Playground fun - UP the stairs & DOWN the slide - Scrapping the music challenge

Supplies: Patterned paper: K & Co (Blue), Creative Imaginations (Scalloped) & Sassafras, Cardstock: Bazzill, Brads: Basic Grey, Stickers: EK Success, Others: Fiskars border punch, green thread, blue pen, glossy accents.

I watched my nephews having fun at the playground just going up the stairs and down the slide. Over and over again. And I wonder if I enjoyed my childhood as much as they seem to be right now. If only my parents took more photos or journaled...it would really help me piece my childhood together. Somewhat important in aiding me understand more about myself...:)

"Everything else you grow out of, but you never recover from childhood."
Beryl Bainbridge

This layout was inspired by this week's challenge at Scrapping the music. This week's song is Everyday by Dave Matthews Band. I was particularly taken by this paragraph...

Left to right
Up & down, love
I push up love, love everyday
Jump in the mud, oh
Get your hands dirty with
Love it up on everyday

It just reminded me of PLAY and I remembered the photos from the Saturday in December last year. When the weather was just perfect for a great fun afternoon at the playground. They had a field day PLAYING on the slide. So did I. With my camera. This day. I remembered so vividly because we haven't been to the playground since that Saturday. Because it has been raining EVERY single Saturday afternoon since then. Some 12 weeks. This Saturday really needed to be scrapped..:)

The pictures were printed on transparency and adhered to canvas paper by hand stitching along the edges, creating a "frame" for the photos. The photos were not uniform in size, the lower photos were slightly largely to create visual interest. The canvas paper was then matted on blue patterned paper (K & Co) and then matted again on scallop-edged patterned paper (Creative Imaginations). Colored brads were adhered along the scalloped edged of paper. Cut-out patterned paper (Sassafras) was adhered to top right edge of base paper. Some parts were given dimension with the use of glossy accents. I also adhered a google eye to the bird. I used a border punch (Fiskars) on the top right hand corner of base paper to mimic the scallop border on the patterned paper, and added more colored brads. The journaling was a mix of stickers and handwriting.
