7 ideas for layering stencils to create your own background

I have been enjoying creating my own backgrounds by layering stencils. You can layer them all at one go and then adding your mediums. OR build the layers one at a time. Here are 7 ideas. :)

How about a cupcake?

Cupcake-mixed-media-tag

Hmmmm...I could so have a cupcake right about now...*winks*. How about you?

I used a ScrapFX stencil with Golden fiber paste [it dries white] on Ranger grungeboard. When that dried, I randomly dripped Daler Rowney liquid acrylics....and went to bed....[seriously...*LOL*]. When I woke up, I had this fun abstract piece...:)

I adhered an SRM sticker to patterned paper and framed it with a blue frame [courtesy of Annette Allen...she makes them for sale!].

A roll of pearls = one hour of entertainment

A-moment-in-time

This is why I love little girls...give them a roll of pearls and they entertain themselves for a good hour...like my niece S...*LOL*

Look how happy she was...she even allowed me to take photos without a bribe [read: chocolate]. *winks*

Road tested my new magical box of happiness....Neocolor II crayons...on the background.

For the love of lace and cameo...

Dreams-come-true-canvas

Hello friends! Just wanted to share with you a 6x6 canvas made with embroidered lace and resin cameo from the Craftpon Etsy Store. :)

The gorgeous lace from Craftpon was large enough for me to cover my canvas....love the peekaboo look of lace. :)

I went a little crazy with Golden gold mica flakes, white mica flakes and gold paint on the Blue Fern Studios chipboard

P/s: Last week to play along with the challenges at Let's Get Trendy Now!3. Come join in the fun! :)

*Edited* This canvas was published in Create: Vintage February 2014. :)

A girly layout...:)

Blooming-beauty

So I'm really enjoying being aunt to this little cutie. My niece S is such a refreshing change from the rowdy nephews! *LOL*

She can spend a whole afternoon trying on my accessories...telling me...."so nice.." and beams when I tell her how pretty she looks.*winks*

And the upside is of course...a girly layout...with the sweet embellishments from Purple Pumpkin.

I love that my SRM sticker "dresses" up my fabric button. Guess who made the new SRM stickers design team? :)

Mists and mediums for the Blue Fern Studios chipboard. :)

My thing for birds....

So-happy-together-Bo-Bunny-card

Have you noticed that I have a thing for birds? You can tell by my recent projects featuring the Prima resin bird right? I really only have one pack of it...*LOL*

Love these 4 birdies on the Bo Bunny patterned paper...added some glossy accents for a little pop. :)

P/s: Happy weekend friends! I'm hoping for some rain to clear out the awful haze we've been having in Singapore over the past week. Meanwhile, some reminders about ongoing challenges...

1. The June Purple Pumpkin sketch - you don't need any Purple Pumpkin products to play along so join in the fun and you could be the winner of a A$25/$15 shopping voucher at the Purple Pumpkin store.
2. LESSology Challenge #26: Feed the bead - you can submit any project you like as long as it includes at least 1 upcycled item and beads.

A fun ATC using scraps! :)

Papermarket-ATC

Hello friends. Just wanted to share a fun ATC using my scraps. :)

Lovelovelove my latest craft supply addiction. White mica flakes. The sparkle just makes me happy. :)  And I'm trying my very best to use up my puffy heart stickers...they can't stick to the adhesive sheet they came on and I have them everywhere on my craft desk....*LOL*

Miniature bottle - mixed media style... :)

Mixed-media-on-upcycled-bottle

So last week, I shared with you my first decorated miniature bottle. Since I had another empty gin bottle, I decided to decorate another. :) [For those of you who were curious about the number of mini bottles I took from the plane..2 gin, 1 whiskey...and I only drank one on the plane plus lots of water and juice...alcohol is really dehydrating...especially at high altitudes...a girl's gotta look good after a long flight...*winks*].

I started with some crepe paper for texture...then added metallic paints. When that dried, I added Golden glass bead gel for extra texture.

I added some washi tape at the top to cover up some gel medium marks [washi tape makes a great concealer for mishaps!]. Then added a layer of Golden gold mica flakes for sparkling texture. Some pearls and a gold button helped to "finish" the project. :)

When my patterned paper scraps match my washi tape...:)

Bo-Bunny-SRM-stickers-card

I love it when my patterned paper scraps match my washi tape! Can you tell which is washi tape? *winks*

A little texture with some ribbon and felt...and SRM stickers...and my card is complete! :)

How do you organize your layouts/photos?

Say-cheese-sunshine

Does it seem like I take a lot of pictures of the nephews + niece? Because they only have one "official" photo shoot [5 minutes to take as many photos as I can] each month...unless there's a birthday or some special excursion. I actually have more pics of food...hehe...totally into food porn..*LOL*

This is really to cut down the number of scrapbooks for each of them...the older two scrapbook their individual photos in their art journal books. And the two younger ones will have 12x12 scrapbooks till they are 6. And they also have art journal albums for remnant photos.

The family photos are in 12 x 12 albums...for easy viewing in the family area.

My travel photos are all 8.5 x 11 to save on storage space....even though I prefer 12x12 layouts. What about you? How do you organize your layouts/photos?

Inspired by the sketch at ScrapFriends...and using fabulous chipboard from Blue Fern Studios. :)
