A lesson in messing around...

All-natural

Ever thought your finished project just needed a little extra something, then proceeded to add that "extra something" and have it pretty much backfire on you?

Well, this was mine.

The 30-minute layout that became a 60-minute horror show....

I started with a little grid stamping with my new distress paint on the background, then proceeded to lay my photos and embellishments.

Then I thought it might be a good idea to add more distress paint [yes...I just got this distress paint...*winks*]. For some reason, I loved the circles I got with the dabber and I swear something possessed me...and before long [like 2 minutes later], there were orange circles all over my layout! [dramatic music plays in the background...]

Then I thought I should add some stamping to tone down all the orange. After the first stamping, I realized that I stamped the text upside down [yeah...it just got more messy!]. At this point, I was feeling like the lead actress in a crafting horror show...*LOL*

In the end, I added some fiber paste with a stencil and finished with distress glitter. Glitter always saves the day! :)

What about you? Ever been the lead in your own craft horror show?  Join me, I'm an A lister...*LOL*

Playing along with the glitter challenge at The Studio Challenges...I used stickles and sequins.

  3. Great job! I did actually have a horror show last week! I had a layout for the challenge "SATW" and I stuffed it up with black Dylusions ink! In a big way! I couldn't salvage anything and it ended up in the bin! That hadn't happened in a very very long time! Lol!

  4. Heehee! Sooo not on your own...but it looks great & I like the orange circles & who SAID writing should be the right way up, anyway????!!!!!
Happens to me all the time - I never know when to stop is the problem OR I'll use the wrong colour mist or paint & have to keep adding to fix it!!!!

  5. Really agree with Lizzy Hill....whosoever says writing can be right way up only does not know about 'creative license'!!

  18. HaHa, yes, I do that all the time......think I need to do just one more little thing, and I end up almost ripping the whole thing apart...:) But you never know until you try, right? And I think your "horror show" is absolutely adorable!

  20. Haha you are so funny Yvonne!! I felt the same way about my chipboard layout with all the gold gears. Took me 4 hours & looked cheap & kitschy at the end of it! I guess we are getting our therapy enjoying the process!!!
