Monday

Make Stuff Monday - another cute decorated paper bag

Is it Monday again? Last week went by in such a blur....I got so little done except for the cooking for my family part (you would think I get a free pass since I was ill but no such luck...*sad music plays in the background*).

In all fairness, I wasn't t terribly ill just terribly uncomfortable. I had body aches and a fever that went away in an afternoon. Then I had a few days of digestive issues (which went away once I stopped eating for about 20 hours). Just when I thought the worst was over, I started to have a rash...the virus's last hurrah before ending its cycle. Let's just say I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Since I still had to cook, the flare-up was terrible after lunch and dinner because of the heat from the stove. And of course, sleep at night was disruptive because it feels way more itchy when you have to sleep. (I don't react well to medication so I usually just let a virus runs its natural course.). And did I mention that my period came a few days early too? Let's just pile on the discomfort! *dramatic music plays in the background*

Anyway, I did try to cheer myself up by working on some cute projects. :)

Creating a fun little "scene" on this paper bag. :)

I think this week is going to be a much much better week. *upbeat music plays in the background*

Mixed media floral paintings #1 & #100

Sometimes there's no better way than to show a beginning and end photo to show progress of your skill level. Like these two mixed media florals paintings that were done for this year's #the100dayproject. The one on the left is 1/100. The one on the right is 100/100.

Similar composition - 7 blooms in a glass jar....but such different painting styles right? What do you think?

Workspace Wednesday - happy birthday Papa Yam!

Hello friends...today is Papa Yam's birthday! And for the first time since I started baking (2017?), I actually served up a store-bought cake! *dramatic music plays in the background*

Well, each of them had two servings so I guess it was pretty good? Some money out of pocket, lots of time and cleaning up saved. But only because I'm still a little unwell....that's what I'm telling myself...mum's birthday is next month...think I should buy or make her cake? *LOL*

Tuesday's quick decorated notebook

Feeling a little under the weather so here is Tuesday's quick decorated notebook.  A fun mix of patterned papers from different brands but in a similar colour story.

Hope you are having a great week so far.

Make Stuff Monday - floral decorated paper bag

Happy Monday! Today's Make Stuff Monday is inspired by florals! :)

Does it look like I did lots of fussy-cutting? *winks*

Well, I only fussy-cut 3 flowers. The colourful leaves/stems were part of the base patterned paper. And the rest of the flowers are stickers! :)

It's a little more obvious in this photo. :)

The one about the breakfast training

As life resumes some sort of "normalcy" here with most Covid-19 restrictions lifted except for indoor masking, it is inevitable that I will have to start travelling again. And so I have started breakfast training for nephew #1. *dramatic music plays in the background*

The first week was just him watching me demonstrate the dishes, telling him about where he can find the ingredients, the time he needs to cook the dishes and how to further elevate his breakfast options with leftovers in the fridge. And then over the weekend he got to practise by making breakfast for grandma and Aunt E.

So far he's been pretty enthusiastic about making his own brekkie. And making an extra set to bring to school as a snack too. I would say breakfast training has been a success. *LOL*

Workspace Wednesday - new plants for the room!

So today I went plant shopping! :)Yep, I've been adding plants to "clean" the air in the room so that I can sleep better at night - one of my goals for 2022.

I'm usually in bed by 9.30pm and I fall asleep quickly (usually out of sheer physical exhaustion...*winks*) but sometimes I wake up at 4 or 5am and find it difficult to get back to sleep again...usually thinking about my to-do-list for the day (let's get real...there's always more to add to the list, right?).

I think I might need to consider sleeping earlier and starting my day earlier instead.

What about you? What time do you start and end your day?

Did a little fussy-cutting and was quite pleased with the outcome until I discovered that I dirtied the back cover....*insert dramatic sad music*

Cute birds to the rescue...disaster averted! *LOL*

Thursday's quick decorated paper bag

This week I challenged myself to work with a muted colour palette and to exercise restraint with the embellishments.

I started with this sturdy Kraft paper bag with black handles.

I kept things simple with a base patterned paper layer, a Kraft "mat", a fussy-cut patterned paper flower and leaves, a subtle ribbon tab and washi tape.

I finished off with a spritz of gold mist all over the paper bag to tie all the paper elements together. I also switched out the black bag handles for Kraft-coloured ones to fit in with the muted colour palette. :)

Wednesday

Workspace Wednesday- salmon quiche

So I am currently trying out recipes that can be made ahead for busy days...or when I'm back to my regular travelling.

Today I tried out a salmon quiche and it was well-received by the family. It was not hard to make but I probably need to make my dough earlier next time. I made my dough at 4pm today and served the quiche at 6.45pm (which is waaaaaayyyyyy past the usual dinner time of 6pm and people were "dying" already....*LOL*) because the dough needed to rest for an hour before rolling and another 15 minutes after.

Do you have any ideas of food to prep in advance for quick execution on busy days?
