The Sew Book

The sew book cover

Happy Thursday friends! :) Today I'm sharing The Sew Book - an acrylic 6x6 book cover. Or at least that was my intent...*LOL* It's sitting pretty as a display piece at the moment. :)

The edges were inked with Stazon. Patterned papers are from My Little Shoebox. The brown box frame was upcycled from packaging. Punchinella, pearls, buttons, pins, American Crafts foam thickers, Cosmo Cricket letter stickers, star stickers, wrinkle ribbon, baker's twine, stickles and Martha Stewart edge punch.

P/s: Really hope to see you participate in my guest Debbie's embossing and sanding challenge! There's an awesome prize package! :)

Birdhouse love

Birdhouse

Hello there! :) It was so fun to read the comments on yesterday's post - turns out that there are many paper hoarders! *LOL*

Challenge # 2 is up at Bows and Berries and it's Inspired by Nature. I used the cute birdhouse image (Psst....you get 25% off if you use this code at checkout :BB25) and Lily Bee papers.

I altered a tart mold. :) Pearls, tulle, trim, ribbon, doiley, punchinella and bling..

Did a little paper piecing and coloured the rest of the image with Copics. Added a little stickles for some sparkle! The metal clip lets you attach a photo or a love note. :)

P/s: I would really love for you to play along with my guest Debbie's embossing and sanding challenge! :)

I'm trying to use up my old papers...are you? :)

15 Jan 2011

I don't know about you but I'm furiously trying to use up my old papers (okay 2010 papers) to make way for new ones...*LOL* The "one in, one out" system works well for me....less clutter and hoarding. :) What about you?

This layout features my nephews and Lily Bee papers, utilizing the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays and inspired by the challenge at Scrap the Boys to document a specific moment in time.

A little fussy cutting and layering of embellishments.

I upcycled a sock hanger here...:)

P/s: I went totally off-grid this past weekend so I'll be making my blog visits today!:) Don't forget about my guest Debbie's embossing and sanding challenge....I would love for you to play along! :)

*Edited* This layout was a fave on Sketchy Thursdays! :)

Embossing with Debbie Standard!

My guest today is the lovely Debbie Standard of Live Life Loud. I got to know her when we were both on the Card Patterns team. She is the ultimate colour extraordinaire! Her creations are always bright and eye-catching and perfectly embellished. Each visit to her blog is truly a spectacular visual feast! Today, she shares how she uses just cardstock and embossing folders to create amazing projects. She's also hosting a challenge with an awesome prize!!! :)

But first, let's drool over her gallery, shall we?

****************************************************************
I was so flattered that Yvonne asked me to be a guest on her blog.  I am a huge fan of her work and loved working with her at Card Patterns last year. Her work is always so inspirational so I keep her on my list of blogs I visit often. I love working with color and cardstock. I started scrapping with my daughter, Kim Moreno, about 13 years ago and was immediately hooked.  As a critical care nurse I love the artistic outlet that scrapbooking provides me.  This is my happy place.  Since I joined Core’dination’s Design Team a year or two back I have had the opportunity to get to work with all their fabulous products and as a result have learned that it is entirely possible to create great cards and layouts with very little patterned paper or none at all.  With all the different embossing folders on the market you can actually create any pattern that you want and if you want to add color to it you can just chalk over the embossing or ink it.  One of the advantages of the Core’dinations cardstock is that the “core” is a different shade or color and you can just sand your embossed work or sand their pre-embossed cardstock to get different tones.  Here are a few of the many many different pages and cards that I have done recently.

Try this yourself and see how much fun it can be.

Isn't it amazing what a little embossing and sanding can do to create awesome backgrounds? Drool-worthy right? Are you ready to play along with Debbie's challenge?

*Edited* The winner of the challenge will get:
1. A $25 gift certificate to Two Peas.

And if you use Core'dinations cardstock in your creation, they want to feature it on their blog! :) Isn't that exciting??? :) Don't forget me when you get famous! *winks*

The challenge: Link your newly created projects showcasing embossing and sanding in a unique way by Friday April 8 via Inlinkz (located at the end of this post).

As always, please leave a little love for my guest Debbie! :)

Thank you so much friends!!! :)

Nyc 2010

Hello there my friends! Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes on my Tweet post, emails and via Facebook!!! :)

Today's layout features my sister. In NYC. I was determined to upcycle this brown paper bag I had in my stash (too beaten up to use as a gift bag) so I really worked all my elements around it...*LOL*

I added some blue paint with a brayer for the sky (love the effect!) A cut-out cloud and birds...:) A little handstitching to create a little pocket for the pull-out tag.

I used the sketch at Get Your Sketch On, Prima papers, Gauche Alchemy Envy Green Mixed Media Color Kit, punchinella, Crochet doiley, SRM stickers, American Crafts puffy stickers, paint, thread, tag and string.

P/s: You have till Friday to submit your entries for my guest Michelle's Get out of your comfort zone challenge! I will be showcasing another amazing guest tomorrow! :)

*Edited* I won challenge #11 over at Get Your Sketch On with this layout! :)
