The outdoor girl

Outdoor-girl

My niece Sophie is always happy when she's outdoors. Her face lights up the moment you suggest a walk. :)

Here is the outdoor girl, posing for photos before we head out for a walk. :)

Never a dull moment when these two are around...*winks*

Never-a-dull-moment

You are know how entertaining kids can be...there's never a dull moment when littlest nephew J and niece S are around. :) The 4 year old recently discovered the merits of using his baby sister as "leverage" to get his fabulous aunt [aka me *lol*] to comply to his little whims....

"Gu Gu, Sophie wants to [insert things he wants like watch a cartoon, go to the playground etc]....."

It is hard to say "no" when they just look so cute together. He would hold her hand and they would go down the slide together...[All together now, "Awwwww..."] *LOL*

I had fun with my Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces on this layout. They were all coated with a layer of gesso first.....
1. Coloured with Faber Castell gelatos
2. Covered with a thick layer of Liquitex glass bead gel
3. Painted with Daler-Rowney acrylic gold paint

P/s: Happy weekend friends!:) I would love for you to come play along with my guest Ashley's patterned paper challenge and LESSology Challenge #29: Birthday Party :)

Another messy background....and a challenge winner!

Click

So I had a little fun creating this messy background...Prima masks, Golden fiber paste, Neolcolor II crayons. Daler-Rowney liquid acrylics and gesso....

Used my patterned paper scraps and distressed the edges to create textured layers....a really great way to use up those oddly shaped scraps while keeping your page relatively flat.. *winks*

Littlest nephew J.... still cheeky as ever...:)

Thursday

Finally....a decent photo of the nephews! :)

Just-boys

So I totally deserve a pat on the back for finally getting a decent shot of the nephews. With non-constipated smiles! *High fives self*

The key is to do it pre-playground. Like dangling a carrot on a stick...*winks*

And adding a little incentive like allowing them to take some fun shots too!

A formidable force to reckon with.....*winks*

Today

So the niece S turned 2 late last month. And is now a formidable force to reckon with. *LOL* You know how it is at this age.....cute and exasperating at the same time.

I love it when she's independent and eats by herself quietly next to me [yep...she actually has pretty decent motor skills...the contents of her spoon actually make it into her mouth with no spillage! *LOL*].

And hate it when she cries to get her way...what's up with kids doing the "pretend" cry complete with tears? I apply the "distraction" strategy..."Who wants to go for a walk?" and the crying stops instantly. *winks*

Having lots of fun with washi tape and mists. And check out the sequins courtesy of my bloggy pal Alice Wertz...yeah...sensing a new obsession in the making... hahaha...

Wednesday

Did someone say seafood?

Just-say-seafood

Ahhhh...nothing beats the taste of fresh seafood. Especially after a long scenic drive along the coast, smelling the sea all day. :) Definitely an indulgence. Let's just say one should not be taking a cholesterol test after a meal like this. *LOL*

I was inspired by the challenge at Sketchbook 365 and Bird is the Word (the word "winter" is in my journaling).

Supplies: Sassafras patterned paper, Graphic 45 patterned paper, Jenni Bowlin patterned paper and stickers, Crafter's Workshop template, Maya mists, SRM stickers, American Crafts thickers, EAD Designs sticker, 7Gypsies sticker, white pen, black pen, washi tape, brads, ribbon, metal embellishment.

I love bright colours!

Hanging-out-with-you

Ahhhh...I love the Paper Cottage collection from Basic Grey! You know I love it when the patterned paper is like 80% done....it saves a lot of time! A little bright orange paint and a little fussy-cutting plus cute photos of my nephew J and my niece S....and I'm all done!

It did take a while for the paint to dry though ....that's why I like mists so much...they dry almost instantaneously...*LOL* But paint colours are way more intense...you know how I love bright colours!  *winks*

Playing along with the only patterned paper challenge at Frosted Designs and the sketch from sketchbook 365.

Supplies: Basic Grey patterned papers, Cosmo Cricket letter stickers, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, twine, paint, buttons, ribbons, black pen, white pen.

P/s: Come play along with my guest Isha's challenge and LESSology Challenge #16: Bubble boy or girl.  Don't forget about my fabulous giveaway too!

What do you like to reminisce about when looking at scrapbook pages?

Toss

What do you like to reminisce about when looking at scrapbook pages?
For me, I like to laugh at funny moments captured in snapshots that tell a story..... like these pictures of my cousins. The larger picture shows the bride, about to toss her bridal bouquet...you can see her sister in the foreground...No prizes for guessing who caught the bouquet... *winks*

Playing along with the challenges at Scrapbook365 and City Crafter Challenge.

Supplies: Luxe patterned papers, Cuttlebug embossing folder, EK success punches, SRM sticker, trim, brad, black button, butterfly embellishments.
