This week's blue mixed media birdie
Lots of fun with this one. Took out the Caran dAche Museum pencils. Forgot how pigmented they are. Finished with regular coloured pencils and acrylic paint markers. :)

Another Monday, another mixed media birdie
Decided to play with some neglected art supplies for this mixed media birdie! Yep, took my neglected Caran dAche Neocolors II for a little play time. Love how vibrant they get when they react to water.

Really wanted to play with my neglected art supplies...and also do something fun. So back to the birdie playbook! *winks*
Played with acrylic paints, acrylic markers, water-soluble pencils and coloured pencils. :)

This week's bird drawing from the birdie playbook
Can you believe we are in the second half of the year? Let's get back to the birdie playbook. :)
Did the base sketch and first layer with coloured pencils, intensified the colours with Faber Castle Gelatos and finished with a Posca white acrylic paint pen for highlights.
Still trying to get the bird proportions right...but that will come with practice.:)

Another week, more birdies from the playbook
In case you were wondering, I tore some pages from an old cheap sketchbook and just glued them on my birdie playbook. It's thicker than the notepaper with a little bit of tooth but of course, not the best quality. You can see some peeling from areas where I added too much water. But I love that I "saved" the page with a mix of mediums. I forgot how fun it was to experiment!

Mixed Media Monday - more fun birds from the play book
Who knew birdies were the way to go when it came to getting back to my mixed media supplies? *winks*
Yep. Used my Faber Castell gelatos and Pitt pens. Along with Holbein coloured pencils and Posca acrylic paint pens.

This birdie was done with coloured pencils and watercolours.:)

Thursday's desk - this week's mixed media bird
Had fun with this mixed media bird. :) I started by sketching the bird with coloured pencils, went in with watercolours and then finished the details with coloured pencils. I quite like the looseness with the watercolours and the depth created with the coloured pencils. What do you think?
Thursday's mixed media bird in a new sketchbook
So I started on a new sketchbook...and here is my first page - a mixed media bird done with watercolours and coloured pencils.
Not quite sure about this mixed media paper because it doesn't take a lot of water and peels...and I had to "save" the bird with coloured pencils. But I'm going to continue to work in it with different mediums and see how it turns out. :)

Happy Monday friends! Since you know I love birdies but always "struggle" to draw/paint them in the right proportions (read: my birds are always a tad chubby...*winks*), I've decided that I shall devote some time in the second half of 2023 to get a little better at birds *uplifting music plays in the background*.

Mixed Media Monday - how about a bird painting?
Happy happy Monday friends! How about a bird painting for Mixed Media Monday? *winks*
Well, you know that in the past, my birds tend to be on the fuller side so I really tried my best to paint a moderately fluffy bird this time (after all birds tend to come in all shapes and sizes..;).
I did start with a rough pencil sketch to help me along (a guideline so I don't go rogue...*LOL*), went in with watercolours, then finished off with coloured pencils, acrylic paint markers (white & black) and a white gel pen.

My attempt at a quirky bird *LOL*
No my friends, your eyes are NOT playing tricks on you. Your gal here has attempted a quirky bird in here art journal, totally inspired by @willowing. *winks*
I know that it's so different from my usual style. The quirky bird is so 2-dmensional and anatomically inaccurate. I did try to give her a little more dimension though some shading. Can you tell? *winks*
I started with a rough pencil sketch, went in with watercolours for a base coat of colours, then went in with acrylic inks for more intensity inn the colours. I finished with paint markers and colours pencils.
