My latest love...Prima resist chalk edgers

A-dream-is-a-wish-your-heart-makes-canvas

I am currently enamoured with Prima resist chalk edgers. :)

They glide on so easily and are permanent when dry so you can layer and spritz with wild abandon![If you play with mediums, you will understand how cool this is...*winks*]

I love inks that you can use in different ways without ruining your manicure...*winks*. I used three ink colours + water for the entire canvas.

Don't you love this beautiful sentiment?

A CAS card ...plus a giveaway winner!

SWAK-card

These days, I'm really into CAS cards. It's really more challenging to have to restrain yourself rather than just pile it on, right?  *winks* Just a fun card with a stencil + light modeling paste, a chipboard heart + stickles and a SRM Sticker sentiment.

Playing along with CAS(E) this sketch.

Guess who got new sunglasses?

So nephew J and niece S were excited to test-drive their new sunglasses. She got a sweet and pink Tinkerbell pair while he rocked a blue and green Toy Story one. [20% off Disney sunglasses...*winks*

Here they are...working it for the camera...*LOL*

I wanted this layout to look like an advertisement so I kept everything really simple. :)

Playing along with ARTastic Challenge...I used remnant lace on the background to create texture and interest.

Tiered "cake" for Xyron...a tutorial

Tiered-cake-for-Xyron

So this is "Not Xyron but should be" week. :) The Design Team got to pick projects from Pinterest to "recreate" using Xyron. Can you tell what I made?

Here's my niece Sophie posing with it....*winks* [Yeah...it's totally missing a cake stand!]

I went with this lovely project from Kimberly Taylor.

I started by stamping on white wrapping tissue.

Then I ran the stamped tissue through the Xyron 9" Creative Station for an even layer of adhesive.

I tore the wrapping tissue and adhered to the box. Overlapping the tissue creates texture.

I ran some lace through the Xyron 3" Sticker maker, then adhered to the edges of the lids of the boxes.

Then I coloured some white floral trim with a Copic marker and adhered to the lids of the boxes.

The last step is to embellish with pearls and blooms.

So, what do you think?

Do you need to jump through a flaming hoop or follow me across all the social media platforms [buttons on right sidebar] and tell all your friends about this in order to win? Nope. The fewer the people, the higher your chances right? *LOL*

Seriously though. Just leave me a comment. Tell me something I don't know about you. A little bit of flattery wouldn't hurt either...*winks* and I'll pick the winner next Friday!

Hopes of landing a cover...

So everyone wants to be published in a magazine or a book...it's part of the rite of passage in the scrapbooking world, right? I thought that I could rest on my laurels since the nephews and niece have all had layouts of them published in print magazines.

But when the two older nephews found out that my blog pal Lizzy Hill's layout made the cover of Scrapbooking Memories magazine, the wheels started spinning in their heads... They initiated "photo shoot" sessions with the hopes of being "coverboys"...*LOL*

It was pretty entertaining watching them "direct" their two younger siblings in the photo sessions while I shoot away. I don't think we've nailed any cover shots yet...but one should be hopeful, eh? *winks*

Happy birthday to me! :)

Hot-air-balloon-mixed-media-canvas

Happy birthday to me! :)

Finally took my box of highly neglected Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Crayons out to play! Love how the colours intensify when they react with water! :)

I've been in a dreamy mood of late so I went with a lace-covered hot air balloon and whimsical mix of elements. :)

Vintage lace over a mixed media background

Create-mixed-media-canvas

Sometimes one can get stuck in a rut when working with the same surface. Not sure if you've noticed, but I tend to start my canvases with scrunched up wrapping tissue...like 90% of the time. *LOL*

I love the look of canvas but it's a little too "flat" for my liking. The scrunched up wrapping tissue adds that bit of texture and you can still see the canvas texture underneath.

Here I coloured the scrunched up wrapping tissue + gessoed base with metallic Faber Castell gelatos, then layered come vintage lace over. I love the dreamy result of the background which shimmers when you look at the canvas at an angle. :)

After that, I just went a little crazy with the embellishments from my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash. :)

Batch processing...is the way I roll

Hello-hello-card

I tend to work on several projects at the same time...mediums need time to dry [too lazy to get out the heat gun *winks*], sometimes I can't decide on which creative direction I want to head to OR I'm just having a bad art day [Believe me, it happens a lot...*LOL*]. So when it's a good art day, batch processing is the way to go for me.

Like with this card. Since I had the sewing machine all set up for my layout stitching, I put together some paper scraps for a quick card too. :)

What about you? Do you need to work on a project from start-to-finish before you move on? OR do you want on several at the same time and batch process them if they include similar materials/techniques?
