Sometimes one can get stuck in a rut when working with the same surface. Not sure if you've noticed, but I tend to start my canvases with scrunched up wrapping tissue...like 90% of the time. *LOL*
I love the look of canvas but it's a little too "flat" for my liking. The scrunched up wrapping tissue adds that bit of texture and you can still see the canvas texture underneath.
Here I coloured the scrunched up wrapping tissue + gessoed base with metallic Faber Castell gelatos, then layered come vintage lace over. I love the dreamy result of the background which shimmers when you look at the canvas at an angle. :)
After that, I just went a little crazy with the embellishments from my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash. :)

Beautiful! What does the back look like? How do you attach your lace?
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing at the back, just carried the designs down the sides. I used gel medium.

ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. I didn't know word verification was on. I don't like it either. When I checked it out it didn't ask me so when I went to settings I saw that I did have it on. EEK.. What a pain it is:)
