Still trying to get the hang of working on toned tan paper for my eye drawings...
I do enjoy the depth I can achieve with a few more layers. :)

Can you believe that we are almost 3 weeks into 2025? And I have spent 11 days of it out of the country on 2 separate trips. And now have slightly over a week to prep for CNY 2025.
The upside is that I got a little "me" time in and did a few eye drawings (yay..go me!).
Happy week ahead friends!
Yep. This is all I have drawn this week. Time has been scarce. But I really like it. The fluorescent pencils are a real game changer. Can you see the "glow"? So much fun! :)
P/s: I have been dabbling with some mixed media...more to share in a bit!
Did I mention that I started my daily eye sketches 2 weeks ago? Well, that was a false alarm. *LOL* I think I did 3 and stopped. Just stupid to add something to my plate that was already overflowing with life plus CNY prep. But here we are, trying again today. :)
Happy week ahead friends!
So this gal has dropped the ball on the daily eye sketch in her bid to finish up some stuff before the end of 2022...*excuses* But she started again today. And here is her eye drawing on a Tuesday...*high fives all around*
Hope you are doing better in your "need-to-finish-by-2022" list than me. *winks*
So this eye drawing in my daily sketchbook caused me grief today when I was adding highlights as a finishing touch and tore a hole. Can you spot it? *winks*
Here's a clue.... and are you ready to see the mess I had to fix? Brace yourself. *LOL*
Happy weekend friends!:)
Happy Tuesday friends! I'm really enjoying the new colours I've added to my Holbein Artist Colored Pencils. It's been fun layering the new colours with my existing colours to get even more variety of colours.
I'm so glad that my local art supply store decided to bring them in. They are my fave coloured pencils...I had to stop using them for a while because they were expensive to replace out of Japan (I bought mine in Japan) but now I can buy individual colours and "complete" my collection. *winks* They are actually cheaper than Prismacolors here *happy dance*.
P/s: I have ALL the colours for Faber Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils...so it would be nice to have ALL the colours for the Holbein too, right? *LOL*
Last week I stopped by the art supply store to replenish my black Caran d'Ache Luminance pencil and my fave Posca white paint markers (I ran out 2 weeks ago and have just been using correction fluid for convenience>...*winks*). Of course, the markers were lonely so I also got some new coloured pencils to add to my Holbein collection, And also a Holbein blending pen for coloured pencils. :)
First thing I did was to play with all my new colours! I picked up pastels and grays (both cool and warm grays).
I love the new colours I picked up...giving me more options for skin stones and iris colours. :)
Happy week ahead friends!
Happy Monday friends! Just sharing a mixed media eye from my sketchbook today. :)
Enjoy your week ahead!
Happy Tuesday friends! Still working on the daily eye drawings....trying to add more lines and details. Have yet to tackle deep wrinkles (for an older person) because those are quite challenging and require many layers which this cheap sketchbook with really thin paper can't handle.
But I'm 1/3 into my sketchbook and I'm excited to have a complete sketchbook (albeit a small one) of eye sketches!:)
So I struggled a lot with this eye drawing. First of all, I went a little crazy over the colours in the iris. And then I added a teardrop...and it was looking all crazy. But I managed to salvage it and it looks maybe okay? *LOL*
Yesterday, I had 2 hours to kill before a dinner appointment so I popped into a Starbucks, ordered a camomile tea and zoned out for a bit in my coloured pencil world. *winks*
This was 2 hours into the drawing...
And I finished it today. :)
Just sharing an eye sketch I'm currently working on....the eyebrow is proving to be quite challenging for me. :)
Well, it's been a while since I last drew or painted anything....because I've been momentarily distracted by my "use up the Santa" projects. *winks*
As those projects are drawing to a close *triumphant music plays in the background*, I've decided to ease myself back into drawing with my fave subject of course - the eye. And of course it has to be a colourful eye because we all need a little colour in our lives, right?
Happy Thursday friends!
