Googly eyes to the rescue!

Halloween-fun-card

I used to be a perfectionist. Until I started crafting. Then I became a "cover-up" agent....*LOL*

Googly eyes to the rescue! *winks* Happy Halloween friends!
Playing along with the kraft challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.

Supplies: Some Odd Girl image, Ranger stickles, Copics, Martha Stewart edge punch, googly eyes.

P/s: A shoutout to my bloggy pal Rose Miller...Two weeks ago, I casually commented that she should stop using this spider web punch because she was tempting me to get the punch. Guess what came in the mail last week? Yep, she sent me the punch set! Thank you so much Rose! You are so sweet! :)

The horse brand story...

Not-all-those-who-wander-are-lost

The other day, we took a different route to the playground and walked past a house with a snazzy yellow sports car parked in front of it.

Nephew #2 pointed to it excitedly and shouted to me,"It's the same car as yours Aunt Y! The horse brand!"
Nephew #1 corrected him immediately, "That's a Ferrari silly! Not horse brand!"

Guess only Nephew #1 was paying attention when I talked about my Ferrari. The toy one I have in my bedroom. *LOL*

[This card which features the use of woodgrain was first shared in the Three Cool Chicks' Let's Get Trendy Now! workshop held in May.]

Supplies: My Mind's Eye and Bazzill patterned papers, Sizzix embossing folder, Ranger distress inks, glossy accents and crackle paint, EK Success punch, burlap, brad.

You hold the key.

You-hold-the-key

Today's post is dedicated to all my bloggy pals who have offered their couches and guest rooms to me if I ever visited them. Special thanks to those willing to make their kids sleep on the couch/floor so that I can get the bed. *LOL* I should start planning my itinerary for my round-the-world trip. You hold the key...[err...I would need you to unlock the door to let me in...hehe] *winks*

Single photo or multi-photo layouts?

Beautiful-love

This year, I find myself doing fewer single photo layouts and incorporating more photos on each layout instead. My rationale is simple...

1. Multi-photos help to tell a story better.
2. I do fewer layouts per event.
3. It takes up less space.

[This layout which features snippets from my cousin's wedding, was first shared in the Three Cool Chicks' Let's Get Trendy Now! workshop held in May. It highlights the use of baker's twine.]

Nobody talks about this...but while I want to preserve family memories, I am also mindful not to accumulate too much for future generations. You know the adage...one man's treasure is another man's junk? *LOL*

What about you? What kind of layouts do you gravitate towards - single photo or multi-photo layouts?

Supplies: GCD Studio patterned papers, The Twinery twine, American Crafts thickers, SRM sticker, Ranger crackle paint in rock candy, corrugated cardboard, tulle, button.

Did someone say seafood?

Just-say-seafood

Ahhhh...nothing beats the taste of fresh seafood. Especially after a long scenic drive along the coast, smelling the sea all day. :) Definitely an indulgence. Let's just say one should not be taking a cholesterol test after a meal like this. *LOL*

I was inspired by the challenge at Sketchbook 365 and Bird is the Word (the word "winter" is in my journaling).

Supplies: Sassafras patterned paper, Graphic 45 patterned paper, Jenni Bowlin patterned paper and stickers, Crafter's Workshop template, Maya mists, SRM stickers, American Crafts thickers, EAD Designs sticker, 7Gypsies sticker, white pen, black pen, washi tape, brads, ribbon, metal embellishment.

Cold begone!

Boo

Ahhh...if I were a witch, I would cast a "Cold Begone" spell! *LOL* Really though, I'm into Day Four of The Nasty Cold epidemic which is seeing little signs of reprieve. :( Will you come help me chase this evil cold away? *winks*

Just wanted to share my card for the latest challenge at Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps. A little paper piecing and colouring with copics. Love that I found this cool journaling block that is perfect to "frame" my cute little witch.

Supplies: Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps image, Graphic 45 patterned paper (paper piecing), Jillibean Soup patterned paper (frame), Copics, SRM sticker.

I have a serious addiction.

S-on-4x4-canvas

Yes friends. I have a serious addiction to mixed media canvasses. I have 3 in-progress and I completed 2 over the weekend. And everyday I'm wishing my craft supply store would have a sale on canvasses so I can stock up! *LOL*

This one's the last of the 4x4 canvasses I did featuring my 3 nephews and 1 niece. Now, it's sitting pretty on a wall in the living room along with the 3 I did previously.

