Day out - Turkish food for dinner

Last Saturday we finally went to attend a Sephora event followed by some lovely Turkish food for dinner. It's been hard to attend Sephora events of late because we now have another kid in the house. Nephew #3 has moved in to stay with us, less than a year after nephew#1 moved back home (he's now in Melbourne). Nephew #1 stayed with us for 6 years. I'm not one to air out family's dirty laundry...I can only say not all parents are good parents.

Anyway, the folks were excited to have Turkish food for dinner (not currently a cuisine in my cooking repertoire..*winks*). They each chose their own plate while my sister and I shared a mixed grill plate for 2 (pictured) It was pretty good. :)

The one about Ah Seng Durian

So if you didn't already know...the Yams love durian! :)

Our government recently gave all citizens some vouchers to help with the cost of living (and to help local businesses) so we went to Ah Seng Durian for a treat! The box of Blackthorn durian that mum is holding is S$45. It goes by weight and you pay for the thorny shell that is inedible.

Durian season only comes twice a year with the mid-year harvest being the biggest one...so it's really a treat to get to savour the king of fruits. :)

The one about Rose Romance at the Flower Dome

Yep...the Yams went to the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay yet again. *winks*

We got there a day before the Rose Romance exhibit ended...phew! It was super crowded but we managed to get some photos in...:)

A super fast layout using scrap bits and stickers.

Enjoy your weekend!

The Yam folks love pickleball!

Guess who started playing pickleball? *winks*

The Yam folks! :)

Keeping their hearts and brain healthy through pickleball. I paid for the equipment (hence have all photo rights..hehe) while my sister was the official referee aka ball picker. *LOL*

Happily using up my stash....:)

Mum's birthday 2025

We recently celebrated mum's birthday with a day trip to Johor, Malaysia.

It was my sister's first drive in so she was very excited...which meant that we went out very early. *LOL*

We had a dim sum breakfast, did some grocery shopping and then went to another mall for sportswear shopping (the folks have recently started going to the gym so they needed nice workout clothes), had a seafood lunch then a foot massage. After that we bought takeout for dinner to avoid the jam at immigration. And a tiny cake for mum (the bakeries there only sold mini cakes..) which we cut at home.

Just a layout with lots of fun bits. :)

Wednesday

A day out with the folks - May 2025

It's not always easy to bring the old folks out because they tire so easily. But we did try for a couple of hours on May 16.

We left at 10am (after mum took a nap) and headed straight down to the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. They were between exhibits so we did get to see some tulips (previous exhibit) and Lillies (the new one). My faves!:)

Dad really loved the flowers...he took more photos than mum!

We had lunch at Shake Shack (just outside the Flower Dome)...

We stopped by Chinatown for dessert and coffee and a little shopping and were back home by 4pm so that the folks could rest. We made it out for 6 hours *high fives all around*!

Let's go see some cherry blossoms

The Yams recently went to Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome to check out the cherry blossoms.:)

My sister E fractured her wrist last month snowboarding in Japan hence the arm sling.

Just little bits and bobs to "frame" the photos.

The one about the waterfall

There are many waterfalls in Bali and since we booked a driver for the day, we stopped by at one.

Even though we chose a waterfall that needed the least amount of climbing, it was still challenging for the folks because it was rainy season and the ground was really wet and slippery.

We did get some nice shots though. :)

Dinner at Barbaroosa

One of the best things about travel is of course the food.

We ordered 4 mains to share...and it was so good. :)

Yes...still working through my Thickers stash, *winks*

The one about Cretya Ubud

Back to scrapbooking the Bali trip photos....this one is about Cretya Ubud.

My sister really wanted to go. It's basically a man-made day club for tourists with lots of places for photo-taking.

Like this structure that "frames" and creates a lovely photo backdrop.

You can pay to just see the rice-fields and take photos or pay to access the jacuzzi pools too (even more photo-taking). The rice-fields did look lovely but it was super touristy overall.

P/s: Not a great place for the old folks though...lots of climbing up and down the (steep) stairs. Mum pretty much just sat at the cafe the whole time we were there.

Winter at the cinema

I don't do single photo layouts very often but I only have this ONE photo and I really wanted to document this "winter at the cinema" moment. *winks*

I wanted to have a little fun with the world map even though we were right here in Singapore...*LOL* Apparently it was winter at the cinema for the folks. Mum had on a cashmere sweater over her shirt. Dad had on his Columbia wool sweatshirt. They were both wearing scarves and had on hat/cap. For a 2 hour movie at the cinema.

Guess who found her old Thickers stash? Love that mismatched pieces can spell a usable word...that's a win! :)
