Thursday's quick project

Happy Thursday friends! Just some random stuff from my stash I threw together for this collage card. :)

Guess the bear really likes butterflies? *LOL*

P/s: I have lots of these punched and cut-out butterflies in my stash!:)

Another mish mash card using happy mail bits

Hope this mish mash card using happy mail bits brings a little smile to your face as a cheerful start to the weekend. :)

Yep, I tore up an envelope and built my own collage with a fussy-cut bear and a bird on a mushroom. I did forewarn you that it is a mash mash card. *winks*

Tuesday's quick card using scrap bits

Hello my friends! Just sharing Tuesday's quick card using scrap bits - some cut out from recent happy mail and some packaging bits...you know, the way I love to put random stuff together in a somewhat cohesive manner. *winks*

These days I try to use packaging bits on my projects ASAP (usually in a few weeks) else they have to go to the recycle bin. Which I try to avoid as often as possible. But I have learnt to let go a little more during this pandemic. Because of all the online buying and massive amounts of packaging that they come in (sometimes to the point of being excessive), it is impossible for me to try to hold on to stuff for future projects...without feeling totally overwhelmed.

What about you? Do you have a timeline for when to stop hoarding packaging bits?

Quick card on a Wednesday

I hit my right wrist against the door latch last Friday (yep, right after I made those yummy bao buns) and it's been aching quite a bit because there's a big bruise. Having sprained the same wrist as a teenager and gone through countless acupuncture sessions to strengthen my wrist, I've been taking it easy and just avoiding any repetitive actions....and using my non-dominant hand instead. Which has been working well except for the cutting of meat and veggies part. Because after a year plus of cooking at home, my knife skills with my dominant are still questionable. *LOL*

Anyway, here's a quick card using already-cut elements in my stash. Happy Wednesday friends!:)

This week's quick birthday card

I've been quite enjoying the challenge of pulling random stuff from the scrap pile and trying to put together a somewhat cohesive card. *winks*

I decide on the ONE element from the pile that I want to use. Then pull other elements to somehow coordinate with that element. For this card, it was the fussy-cut postcard patterned paper. It was from a travel-themed paper pack so it had the Statue of Liberty on the left. So I found the cute kid in a frame to cover that up.

I finished with some fussy-cut blooms, pearl strip for texture and a sticker sentiment in bright yellow to tie all the elements together.

What do you think?

This week's quick card using scrap bits

Hello friends! It's time for this week's quick card using scrap bits. :)

I used part of the doiley for Mummy Yam's birthday 2021 layout (shared on Tuesday's post) and had this piece leftover so I used it as the starting point for the card.

The kraft tag and ribbon came with recent skin care I bought....and I found this random piece of patterned paper that had "hello" written on it...made the sentiment for my card.

Added some bling and finished off with a cute fox waxed seal. :)

I think it turned out quite cute. What do you think?

This week's 5 minute card with scrap bits

Well, it's July and about time to start on the Christmas projects! *winks*

Last year I had a theme going because I had a gazillion Santa faces that I could incorporate on ALL my Christmas projects. This year, I'll be attempting to use up my random bits of Christmas stash. *uplifting music plays in the background*

This quick card only has 4 elements - 2 fussy-cut pieces, a wax seal sentiment and a sequin. :)

Happy Thursday friends! :)

The challenging card

Sometimes you just have one of those projects that prove to be quite challenging. For me, it was this card.

The patterned paper I chose for the base was rather busy and I didn't want to cover it up to make it work. So it was one of those card bases that I would fiddle with for a couple of minutes, then just chuck back into the drawer for "another day when inspiration strikes".

Apparently that day was this past Sunday. I added a strip of green chevron patterned paper, then I found a frame for my owl....and things started coming together.

I added a film strip die-cut to mimic the film strip design on the patterned base. And angled a strip of washi tape to create a visual triangle with the owl.

I finished with some bling.

What do you think?

This week's quick cute card

So I've been working my way through my sticker stash and found these ones that I just had to put on a card....here is this week's quick cute card! :)

These were clear stickers so I did have to layer them on white cardstock and then fussy-cut them.

If you were thinking that the girl got a bit fancy with the card base...you would be right. And of course it was to cover up a mistake.*winks* It was one of those days where I had overworked my dominant hand and had trouble holding my precision scissors. The only way I could "save" the crooked cut was to use the curvy blade on my cutter. Then I added a stripey paper to make it look intentional. Did it work? *LOL*

I finished off with sentiment stickers and some bling. :)

Happy weekend friends! :)

This week's quick Christmas card

Hello friends! This week's quick project is a Christmas card made with a pocket letter insert!

The card base is this freebie from Kikki K. It's blue with gold foil.

My friend Lizzy sent me a Christmas pocket letter last year and this was one of the inserts she made.  I added a scallop frame diecut and worked with the gold mat on the card base to create more depth and interest.

I finished with a bracket and sentiment diecut.

I have more Christmas inserts to work through...but I guess this would the colour scheme for this year's Christmas cards. :)

A quick Christmas card

A-quick-Christmas-card1

Hello friends! This year I'm all about super quick Christmas cards that are postal-friendly. Every year my cards go out to the post office on the 4th of December because that's when postage rates for cards are half-priced! *woohoo!*

Enjoy the rest of your week friends! :)

When do you glue everything down?

quick card

So, are you the sort who glues everything down at the very end? Or as you go along?
I would fiddle with a few elements and once I'm happy with the placement, I adhere them to the base. Personally, I find that with the main elements glued down, I finish a card much faster because I have fewer elements to play with [unless I want to rip a hole in the card *LOL*]. Then I would add a little bit of texture and dimension for interest...like the twine and chipboard here.

What about you? When do you glue everything down? At the very end or as you go along?
