Monday
You sparkle
Patterned paper: Prima, Others: Glimmer mist, flower bling, glossy accents, letter stickers and 3D dots.
Just wanted to try out the spiral flowers on a card (Carrie, what do you think?)...finally, some use for my shaped scissors (I have quite a few ;) I sprayed glimmer mist all over the card after attaching the paper flowers...and added some glossy accents to the flowers on the patterned paper. Do you like my You sparkle card?

Buddies
It's a brand new week and this week's challenge at Scrapping The Music is the song Friends Forever...I went for the brights with my layout - Buddies...using bits and pieces of cutout scraps...those elements in olive green were misted using the frame from a Fancy Pants chipboard set and handstitched. Come play along! :)
*Edited* This layout was featured on the Sassafras blog...:)

Best wishes to you!

Garden
I'm playing along with These are a few of my favorite things...the challenge is to scrap about your favourite room...mine is sort of a "room"...a little potted garden in the condo I used to stay...a beautiful patio space that opens up to the pool. I spent hours here, potting and landscaping...My first garden..:)
I'm sorry for the photo quality...it's so hard to photograph the portion where I cut off the back of the paper to create a frame with baby blue tulle...the tulle was scrunched up to create a 3D effect and the mini photos were attached to the tulle by 3D dots...it has a pop-out effect which you can't really tell by the photo.
*Edited* Here's a better photo..

I don't want to miss a thing!
The song "I don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith is one of my favourites...I used the lyrics as my journaling for this layout featuring my littlest nephew...who's so chubby and smiley and I really don't want to miss a shot of him smiling or laughing...at 5 months, he thinks the camera is a toy so he looks directly at it. I went with a simple layout...nothing fancy...some stitching around the photo, ribbon & lace & brads and a couple of charms. Thought that the pink background would be too girly for a boy layout but I love the colour combination!
Do you like this song? I think it's perfect for babies even though it's supposed to be a love song...I just think it's pretty creepy to wake up and have someone staring at you because he/she doesn't "want to miss a thing" (chorus block)...lol ...humour me and laugh a little will you? Have a great Wednesday!

Miss you girl
This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is Motif Madness! You must use a single motif throughout your layout. The motif can be from patterned paper or stamp. You can enlarge it, shrink it or just use it repeatedly on your layout. Fun, eh? My layout, Miss you girl, features my cocker spaniel who died in February this year...:( I chose a butterfly motif...I used a mask and did some misting on the patterned paper...I cut out the same set of butterflies on cardstock and embossed it...then adhered to the base paper using 3D dots. I added some butterfly bling around the title...Come play along!
*Edited* This layout was featured at my LSS's blog! :)

Growing up so fast
Doesn't this background paper remind you of the scene from The Ugly Truth? I just saw the movie...where Gerard Butler looked pudgy...still cute but I'm sorry, 300 set the bar way up...Speaking of which, Up is the song at Scrapping the Music this week. My layout, Growing up so fast, features my oldest nephew in a series of pictures documenting his growth.I added digital frames around each photo, then matted them on cardboard and added a little tulle (my latest favourite thing :) I added paint (with texture paste) on the clouds (hard to photograph! ) And check out my Basic Grey brad collection...these are all the colours I own!
Come play along! :)

Are you having a fun day? I am the Guest Designer this week over at Get Sketchy, a fabulous card sketch challenge blog. The bonus challenge is (oh the horror!) no patterned paper! LOL.If you have never played along, you should this week...the prize is an amazing craft tote..
I did some upcycling again. (cardboard & netting)..packaging material is pretty useful...I used distressed embossing powders on the chipboard stars for a sandy feel...finally some use for seashells I've been collecting..:)

Once upon a time
Once upon a time, I was my mummy's little girl. She dressed me up in pretty little dresses which she sewed herself and tied up my hair with pretty bows. I was a lucky little girl.
I picked up this butterfly print fabric recently...love the colours on it and also bought some baby blue tulle...fun stuff...adds a little see-through texture (thanks for the inspiration Maggi!)...I added a little at the top and some around the fabric (not the easiest thing to photograph...and I was losing daylight..lol...so use your imagination). Cutting the butterflies from the fabric was not easy since my Singer fabric scissors are so heavy but I love how they look..Lots of stitching..

