Back before my scrapbooking days, I collected a lot of other "stuff". Like bottles of perfume. You know, to find my signature scent...*winks*
Anyway, one of my faves [out of maybe 10 bottles...who am I kidding? x3 *LOL*] is Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier. And the nearly empty bottle was perfect for my project for LESSology Challenge #53: Dress Form. Coincidentally, an artist friend of mine, S, passed me this air dry clay which he uses to make sculptures. So I rummaged through my stash to find a vintage-inspired door knob to serve as my base for my dress form "sculpture". *LOL*
My initial idea was to create a sturdy bracelet stand but the bottle was a little too small. So I covered the bottle with strips of book paper adhered with matte medium. You can use any paper scraps for this but thinner papers are easier to work with. After that, I added a clay layer and inserted my door knob base.
Now you could skip the paper step and just use the clay if you like but that would make your dress form pretty heavy and you might require a sturdier base. Plus, it takes forever to dry! [Okay, I'm exaggerating!]
Once it was dry, I adhered remnant lace pieces to my dress form. Now, I have to be honest. It took a few days! I would adhere one piece, head out for the day, come back, adhere another piece, go to bed and start the whole process again the next day.
For now, it holds my fave bracelet. And I think I might create a whole collection of these for displaying and holding my accessories. What do you think?
What an amazing and beautiful project, Yvonne! I love the way you altered the perfume bottle to make an awesome work of art! LOVE it!!!
