July's art haul

So I just found this photo of my recent art haul (July 1st) on my phone. I bought sketchbooks/art journals with every intention to start a travel sketchbook, a nature sketchbook and a daily practice sketchbook.

Well friends, today is the 28th of July....and this gal has started on NONE. And found out that she has at least 4 brand new art journals/sketchbook in her stash...and didn't need this art haul in the first place. *sad music plays in the background*

Story of my life. *LOL*

P/s: The only consolation is that the sketchbooks/art journals are all DIFFERENT...so if I actually find a purpose for each, I could totally justify the "unnecessary" purchase....right? *tries to high five someone*

Tuesday's 5 minute project

Happy Tuesday! Today I present a 5 minute decorated Kraft bag project. Kept everything in the "blue" family and finished off with a wax seal. I could add a sentiment later on of course.:)

P/s: Hope things are well with you. Mum tested positive for Covid on Friday so it's back to making 3 meals a day and laundry duty for me again. *sad music plays in the background*

Make Stuff Monday - a decorated box!

Happy Monday friends! Today's Make Stuff Monday is a decorated box! Yep...it's been a while since I last shared a decorated box. :)

I had lots of fun putting together this collage...and keeping everything relatively flat for ease of storage and transport.

The base of the box can be folded flat...so you just need to have space for the lid of the box in order to store it.

Happy week ahead friends! :)

Mummy Yam's birthday 2022

Earlier this month, we celebrated Mummy Yam's birthday. I was travelling the next day so it was a busy day for me, making bread for my "kid" (aka nephew #1), baking and icing a cake...and cooking lunch and dinner...you know the usual stuff. *winks*

I must say that I was tempted to buy a cake instead of making it from scratch like Papa Yam's cake last month. But I was sick last month and this month, I was perfectly well. No excuses. So I kept it simple. I made an almond flavoured white cake (lots of egg whites after making pastry cream) with peaches in cream cheese frosting.

Well you know your gal here likes to challenge herself on time-crunched days *LOL* so she went for a new cream cheese frosting recipe...which whipped up okay but didn't quite hold up. So the cake looked pretty rustic. *hahaha*

It was yummy though. :)

This week's Tuesday quick project

Happy Tuesday friends! Still working on decorating my stash of Kraft treat bags. Here is this week's super quick version.:)

I used a base patterned paper, a notecard that says, "hello beautiful", a strip of scallop sticker at the bottom of the notecard and I finished with a piece of lace that I tied into a bow at the top.

It actually looks quite pretty in real life because the flourishes on the notecard are foiled in gold but I can't quite capture it in the photo.

Hope your week is going well. I just went for an acupuncture and cupping session on my left heel. And it has to be wrapped in a bandage for 36 hours...which means I can skip a workout tomorrow! I mean, not because I'm lazy but because I can't wear my workout shoes of course. *winks*

Make Stuff Monday - a layout about the stuff I made

In today's Make Stuff Monday I'm sharing a layout about the stuff I made last week. :)

I don't like to overindulge the Yams...but I'd rather make the treats myself (from scratch of course) than have them pick up some ultra-processed snacks from the supermarket.

Last week I made 3 loaves of organic sandwich bread. I can only fit 3 loaf pans in my small oven in a single bake...let's save some electricity ...and the 27 slices lasted 4 days.

And I also baked a peach and blueberry frangipane tart. Which also lasted 4 days. *winks*

So...I might have gotten a teeny weeny bit carried away with the embellishing of this layout. You know, just a little...*LOL*

But I had fun, stash got used and memories got documented. :)

Happy week ahead friends!

Friday's Florals - today's practice piece

Happy Friday! Can you believe that it's been a year since I started painting watercolour florals?

I'm trying to get back to my daily practice because as you can clearly see from today's practice piece, I need all the practice I can get. *LOL*

Enjoy your weekend friends!

This Thursday's decorated kraft bag

Going for a muted colour palette for this week's decorated Kraft bag. ;)

These papers are actually the 'b' side of a Christmas paper pack.:)

Just a friendly reminder to appreciate the little things in life...

As I try to put out the fires at home right now....and trying to manage my own affairs. That's life, right? :)

Workspace Wednesday - a messy work-in-progress piece

Just sharing my workspace on a Wednesday - a messy work-in-progress piece. I hated what I painted and decided to just blur everything out for the dreamy wet-in-wet look which I hadn't done in a while. I'm thinking it needs some finishing touches...or maybe I'm done with this piece? Decisions, decisions, decisions. *winks*

Hope you are having a great Wednesday friends. :)

Tuesday's upcycled project

This upcycled decorated paper bag was really hard to photograph....but it was a super fun one to make. :)

I used a scalloped frame, washi tape, stickers and fussy-cut elements.

I found a whole of "new" stickers in my stash to use! :)

Happy Tuesday! :)

Mixed Media Monday - another mixed media eye drawing

Happy Monday friends! Hope you are doing well. Things have been a little hectic of late...and when that happens, I fall back on something familiar. Like drawing an eye. Which is at this point is my form of meditation. :)

P/s: If you are interested in the sped-up precess d drawing this eye, I have a IG reel on it.

A page from my travel sketchbook

Well, this gal has finally gotten on a plane again *high fives all around*. Here is a page from my travel sketchbook. I did the first eye in pencil because I didn't want to take out my box of coloured pencils on the plane. Then I remembered how bad my graphite sketches were and did the second eye in coloured pencils. Way better right? *LOL* Definitely need to work on my graphite drawings though. :)

Make Stuff Monday - colourful decorated paper bag

In today's Make Stuff Monday, I'm sharing a colourful decorated paper bag. :)

These days I've been enjoying the "b' sides of my patterned paper stash. You know how we love the 'a' sides of patterned papers because of some cute motif or text but they never end uo being used because they never seem to go on any project? Well, it's time to explore the 'b' sides, more understated and totally usable. *winks*

How cute are the little birdies? Hope this project puts a smile on your face as we start another week. :)
