Previously, I showed you what was on my craft desk. You would have noticed that I love organizing my craft supplies in clear containers. :) Today I want to share with you why I love clear organization.
1. When you "see" something, you are more likely to use it.
These are my "staples". I like to store them by colour because I design by colour. Some people like to store products by type.
2. You don't need to label them because you can see what's inside.
I'm constantly reorganizing my supplies based on what I like to use at that point in time. Rotating my supplies means all my supplies get my love. Eventually. *winks*
3. Neatly organized containers with their pretty colours can jazz up a craft space.
Because you can see through them, they take up less visual space in your craft area.
On days when I don't feel creative, I like to admire how pretty my supplies are....yeah, I'm weird.

this is so cool.. I think I need to do this... I normally store by product and end up missing using a lot of things I have in my stash!
ReplyDeleteStoring by color definitely helps...i store by color so i know the advantages...n yess clear storage helps not only that u are more likely to use when u see the supply but also fiddling through supplies is a lot easier as u dont have to open each n every box to check how much supply is left n of course the labelling part as mentioned is not needed too

ReplyDeleteOh dear... I store in whatever I can find at the time. Usually pretty boxes or boxes I can pretty up...but haven't got around to just yet....& all over the place. Totally ad hoc.....but I LOVE your ideas. Just can't get rid of my pretties......
ReplyDeletecute lil boxes,well organised, i am collecting the transparent choc boxes,battery storage boxes,nowadays to store my washitapes,ribbons,buttons,its so helpful if you can see through them.atleast reminds me of what i have and makes me to do something with them.
ReplyDeleteYes like you Yvonne, clears containers for brads, buttons and little blingies, not always by colours but by size. So tiny little TH brads I store with similar size but different colour, coz I can still see them all, but I would "loos" them in a mix of bigger ones, with same colour, does that make sense? ReplyDeleteHa! I just recently cleaned up my area and will be sharing pics on Monday! Too funny! I have all sorts of storage ... My area is a mod podge of colors, textures, containers, shelves ... I don't think one thing matches! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI love your clear containers, Yvonne! I so agree that if you can see your stuff, you are way more likely to use it.....plus, I think it looks really pretty, too. I store my buttons in vintage Bell jars, and love to look at them. But I could sure use more clear storage. Too much of my stuff is out of sight, out of mind.

ReplyDeleteAll good points-- I should really get organized... mainly my desk. I have my supplies for recording videos all over (why take it down when I will need it again in a couple of days! LOL!)! LOVE those little circle containers-- must get some of those;)
ReplyDeleteFabulous way to hold/organize your little goodies! I use clear containers for little things as well. I also use baskets for the larger things and organize by likeness.
ReplyDeleteMy stuff is stored by product in antique dressers with multiple drawers. However, I keep my mixed-media in trays on my table for easy access. Good to see what works for you!

For craft purposes evrything is arranged in the drawers....but i use clear boxes too for storing all my beads and jewellery supplies....I like ur button collection soooo cute :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about using supplies that are easily seen...I don't have many clear containers, so constantly have to look through boxes to see what I have! I think I need to start investing in some clear containers!
