Another cute card with scrap bits

How about another cute card with scrap bits? *winks*

Yep...having so much fun with these fussy-cut animals from packaging.

And I just might have made a stack of cards with them. *LOL*

Hope you are having a great week so far friends! :)

An altered notebook using bits from my stash

So I got a whole stack of these A6 notebooks from the bestie. They only have the company's brand name on the covers and the insides are just lined notepaper.

Which means the perfect canvass for me to "prettify" using bits from my stash. *winks*

I'm still working on pink and green colour combo for this particular happy mail that I want to send out but haven't quite finished yet....almost there but not quite....*LOL*

Well, one notebook down...several more decorated ones coming your way! :)

This week's cute card with scrap bits

Hmmm...can you tell that I'm having a lot of fun with these fussy cut animals from happy mail packaging?

Never mind that these two came from the folded part of the package (can you see the crease on the bunny)...you know I don't like to waste stuff. *winks*

Just adding to my no-sentiment card pile. :)

Mixed Media Monday - tulips in a jar painting

In today's Mixed Media Monday - I'm sharing a tulips in a jar painting that I did just today. It started off as a morning practice piece. Then I had some pockets of time in the afternoon and just "finished" it while listening to a science podcast.

I'm really enjoying my new desk by the window for painting in natural light. It's so lovely to not have to clear your desk to do your other work. *winks*

Hope you are doing well in your neck of the woods. Tighter restrictions are back in place here with social gathering sizes reduced from 5 to 2. The COVID fatigue is real. I've been keeping my home-cooked meals a lot more simple. And devoting every extra bit of time I have to self-improvement. If I'm going to be stuck at home, I'm going to maximise that time and work on being a better version of myself.

Meet my new desk by the window

Meet my new desk by the window! Yep, last week I was working on a makeshift plastic chest of drawers on a chair by the window and now I have a real working space by the window.

It took a while to get here though. I bought a used desk with removable legs but one of the legs was damaged so the desk was really wobbly. I tried to fix it with all kinds of glue. Even the bestie tried. But after 2 weeks, we decided to give up. So much time and effort wasted.

The seller did a 50% refund so the table top cost S$7.50. Since the desk size  work for my constrained area, I decided to mount it on a used bar stool that I paid S$10 for last year. I used 3M mounting tape which is pretty strong but removable. Plus the height of the bar stool can be adjusted too.  Not too bad for a S$17.50 "investment". *LOL*

It would have been so much easier to buy something new but your gal is trying to be eco-friendly. *winks(

Yesterday I did a test-drive on my new desk...and started on a baby portrait. :)

Made a little more progress this morning....LOVE the natural bright light I get in the morning at my new desk by the window. :)

Happy weekend friends! :)

How many bits of packaging can you fit on a card?

So the question is: How many bits of packaging can you fit on a card?

Can you spot the bits? *winks*

Let's break it down:

1. We have the green patterned mat which was from a Fresh packaging box.

2. Next we have the fussy cut blooms from a paper bag (I used them on the lantern and layout too).

3. Then we have the "free drink" ticket from some happy mail packaging.

4.  Also, the cute fox was cut out of some wrapping paper packaging from happy mail.

5. The graph patterned paper was from happy mail packaging too.

6. The ribbon tab was from a Fresh packaging box.

Did you guess correctly? *LOL*

Workspace Wednesday - morning practice

Trying to get back to my morning practice of just playing with paint for 15 - 20 minutes. Nothing but unadulterated play. And it has been fun! Of course the florals are very abstract and very loose and not very pretty. But I do feel amazing after my morning practice...energized and ready to start my day. :)

What about you? Do you have a morning practice to kickstart your day?

This week's cute card from the scrap pile

I have been enjoying using packaging materials on my cards of late.

This kraft flap came from a box and the rounded edges add to the design element (without me having to do anything to it...gotta love that! ;)

Still working through my SRM stickers...(the owner of the brand has since retired but your gal still has a few years' supply in her stash...even though she was only on the DT for 1 year...). Added some cute puffy stickers (donut and star) that I had been hoarding for years.

Let's not dwell on why the cupcake is so big and the donut is so small....and just assume it's a normal sized cake decorated to be a cupcake! *LOL*

P/s: Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival...so I'll be having some mooncake and admiring my lantern (made from recycled materials only).

Make Stuff Monday - another postal-friendly decorated box

Hello my friends! Happy Monday! In today's Make Stuff Monday, I'm sharing another postal-friendly decorated box. :)

I've been enjoying these Fresh boxes which are very sturdy and I only need to cover up decorate the lid, :)

This project came together really quickly because I knew I wanted to finish up the fussy-cut flowers (also used on a layout and a lantern) from a paper bag.

I went with a really subtle colour palette to match the baby blue box.

These fussy-cut blooms are sooooo pretty?

And your gal actually has another paper bag of the same design...*LOL*

P/s: My lantern was awarded the 4th prize in my neighbourhood's lantern-making competition for the Mid-Autumn Festival! :)

This week's mish mash card from the scrap pile and a life update

Happy Friday friends! Here is this week's mash mash card...some happy mail bits, some scrap bits and lots of fun! :)

So even though we have close to 85% of our 5.7 million population vaccinated (ages 12 and above), we are seeing a rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the community. Today we had about 1000 cases. And the number is expected to be on an upward trend for the next two weeks. Most of the cases are asymptomatic and are showing up because of routine testing for frontline workers in public services. However, we are also seeing cases amongst the elderly who have not been vaccinated. We have lost about 20 of them in the last 6 weeks. :(

Meanwhile your gal here is a tad obsessed with the Spanish series Money Heist on Netflix. She's a little late to the game but is watching 3 episodes per week to play catch-up. *winks* Because she likes to make life a little harder than it is to just read the English sub-titles, she's taking the opportunity to refresh her Spanish too which is why she can only watch 3 episodes per week. *LOL*

Enjoy your weekend friends! :)

Lantern made with recycled materials

Remember the mooncake box I shared last week and said I wanted to turn into a lantern? Well, my neighbourhood is currently having a lantern-making competition using recycled materials. *winks*

So I added bubble wrap for the cut-out windows so that the light can still shine through. And I fussy-cut the paperbag patterns and pasted them all around the lantern.

I used the bag strap to create a "handle" for the lantern....I secured it under a biscuit tin cover that was in the same shade of gold. I finished by adding some USB-powered LED lights in the box so that the lantern can "light" up.

What do you think?

Workspace Wednesday - my makeshift "desk" by the window

I get the best morning light out of this window by my bed and have been looking for a small desk so that I can draw/paint here in the mornings. There's a whole row of built-ins on the right so the desk needs to be tiny one else I can't access the cabinets and drawers. But until then, I'll settle for my makeshift "desk" which is a chest of plastic drawers on top of a chair.

It is surprisingly, the perfect height for a standing desk.

I am trying to get back to a daily morning painting practice.

Hope your week's been great so far! :)
