

The family photos are in 12 x 12 albums...for easy viewing in the family area.

My travel photos are all 8.5 x 11 to save on storage space....even though I prefer 12x12 layouts. What about you? How do you organize your layouts/photos?

Inspired by the sketch at ScrapFriends...and using fabulous chipboard from Blue Fern Studios. :)

The one with the messy background...

Life-layout

One of my fave ways to save time is to work with backgrounds I've previously created with residual mists. I will go "shopping" in my stack of messy backgrounds...like this one. :)

You may have noticed that I don't particularly work with masculine colours for boy layouts or sweet colours for girl layouts. I just go with colours that I like at that moment and just pull a few more colours from the photos to achieve a cohesive feel. [Haven't got arrested by the scrapbook police for using pink on boy layouts yet...*LOL*]

Inspired by the challenge at ScrapFriends and Scrap It with a Song.

P/s: This week I get to reveal my super secret project! *winks*

*Edited* This layout made Top 3 at Scrap it with a song.
