Thursday

Thursday's desk- behind the scenes

Happy Thursday friends! Today I'm sharing my desk space when I'm actually working on an eye drawing these days. I'll have my travel phone with my photo reference...and my art supplies in a box/container (sort of...to prevent it from rolling off the desk..*LOL*).

And then because I've been filming little snippets of my artwork for IG Reels, I actually bought a phone holder stand for overhead shots. Even though the stand can be extended to sit on the floor, I put it on my portable art supply cart so that I can wheel it out of the way.

Happy September friends! :)

Workspace Wednesday - current faves August 2020

It's been a while since I last shared my current faves. :) First up is my recipe planner. With all the stay-at-home cooking I have been doing, the recipe planner has been filling up really nicely. Every time I add a new recipe page, I flip through the rest of the pages to see how far I've come in my cooking journey and I'm really proud of myself. :)

Workspace Wednesday - current faves August 2020

Of course, you all know that my latest obsession is sourdough. Thank goodness I have a cousin who started the journey much earlier than me and she can understand my obsession with anything sourdough. Earlier this week, I texted her that I needed a bread intervention because my freezer has been filled with my sourdough experiments (The waiting time is so long so I always make 2 loaves - one to eat and the other to freeze), And it's only been 5 weeks since I baked my first 2 loaves of sourdough bread. *LOL*

Yeah, when I am passionate about something, I go all out. Pictured is this week's first go at a sandwich loaf. And you know how I am about NOT wasting anything right? I don't actually have any sourdough discard, I use everything. If I have extra fed starter, I will scour the web to find recipes to use that up. Oh yes, sourdough pancakes are nephew #1's current fave snack.

As for art supplies, I've been really into portrait drawing with my Derwent pastel pencils. I love how blendable they are and how quickly they can be used to achieve a realistic portrait. My goal is to draw my family members and set up a gallery wall in the living room. :)

Speaking of current faves, I must also include art supplies for the face...well more specifically for the eyes..since the whole mask-wearing need is putting more emphasis on the eyes. *winks* These Natasha Denona palettes are my current faves. Never mind that I only wear makeup like 1 day a week or occasionally 2, I always find myself gravitating to these 2 palettes because I'm such a colour junkie.

There you have it...my current faves. What about you?

My creative workspace (October 2018)

So the creative workspace is always a work-in-progress because I try to get as many art supplies in my line of sight so that I will actually use them. *winks*

And of course, my cute stuff needs to be displayed too. :)

Here's my fave little nook...

I had a really old whiteboard/corkboard combo bulletin system that I spruced up by adding a framed wire display to the corkboard portion...and I think it looks way better. :)

And yes, this grown woman has a lot of stuffed toys. All gifts though.

I do have a lot of vertical space so things are building up! *LOL*

I've also started adding real plants to my creative workspace to absorb all the chemicals in the air....

Yes, I've a weakness for pens and markers. This is not my entire collection. Maybe 75%???

And my desk area is always full of stuff...including snacks.

Hope you've enjoyed this tour of my creative workspace. :)

My workspace

So it's been a while since I last shared my workspace...:)

As you can clearly see, the stash has grown quite a bit in the last 2 years. *winks*

Here's a closeup so you don't have to zoom in to check out my art supplies. *LOL*

And yes, my Raskog cart is "overloaded" too! Of course, these are just the stash I use more frequently. The rest are in storage somewhere else in the house. *dramatic music plays in the background*

P/s: Can I see your workspace? Leave a link in the comments and I'll check it out. :)

Storage ideas: How I store my art supplies

One of the best things I've done this year was to take my art supplies out of their original packaging and putting them in clear sight. In clear containers. I love see-through containers because they take up less visual space and feel less "heavy" in a room.

I am a firm believer in storing things the way you use them. Organizing them in a practical way that allows you easy access to your supplies trumps making them look neat and tidy but totally inaccessible. So get your art supplies out of packaging!

I recently bought these Sparco Storage Organizers from Amazon for my pens and markers. They are 6x6x6 and can be used facing up or on its side. The adjustable divider can be removed too. I bought them when they were on sale at US$5.99 which was an awesome deal since they are now double the price.

My fave are these acrylic Muji drawers. I pull the drawers out when I'm using them and it's easy to put my supplies back [in rainbow-colour order of course...:)].  I store my ink pads, crayons, watercoloursand other colorants in these drawers. Here I have my Faber Castell gelatos.

They are also great for my Twinkling H20s. :)

My MT washi tapes sit in another type of acrylic drawers from Muji. I can fit about about 10 regular size tape rolls in each drawer. I love that I can just pull out each drawer and see all the designs at once.

I also use the 2-drawer Sparco Storage Organizer for supplies that don't fit into my Muji drawers. Like my Ranger Stickles. It's a little more messy and requires a little rummaging but at least they are all located in one place.

My buttons are stored in these stackable containers. They come in a pack of 4. I bought them from Freedom kitchenware section when I was in Australia. In Singapore, you can get them at Howards Storage World but it's twice the price.

My brads, eyelets and photo turns are kept in these small round containers that all fit in a clear acrylic case. They are organized by colours. I got them from my local art supply store Art Friend.

All my paper and fabric blooms are stored in clear tiered containers I got from True Value in the Philippines.

There you have it. How I store some of my art supplies right now. Do you have a thing for clear storage like me? *winks*