And (totally unrelated to this post), my layout was on the Sassafras blog! Thanks for telling me Amy! :)

Live happy

Make the world a brighter place
Another new week ...another great song over at Scrapping the Music..."We are the World"...This fabulous song was a charity single written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie in 1985 and recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa. To date, it has raised $63 million for humanitarian efforts in Africa and the USA. My friends, take a moment today to be grateful for the things that we take for granted: daily meals, clean water and sanitation. Almost half of the world's population (some 3 billion people) live in poverty. We can make the world a brighter place by living a meaningful life.
Have a great Monday! :)

B is for boys
...B is for boys...thank you Picasa...because of you, I didn't need to go look for old photos in my CD library...I found these pictures of my nephews right on my computer...
I'm loving the masking, inking and misting technique a lot...can you tell? This was a really fun layout to do...comparing how different my nephews look when they were about the same age.

Story Time
Supplies: Patterned paper: Scenic Route & Luxe, Cardstock: Bazzill, Chipboard: K & Co, Others: thread, stickles.
...Story time...it's official...I've run out of sentiments for cards...the stamps I have are for scrapbooking and are generally too big for cards (which I started making this March in an effort to use up my scraps)...I marvel at witty sentiments by seasoned cardmakers...Do you have problems thinking of wonderful sentiments for your cards/creations?

JBP
JBP...A day at the bird park...Just a super quick layout...I love patterned paper that does most of the work for you...Playing along with Dreamgirls challenge to use packaging, trees and journaling on notepaper.

Life has got to be lived
This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to use a quote in your title and use only one part of speech in your journaling...all nouns, all adjectives, all verbs, all interjections, all adverbs, all prepositions, or all pronouns. Quite a challenge eh? I used the quote "Life has got to be lived.- that's all there is to it.." by Eleanor Roosevelt...Used a lot of little random scraps for this. Printed the quote on a transparency...
Boo!
Boo! I'm working on my Halloween cards now...Had a little fun with this...masking the web and then adding glossy accents for dimension....paper scraps and some stickles over the spider...

Home Beauty
Meet my Home Beauty...my suede boots...that I've only worn out once since I got it in 2007...why? Because it inadvertently rains the moment I think about wearing them. Oh yes, I can conjure rain by thought. If I think about the boots the night before, it rains the next morning. I have dresses and a matching bag to go with these boots but can only admire them at home...:(

Monsieur Laugh a Lot
Just a cutesy layout...Monsieur Laugh a Lot features my littlest nephew J...who loves to laugh out loud...I added a little moustache to his picture to mimic the monsters on the Sassafras paper. Trying out the misting technique...:) Fun!
Inspired by Method Playground, Ad This and Pile it On.
*Edited* Sassafras was nice enough to feature this layout on this blog post...cute on overload! :)
Grandparents
This months's challenge at Scrap Inspire Create is up! It is a fun pick & mix challenge where you choose a theme and pick an item from each of the DT member's list. My layout features my maternal grandparents in one of the few studio shots they took together. I kept close to my theme of vintage and chose lace, ribbon, buttons and stamping...I stamped those birds in the background...the "lone" button is actually 2 buttons layered on top of each other....I tried the pleated ribbon technique...it wouldn't stay down so I handstitched it to the paper...which took forever...it didn't occur to me to iron the pleats until after....so silly of me...lol.
*Edited* I won the challenge at Create with this layout! :)

Cheeky cheeky faces
This week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to scrap out of season...to use seasonal products unconventionally. Think outside the box for this! :) I love these Cheeky cheeky faces my oldest nephew S made when I asked him to pose. This day was especially memorable (even though it happened over a year ago!)...it was the day he told me he loved me, without any prompting from me...awww...sweet. I only see my nephews once a week, on Saturdays, the day I play "parent"...kudos to those (parents) who have to do it everyday! It's not easy but I have them on scheduled activities...especially naps. ..:) Okay, can you spot my seasonal product? Hint: I added googly eyes on them...:)...may have gone overboard with the stickles all over though..Don't you just love sparkly pages?
Come play along!
