Day out with mum

Back in late December, I spent a day out with mum...just the two of us...:)

We took a train to a suburban mall (masks were still mandatory on public transport) because that was the day the kitten was hiding in the undercarriage of the car and refused to get out. *LOL*

We went for teaner at Tim Ho Wan (dim sum)...and then we went shopping...

We also stopped by Sephora and the sales rep at Benefit Cosmetics taught my mum how to fill up her brows.

Kind of the usual mist mash of stash and packaging materials. Of late I've been having fun with paper tearing to add texture and interest to my projects...can you tell? *winks*

Hope February has been a great month for you. :) Tomorrow's the start of my fave month of the year -birthday month! Woohoo! *high fives all March babies* :)

Make Stuff Monday - Decorated gift bag and matching box

It's been a while since I did a decorated gift bag and matching box set....:)

I started with this paper bag...

And matching box.

And kept to a simple and flat design (for easy storage) with the option to add or not add a sentiment. *winks*

The base of the box and the interior are black so I added some black paper packaging to "match".

Yep my friends, just a sheet of patterned glitter paper, washi tape, black packaging cardstock and black packaging ribbon and I'm all done!

That penguin washi tape is so cute right? :)

Quick decorated glassine bag project

So I went to the art supply store to replenish and buy some new coloured pencils the other day. They were packaged in this glassine bag...which you know I had to decorate immediately...*winks*

Went in with some packaging, paper scraps, stickers, doily and washi tape.

Fussy-cut glittered paper blooms for the focal point...:)

And here is my quick decorated glassine bag project all done. :)

Enjoy your weekend friends!

Thursday's desk- a week of eye drawings

Have really been enjoying my daily 30 minute eye sketches. Some days are more challenging than others....especially when it's late in the day and I'm trying to complete before I lose natural daylight. But it's been fun to challenge myself to see how much detail I can render in 30 minutes. *high fives all around*

Happy almost Friyay friends! :)

Workspace Wednesday - hanging plants!

Happy Wednesday friends!  Just wanted to share my hanging plants with you!:) (Not quite a jungle yet...but you know how I'm like when I'm obsessed! *winks*)

They now own the window..I do close the day curtain by mid-day because it would get too hot for them. But the main curtain is now purely decorative. I just wear an eye mask at night. *LOL*

Last week I even picked up a long spout watering can to water my babies. Apparently, the soil needs to be moist but the leaves don't like to get water on them.

P/s: Yes, this is just window #1. Would you like to see the plants residing at window #2? *playful music plays in the background*

The one about the kitten

This is the one about how the Yams almost became cat owners. *winks*

Actually, I wasn't sure if I wanted to include this in the family scrapbook because I didn't actually take any nice pics....

So this little kitten was hiding under our car (parked in the car porch)...and meowing away.

I went to get some milk to "lure" it out and managed to get this blurry shot.

I shared it to the family chat group and my brother came over with a pet cage and cat food in case the kitten was lactose-intolerant. Does it not look like obvious entrapment? Nope, the kitten did not fall for it. We had to put the food dish under the car for it to eat. *LOL*

The next morning, the kitten was still hiding in a cosy compartment of the undercarriage. And refused to budge from its hiding place even when the engine started and we tried to move the car.

We "borrowed" the neighbours' dogs to "scare" the kitten out of its hiding place. But it was unfazed. In fact, the dogs were afraid with all the meowing. Yep. They were scaredy dogs. It was quite a hilarious scene. Really wish I had pics..but we were trying to save the kitten and actually use the car.

It finally ran away when my niece tried to grab it after luring it out of its hiding place with food.

And that was the story of how the Yams almost became cat owners. (We were prepared to keep the kitten if it came out and stayed with us since animal control would just put it down.)

Thursday's desk - the week in eye sketches

Well friends, I'm pleased to inform you that I've fallen into a daily routine of a 30 minute eye sketch quite comfortably. *high fives all around* I'm almost at the halfway mark of this current pocket-size sketchbook.

Of course, the annual #the100dayproject starts next week...so I shall see if I can still keep up with the daily eye sketches. *winks*

Any guesses on what subject matter I would tackling this year?

Last year I did mixed media blooms. Definitely want to work on something different this year so that I can hopefully get somewhat proficient at it at the end of the 100 days. :)

Workspace Wednesday - Wood obsession

So I may have a teeny weeny obsession with wood trays? *winks* Meet my current bedroom collection. Yep, I have a collection to use for the "staged" photos. *dramatic music plays in the background*

Like this one with a muffin on a doily. And a cup of tea.

And this one with some CNY cookies and a cup of tea.

Do I take photos of all my snacks and beverages? Clearly not. Do I hate that I don't share authentic real-life pics on social media? Yep. But I just take it as a way to exercise some creative photo-taking. Because people like to look at pretty things. And the truth is that I do enjoy the "staged" snacks a little more because they look more appetising. *LOL*

P/s: I never actually eat/drink when I draw/paint or work on creative projects. Do you?

Happy Galentine's Day - an upcycled decorated box

Happy Galentine's Day friends! Here's a really sweet up cycled decorated box to celebrate all my gal pals! :)

I had been hoarding this American Crafts glittered patterned paper for a really long time. At first, I just wanted to use the paper for the sides of the cover. Then I decided to fussy-cut the blooms and layer them on each other. The box cover is still flat but you can see a little dimension with the layers.

The base of the cover is a flocked text patterned paper with a bit of a satin sheen so there's a slight texture without bulkiness. :)

I don't think I did the box justice with these photos. But in real life, it turned out really pretty! Can't wait to fill it up with rose-themed gifts for one lucky gal pal. Would it be you? *winks*
