Let's swing!

Let's swing!

Let's swing! features my nephew, O, having a little fun at Ikea in December 2008...(you may recall that he just celebrated his 3rd birthday earlier this month).

This was done on an 18X12 canvas. I wanted to do a double page spread but decided that this would look great on the wall (plus I just had one of these in my stash :). I took the photos in sequence but this is what happens when you don't use a tripod and you are squatting..*LOL* I aligned the bar in the photos...Just random painting and stamping on the background, ribbon and chipboard....

Spring

Spring

I live in a place where it's summer all year round (yeah...hot hot hot!)...but my favourite season is spring...I love to travel in spring...it's a little cold but not freezing...I get to see the renewal of greenery...blooming flowers....new beginnings...

This is a picture of me at age 2, enjoying the greenery at a park. I edited the photo and printed it on transparency..scraps from Webster's Pages, some tulle (a current favourite), flowers, stickers, a little handstiching, brown distress inks, glimmer mist/masking..

Inspired by These are a few of my favorite things.

Scrapping Out Loud! blog hop!

Taking flight

Hello friends! This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is up! You are required to use oversized embellishments and alphas on your page. We all have such embellishments right? Or perhaps you could make them? So, put on your creative thinking hats and get cracking! But hey, not until you partake in the Scrapping Out Loud ! blog hop!
Here's where you start: 1. Scrapping Out Loud blog

Leave a comment at each of the blogs so that you can be entered into the drawing to win a RAK!

My layout, Taking Flight, features my nephew, O, in a photo taken in April 2009. I used Poladroid for the photo. My oversized embellishments are naked chipboard pieces from Fancy Pants...I used patterned paper from Graphic 45...inked the edges with distress ink in black soot, then added a layer of crackle paint in Rock Candy for an awesome texture...some handstitching in a contrasting thread colour for added interest...bling and journaling with a white pen. Glitter chipboard letters are from American Crafts.

So leave me a comment and head back to the Scrapping Out Loud blog. Good luck! :)

Monday

Love love love

Made this Love love love card for a friend celebrating an anniversary next month....a little drama with the ruffled tulle...ink, ribbons and brads...the sentiment is from an Inkadinkado stamp...stamped on a paper scrap, then adhered to the brad...all brads and paper from Imaginisce..

Inspired by Moxie Fab World.

Mad House

Mad House? Nah...just sugar high from all the candy...I consider myself a pretty good negotiator when it comes to achieving a win-win situation with my nephews...so I was reading somewhere that people "bribe" kids with treats to get the "perfect" shot...my experience was a total fiasco of course...[check out those photos...lol]...Turns out you are supposed to take the photos first, then give the treats as a reward. I gave the treats first and by the time we got set up for the shoot...I got funny faces, giggling and NO cooperation...Oh well, we did have fun!

I did get a layout of that day done with this week's song at Scrapping the Music - Our House. Some Sassafras scraps...I really love the paint masking effect...;) This time I tried it with double layer stitching this time....A lot of work but it came out really nice...(I think)..the background cardstock is dark grey and really hard to photograph.

Friday

Japanese

I love Japanese food...do you? There's this restaurant I go to every month for their Kaiseki course...yum...I get a little of everything that is fresh and in season..excellent sashimi..:) .

Love these "old" Sassafras papers...used some felt and ribbon...a little masking for my title work (paint and sponge), handstitching (around the title), faux stitching (white pen), some brads along the ribbon border.

Today

Today...okay, it was Saturday when I took this photo. So, I've always wanted a care bear (oh yes, I have a lot of toys for a grown woman...more on that in another post perhaps ;)...so a friend got me one...the pink Cheer bear...which my two nephews adored...the bear has the drool of both of them (yes, she needs a washing!)...so my mum, the doting grandma decided to get them one each..hence the 3 care bears in this photo. There's a sweet story behind this photo. Click on the smaller picture to read the journaling if you are curious ;).

Some masking using paint and a sponge...I outlined with a white pen to add a little more dimension...I used a Tim Holtz clock mask because this week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to scrap about time....some stamping, some stitching...ribbon and stickers...Love this bright orange cardstock..it makes me happy!

Have a great Tuesday!

Monday

M & J

M & J...My mum and dad on their wedding day...Just a quick layout using Graphic 45, a little rock candy crackle paint on the flowers (love this stuff), doiley, some lace, ribbon. distressing and inking around the edges...check out that cute crown and that lovely lace (gifts from my blogland friend Mandy)...:)

Inspired by the challenge at Let's Get Shabby.

