Tuesday

Tuesday's desk- recent watercolour florals

Yes friends, it's August! Haven't had much time to paint in July. These are the ones I did 2 weeks ago. Really quick abstract watercolour florals.

Hoping to make time to paint in August. :)

Another Friday, another loose watercolour florals

Just a super quick one this Friday. Took 15 minutes. Including drying time. :)

Enjoy your weekend friends!

Friday's Florals - today's practice piece

Happy Friday! Can you believe that it's been a year since I started painting watercolour florals?

I'm trying to get back to my daily practice because as you can clearly see from today's practice piece, I need all the practice I can get. *LOL*

Enjoy your weekend friends!

Friday's Florals - getting back to floral painting

It's been almost a month since I last did a floral painting. A break after #the100dayproject was totally necessary for me to reflect and recharge. So many boo boos in this one but that's the way I roll and learn. :)

Have a great weekend my friends!

Wednesday

Workspace Wednesday -another week of floral paintings to share

82/100

Well my friends, can't believe we are into the official last week of #the100dayproject...it ends on Monday 23 May....and I am almost at the finishing line! (Yay! Go me! High fives all around!)

83/100

Do I paint every day? Nope. I just paint a few base paintings every other day...and then work in the details during the little pockets of time I have during the day.

84/100

It's been fun experimenting....:)

85/100

Not everything turns out pretty....

86/100

But I've been having a blast using my Holbein coloured pencils again. You may recall that I fell hard for the pencils a couple years ago when I bought a set from Japan. But since it was expensive to buy the replacement pencils outside Japan, I stopped using the pencils (so silly, right?). Now that my local art store sells them individually for a reasonable price ($3), I'm back to using them again....and falling back in love again. *romantic music plays in the background*

87/100

I try to change up the styles so that my IG feed doesn't look so boring...

88/100

But I kind of know which style I gravitate towards....

89/100

Do you know which style it is? *winks*

90/100

Let me know what you think of these floral paintings...:)

Thursday

More floral paintings for the week

78/100

It's full steam ahead now as I finish up all my floral works-in-progress for #the100dayproject. They don't have to be perfect, just have to be done. :)

79/100

Apparently ink and wash is the way to go. Comes together really quickly because the details are added with a pen.:)

80/100

Tried my hand at something soft and delicate.*winks*

81/100

When you mess up your watercolour painting, just add pen so it appears deliberate. *LOL*

Tuesday

The experimenting leg of #the100dayproject

74/100

It can be tedious drawing/painting the same subject matter for a few months...unless you challenge yourself to experiment and try new techniques.

75/100

I currently have like 8 pieces that I started but haven't finished because I want to experiment a little more.

76/100

I decided not to introduce more art supplies but to work on using the same art supplies in different ways.

77/100

I think #the100dayproject is a good way to really get better at drawing/painting a certain subject matter. My eye drawings improved tremendously when I did the first #the100dayproject. I hope to be somewhat decent at drawing/painting florals by the end of this exercise. Thanks for being on the journey with me. :)

Friday

Friday's Florals - a few more from #the100dayproject

65/100

So I may have fallen a little behind in posting for #the100dayproject. Still doing them daily but trying to challenge myself to try new techniques because I feel like some of my recent floral pieces are looking too similar.

Since I missed drawing the eye, I decided to combine the eye with florals. On hindsight, I probably should have done it in watercolours and then work on the details with coloured pencils instead of doing everything in coloured pencils and then adding white highlights with a gel pen. This one was super time-consuming.

66/100

For this one I tried my best to do watercolours the conventional way. Adding colours in layers. Working on the details in coloured pencils. And then adding highlights with white gouache.

67/100

Going for the loose and abstract feel...

68/100

And of course, the overfilled vase look. *LOL*

P/s: Looking forward to catching up (aka finishing up the ones I started) this long holiday weekend! 4 blissful days of not having to wake up at the crack of dawn. Have a great weekend friends! :)

Monday

Mixed Media Monday - more fun experimenting

50/100

Now that I'm working on a different substrate (100% cotton), I've been having fun exploring how different mediums work on it. Like this one, I drew 3 of the blooms in coloured pencils and then painted the others in watercolour for a fun mix of texture. :)

51/100

Then I tried the bokeh effect with a mix of watercolours and gouache.

52/100

This one took a long time because I drew and coloured in the blooms with coloured pencils. Super labour-intensive even though I found it very therapeutic. Then I did the background in watercolours and finished off with white and black paint markers. These are the kind of flowers on a patterned paper that I want to fussy-cut. *LOL*

53/100

I find myself gravitating to this style the most. It's abstract and loose. And done in a couple of minutes. Watercolours, gouache and paint markers.

P/s: Still behind in returning blog visits. Must have overworked the right wrist again because it hurts when I engage in any repetitive action. The left hand/arm is bearing most of the load now....which is in line with one of my goals for 2022 - to be more ambidextrous. *winks*
