I don't want to miss a thing!

Patterned paper: American Crafts, Brads: American Crafts, Others: Ribbon, charms, transparency, glitter stickers, thread, cardstock, lace.

The song "I don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith is one of my favourites...I used the lyrics as my journaling for this layout featuring my littlest nephew...who's so chubby and smiley and I really don't want to miss a shot of him smiling or laughing...at 5 months, he thinks the camera is a toy so he looks directly at it. I went with a simple layout...nothing fancy...some stitching around the photo, ribbon & lace & brads and a couple of charms. Thought that the pink background would be too girly for a boy layout but I love the colour combination!

Do you like this song? I think it's perfect for babies even though it's supposed to be a love song...I just think it's pretty creepy to wake up and have someone staring at you because he/she doesn't "want to miss a thing" (chorus block)...lol ...humour me and laugh a little will you? Have a great Wednesday!

Cousins at a wedding

Supplies: Patterned paper: Webster's Pages (base), Sassafras (birdcage) & Creative Imaginations (photo mat), Stickers: Toga, Chipboard letters: Heidi Swapp, Paper flowers: Prima, Others: Bling

One of my cousins, M, got married late last month and so I got a chance to catch up with my extended family. These are my girl cousins whom I grew up with but now, we meet only once a year or maybe a few times more if there are weddings (or funerals)....a fact of life...:(Still, it was great to catch up, giggle like kids, get all dolled up & of course, take lots of photos! It would be great to be closer to these gals but we'll always have great memories of childhood. Also, who knows what might happen down the road? I am hopeful.:)

This layout was in part inspired by the challenge at The Story Matters which is to showcase the women in your life and also by the challenge at Butterfly Crafts which is to use your favourite colour (black & white is allowed). Pink is my current favourite colour...:) Interestingly, I never liked the colour as a kid...lol...

Challenge at Butterfly Crafts - book inspiration

Supplies: Patterned paper: Sassafras, Cardstock: DCWV(green), Stickers: American Crafts. Others: Cork paper, felt

The challenge over at Butterfly Crafts is to do a layout inspired by a book. My favourite book as a child was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. There was something decidedly magical about being beautiful and being loved by everyone (except the evil stepmother). Oh well, I'm a dreamer.

Anyway, I decided to use my treasured Sassafras paper (which I had been hoarding for a few months) for this LO. My nephew is at an age where he's fascinated by all living things and generally loves to spend time outdoors so I cut a silhouette from his photo and placed him in the midst of all the action. The animals were cut from the various Sassafras paper (hard, hard work!). The grass was cut from cardstock (Quickutz die). I used cork paper for the trunk of the tree and felt from Queen & Co for the leaves. The entire layout was first done on cardstock, then cut out and adhered onto clear acrylic (not apparent in photo because the LO was scanned).