*Edited* This layout got an honourable mention at Let's get shabby...:)

Ocean

This week's song at Scrapping The Music is Beautiful Dawn...I used the word Ocean from the lyrics for my layout which features my second nephew, Ocean, on this third birthday two weeks ago. It is extremely difficult to take pictures of this cutie because he clams up in front of the camera...:(

Just a scrap of patterned paper (Cosmo Cricket), did a little sponge painting, fussy stitching (it took forever!), creative sticker piecing (to spell my title)...Come play along!

Sunday

Hello

Hello! I'm the Guest Designer this week at Card Patterns, an awesome card sketch challenge blog...One of the first few places I've been playing at since I started making cards in March this year.

I had a lot of fun making this card using felt, tulle, doiley and some Prima flowers.. letter brads and a little handstitching...:)

Saturday

Have a bootiful day

Have a bootiful day my friends! I'm fascinated by all things Halloween...we don't celebrate it in Singapore (read: no holiday!) and Halloween merchandise is generally hard to find..;( I love the dark eerie scary aspect of Halloween (appeals to my morbid side) and of course the treats...

So this is what I'm sharing with you today...a little signage I made...I used the web mask from Tim Holtz, then handstiched (yes, it took a long time)...the little felt pieces were from my local $2 store...I added stickles for some sparkle....

And some ideas for treats...Milk cartons painted black, a little bow, some monsters from Sassafras (added a little crackle paint in rock candy for some cool dimension), crepe paper and candy!

Hope you enjoy my little Halloween projects...continue with your Halloween blog party hop over at A Fanciful Twist...and have bootiful day!

* Edited* These cartons were featured on the Sassafras blog! :)

8.6.9

This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to use naked chipboard...yeah, no paint, no glitter, no ink...just bare...:) My layout 8.6.9 features my dad, mum & sister and a birthday cake....my sister was pretty dramatic as usual but it was actually my dad's birthday...these pictures crack me up! ;)

I used Scenic Route Paper (so sad about the whole liquidation thing) and Fancy Pants chipboard.

Monday

The best things

This week's challenge at Scrapping The Music is up! The song is You are the best thing....My layout The Best Things features my youngest nephew laying on my bed...daydreaming while staring at my chandelier...

I kept my supplies to a minimum on this layout. Some chipboard, mist, ribbon, stickles, black ink, glitter stickers and a black pen. I used the chipboard stars as a mask and then used them on the layout for some dimension. The layout is actually very sparkly with all the mist and stickles (which isn't obvious in the photo...:( Hmmm...I should really take closeup photos instead of making you imagine...LOL..

Happy Monday my friends! Wishing you the best things in life!

Just a quick note to my friends...Maggi and Cindy: Your happy mail was sent out today!

Sunday

Laugh

I laugh a lot....(mostly at myself;)...a lot while watching tv/movies and reading blogs...How often do you laugh with carefree abandon? It's a great stress reliever and really helps you see the brighter side of life...:)

Check out my goofy face and laugh out loud!

Played with Prima papers and stamps on this layout! Also tried out the Rock Candy Crackle Paint (on the red roses)....LOVE the subtle cracks!

Cute! reveal and winner!

Hello! As promised (see yesterday's post), here's the Cute! reveal...the folded flap opens for some hidden journaling and there's a pocket under that for the pull-out card! And the winner is Maggi! Yay!

Thanks for playing along! :) This has been fun! I'm in the midst of organizing my scrap supplies so stay tuned for more RAKs! *wink*

By the way, scrapbooksetc.com has some awesome ideas for hidden journaling! Check it out HERE! Hope they inspire you!

Tuesday

Cute!

Supplies: Patterned paper: KI Memories (b/w background), Sassafras (photo mat) & Cosmo Cricket (border strip), Title stickers: American Crafts, Others: Cardstock, cork paper, stickers, white pen.

This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to create a scene with your layout. The scene must include at least 2 pockets/slots for hidden photos or journaling. The DT really did a great job on this one...you must go check it out here. I can't wait to see what you have hidden! :) My layout, Cute! features my two ShiTzus when they were puppies...this was when they couldn't walk yet...they could only crawl on their bellies...weren't they cute? Okay, they're still cute today...:) Mine is an outdoor scene using my favourite animal stickers..love those little monkeys!

So, where are my hidden pockets/slots? Hazard a guess and I'll send someone a little RAK which includes those monkey stickers and some other goodies!

Happy Tuesday! :) See you tomorrow for the reveal and winner!

Monday

I live on an island

This week's challenge at Scrapping the Music is the theme song from Gilligan's Island. I live on an island and thought that it would be cool to just document about the things happening right now...What's going on in your world?

Love these papers from College Press...decided to try circles on my LO...without taking out my circle cutter (lol)! Freehand! Don't look too close! Come play along and have a great week ahead!
