6 pages from the gratitude journal

Ahh.. .this was the one where I brought my folks with me to attend a kintsugi workshop organised by Cle de Peau and Sephora. It was fun and we got some awesome door gifts too. That was when Sephora still organised fun events.. these days not so much.

This is the reason why I love to take food photos...it reminds me of the meals I used to make...so that I can make them again. Like this loaded pork chop baguette with a salad for lunch.

It has been more than a year since I last made a brownie. Time to make another!

I love going to the wholesale centre to get flowers. I get a big bouquet and put them in various vases to enjoy them around the house for a few days. :)

These days I wait for an eyeshadow palette to go on sale before I get it. There's really no urgency to get it the moment it comes out and I can take my take reading reviews before making my decision.

Since Covid, I've pretty much bought all my bags online. Doing my due diligence and watching reviews before buying them on sale. My bag requirements are simple - I need to be able to wear them in at least 2 different ways (crossbody, shoulder, backpack etc) and they need to have a protective bottom. I love this one that I got for travel. It's lightweight but sturdy...I can fit another small bag in it..it fits under the seat on the plane.

December dinner 2025

Haven't shared much of this year's family food. Here's what the Yams ate on Monday. All made by me of course. :)

We had braised sweet and sour pork ribs, stir-fried mixed veggies and wood ear mushroom salad.

I fussy-card the Fresh rewards illustration from the marketing flyer and added some more "blooms" with stickers. The red "frame" also came from a marketing pamphlet. I just adhered random bits of paper and stickers to add interest and texture.

Kept it simple (by my standards) with pops of texture and layers.

This week's page from the gratitude journal - crochet cuties

Learning to crochet has been on my to-learn list for the longest time but for now, I'll still be picking up cuties when I see them. These two were bought from a street vendor at the Hanoi weekend market.  Super cute pair!:)

Another week of mixed media eye drawings in the mini sketchbook

Really been enjoying my recent mixed media eye drawings...

I love how the water-soluble pencils add interest and depth to my drawings...

While keeping it "loose" and artsy. :)

While saving lots of time too.

Happy Thursday friends!

A page from the gratitude journal - Kaisendon lunch at Kaunta

I remember queuing up for 45 minutes last year to eat at this twenty-seater Japanese restaurant in town. It was really really good. And reasonably priced for the quality of sashimi we got. Unfortunately it has since shuttered its doors. Like many good restaurants in Singapore. Glad I got to eat here once.

What to do with old artwork

So I have a ton of floral watercolour practice pieces that I've accumulated over the years. They aren't fantastic but it seemed quite a waste to just throw them out. I decided to fussy-cut them and they actually look pretty decent. Going to use them on my layouts as decorative elements. :)

Do you keep all your artwork?

The one about the Pachira flower

Last week my Pachira (Chinese Money Plant) bloomed for the first time. The bloom was really big and fragrant. I was in a hurry and thought that I would take a photo the next day. But the bloom only lasts for a single day. Fortunately there was another bud on the Pachira. Which I got a snap of. And it bloomed the next day! Even the neighbours came over to take photos. *LOL*

Let's see if good fortune ensues from this. *winks*

This week's page from the gratitude journal - pork chop bagel

Really miss these one-dish meals I made last year that were way easier to prepare than the 3 dishes served with rice that I've been cooking most of this year.  Need to get back to easier meals like this one. It was pretty tasty. :)