Supplies: October Afternoon patterned papers, Golden fiber paste, Daler Rowney acrylic paints, Prima canvas letter, ribbon, clay embellishments [from my friend Mirjam], lace.

This week, I went to collect my new passport. And now I embark on a 5 year journey to get as many pages filled as possible. With many interesting stories to tell. :) So, my bloggy pals, if I come visit you in your country, will I at least get to sleep on your couch? *winks*

The bliss of having a pram...

New-friends

So I met up with bloggy pal Lavina and her lovely daughter Saachi when I was in Melbourne. And after 3 nephews and 1 niece,I finally experienced the bliss of a pram. Yes, I have a super mean brother who never provided me with a pram. *winks* I had to carry all of his children until they could walk [I have decent biceps to prove it...haha!] Of course little Saachi wanted to be carried so the pram conveniently became the "trolley" to haul our craft supplies..*LOL*

No prizes for guessing why this is a composite layout. *winks* Lavina and I had so much to talk about, we forgot to take a photo together. So she sent me a photo of her and her daughter, and I pulled out whatever pictures I had of the malls to put the story together. :)

Supplies: Bo Bunny patterned papers, Crafter's Workshop template, American Crafts thickers and stickers, Jenni Bowlin stickers and pearls, MT tape, Golden fiber paste, Maya Road stamp, brads, paper clip, white pen, brown pen, twine, tag, washer, photo turn.

Playing along with the sketch challenge at Artful Delight.

Do I need more washi?

Hello-love-card

So I recently bought some washi tape, bringing my collection to a grand total of 9! *LOL* Don't be mistaken, I love washi tape. I just use it soooooooo sparingly, it seems wrong to have copious amounts sitting there, looking pretty and collecting dust. *winks*
My washi tape collection! :)

I have yet to finish a single roll of washi tape. Have you?

A CAS card. A little scoring at the edge. Washi tape. Sticker sentiment. And a heart bling. :)

The "yes" story.

Hello-there-Sophie

So my niece's first and only word is "yes". Yeah, you have to ask a lot of questions to know what she wants. *LOL* The other day, when we were out for a walk, she stopped walking and started some incomprehensible baby talk...which was very puzzling.....till I looked down and saw that her shoe had come off her foot. "Oh, you want me to put your shoe back on?" And she replied, "Yes.".

This is currently her fave pose for the camera...straight at me with a little pouty smile. :)

Enjoying a little mixed media on watercolour paper. :)

Supplies: American Crafts patterned papers, Crafter's Workshop template, Golden fiber paste, Maya mists, Jenni Bowlin stickers and pearls, 7 Gypsies stickers, black pen, ribbon, brads, wrapping tissue.

I was inspired by the sketch at Scrapfriends.

A mixed media canvas....and a challenge winner!

Canvas-for-Cindy

Did I let a whole week go by without sharing a canvas? *winks*
Here's one I did for Cindy [who won my personalized canvas giveaway].
Lots of paint, Golden mediums and rub-ons!
I won't lie. This one took a really long time. Seriously. I asked Cindy what her fave colour was and she gave me a list of colours she didn't like...so I had to improvise with my limited paint colours and mists. Let's just say gesso came to the rescue many many times. *LOL*

Supplies: 6x6 canvas, Golden fiber paste, coarse molding paste, crackle paste, fine purmice paste, Daley-Rowney acrylic colours and gesso, Maya mists, Graphic 45 patterned paper - butterfly, Ranger stickles in rock candy, Prima canvas letters, Basic Grey rub-ons, Craft Affair rub-ons, Crafter's Workshop stencils, trim.

The magic of the Happy Birthday song...

6

Ever notice how a child's face just lights up when you sing Happy Birthday to them?

As you all know, nephew #2 has been a challenge for me to photograph because he

1. Likes to look away from the camera.
2. Tends to smile awkwardly.

But he started smiling so sweetly when we sang Happy Birthday to him. Why it's the magic of the Happy Birthday song! *LOL* Yes, he's still not very good at posing for the camera but you got to give him credit for trying. Making a kid look forward to eating something sweet after hard work [posing for photos] tends to do the trick! *winks*

Supplies: American Crafts patterned papers and thickers, Far Flung Craft patterned paper, Ranger distress ink, Crafter's Workshop template, Maya mists,  7 Gypsies sticker and photo turn, brads, buttons, black pen, felt, ribbon, lace.

Playing along with the challenge at Once Upon a Sketch.
